Mario Teaches Typing 2 - Main Menu (Roland SC-55 MKII)

It has long since been a want to have good, accurate transcriptions of the Pac-Man World, further compounded by the official remake of the game not being the best in that regard, even after the patch, where the music still isn't entirely there, I find. Armed with a Stereo slightly better quality snippet from Todd Dennis's Demo Reel, and a keen ear, I gave @NUKELEDGE the task of accurately transcribing the song, alongside making it sound good on the SC-55, and he delivered quite well on that!
To make the song sound good on the SC-55, some stuff like an Acoustic Bass was layered with the Fretless Bass, and a Marimba layered with the Vibraphone, to give both of those sounds (Fretless and Vibra), a more full sound, akin to the original song. The SC-55 also lacked a Maraca Shake sound, so that was emulated by having a flam'ed Shaker. It all around comes together to make for something great, and I feel confident in calling this transcription quite accurate, and hope folk enjoy using it for whatever it is they please.

In the end, after finding out the final version of Internet Explorer 3 didn't support the JavaScript I needed for hi-lighted buttons, I settled on Internet Explorer 4.0, which supports just about everything the site needs! The choice of IE4 also influenced stuff like the dimensions of the site, which is designed to perfectly fit the area usable within an IE4 window, so the user will never have to scroll (which not everyone will have access to on older machines!)
I originally wanted to try and make the website dial up friendly, and like... you *can* visit it on dial up, but it's honestly not the fastest experience, mostly due to just how many graphics I chose to use. That's perfectionism for ya... (Doesn't help that while the first 2 pages use GIF and JPEG files, due to being developed for IE3 originally, the rest use PNG when available, since even if they're lower res, I like to use uncompressed graphics when I can)
For anyone not visiting on older IE browsers, there's code included so that HTML5 browsers will have compatible versions of the music and sound effects, as well as the Toontown cursor as a bonus. (Which I REALLY wanted in IE4, but that would have needed IE6 at minimum to do ;-;_
Oh, on that note, as you can probably tell, the site is basically entirely Toontown themed, with some Club Penguin assets thrown into the mix, combining 2 of my passions from my youth. I've used a green penguin (who I've named Lenny) to represent myself online for a few years now, so it felt appropriate to do for the site.
The site was originally being coded by hand, by myself, using John December's HTML 3.2 book and others as reference, but for now, I'm mostly just conceptualizing things, since actually doing the coding is beyond my head. That's where my partner comes in, who has learned a language called PUG, which has made development of the website SO much easier.
There honestly isn't much more work left to do, aside from flourishes, and writing the articles. Once all is said and done, the pages will be moved off the beta area of the site, and will be what people see, when they visit!
The Beta this is from (which I highly encourage you check out, since it has so many differences from the final game) can be found here: legoisland.org/wiki/LEGO_Island#Download
This song, and others that mention it, was composed by James T. Sale, but never made it into the final game. For Toontown, multiple composers at a company, Soundelux, were tasked with writing a song they thought would fit for one purpose, with Disney then choosing the song they thought fit best. In the case of this song, it, and it's brother, #1, were to be used for the Estate's Radio items, until it was decided there wasn't enough time or interest in adding in such functionality leaving it unused and unheard, until it was recovered in April 2020 (More details here, if you're curious: reddit.com/r/Toontown/comments/g6yupu/installed_to_insane_discoveries ).
This song was transcribed by @NUKELEDGE , who I commissioned to transcribe some Toontown songs, and who I plan to commission again, down the line. He was extremely kind and patient with me, and I'm very happy that he worked with me, until the song sounded just about perfect to my ears. For Toontown, multiple composers at a company, Soundelux, were tasked with writing a song they thought would fit for one purpose, with Disney then choosing the song they thought fit best. In the case of this song, it was obviously created for whoever the Head Suit (Cog) was at the time it was made in 2001, but obviously didn't fit what Disney had in mind, so it was rejected, until it was recovered in April 2020 (More details here, if you're curious: reddit.com/r/Toontown/comments/g6yupu/installed_to_insane_discoveries ).

For Toontown, multiple composers at a company, Soundelux, were tasked with writing a song they thought would fit for one purpose, with Disney then choosing the song they thought fit best. In the case of this song, going by it's name, this song came from the era when the Cogs were still called suits. It has a very comical villain sort of sound to it, which perhaps wasn't as serious sounding as Disney wanted, so it got rejected, and never used, until it was recovered in April 2020 (More details here, if you're curious: reddit.com/r/Toontown/comments/g6yupu/installed_to_insane_discoveries ).

This song... hoo boy, do I have a story with this song. I have been trying to find the ORIGINAL MIDI for EONS, since in 2014, a transcription of this song was released, which, even to my 11 year old ears of the time, I could tell was not right. This eventually lead to me when I was 17, trying to contact the known Toontown Online composers, discovering undocumented composers, trying to find who made the song, and if anyone had the MIDI (more info here: reddit.com/r/Toontown/comments/g6yupu/installed_to_insane_discoveries ). This went nowhere, and no one outside of Disney would have had the MIDI, since the Flash Installer of the time, used a low quality, 11025hz Stereo MP3, instead of a MIDI file, like what the older installer with Scrooge used. So, that leads me here, being an adult, with money, commissioning my good friend to take a crack at the song. I acknowledge it's not 100% perfect, but I made my poor friend go through 10 revisions of this song alone, and I don't want to trouble them further. Admittedly, this song sounds super cursed on the SC-55 MKII (it sounds a lot closer to the original on GM.DLS, but I'm too lazy to record that, right now), but I'm happy to have this transcription, which is much closer to the original song, and probably wouldn't need much further done to it, if anyone is ever being a mega stickler over accuracy.

For Toontown, multiple composers at a company, Soundelux, were tasked with writing a song they thought would fit for one purpose, with Disney then choosing the song they thought fit best. This is a supplement to my Toontown Online Soundtrack video, containing Beta versions of songs, found within the 1.0.5 Beta build of the game. Most of these have minor differences, but the Hall of Fame track here is unique, and unheard, in the final game. It may not be much, but I thought it was worth preserving these versions, and having them properly recorded on the SC-55.

I was originally just going to use nothing but the SNES sequences for this project, however, when I went to do the song for the first level in the game, I very quickly found out that the SNES versions of most of the songs... did not translate very well to full synths. If you'd like, you can listen to what I mean here: maniac95.info/sc55_stuff/bubsy_stage_1_theme_norm_sdr_trim_looped_fade_out.flac
Because of the SNES sequence being too empty, I instead turned to the sequence from Super Bubsy. I normally avoid this, since the sequences there are broken, as while they're mostly based off the original pre console tracks, their conversion tool causes instruments to go missing as they play, rendering them effectively useless. However, the first level theme in the game came out unscathed, so I was able to use it's sequence, and then apply the SNES instrumentation to the song, to give a good balance between not sounding empty, while still sounding familiar, sound wise.
Sadly, unless the Genesis version of the game can have a tool made to rip MIDI from, this project will probably not go any further The Genesis versions of the songs reflect how the songs were originally sequenced, and are a better pick over the empty SNES versions, and the badly converted Super Bubsy versions. Unless someone makes such a tool on their own (or I pay someone, who knows...), don't expect much more for this game. Sorry.

I got inspired to do this, as some Beta tracks for LEGO Racers got posted, which better clarify what each instrument is supposed to be. The original beta tracks were seemingly done wholely on something like the Roland SC-55, but I don't have desk space for that right now, so, I opted to instead record it on my JV-880. Aside from 2 percussive sounds that the JV-880 with the Pop card lacks (A Short Guiro, and some unknown sound), everything is here, and it sounds pretty nice, at least, to my own ears. Captures the same manic energy as the final song, but in higher quality. On that note, this is NOT a restore or remaster, so please don't try to pass it off as one, thank you!

The main recording I could find of this song online sounded a bit lossy, and not the best, and I thought I should go ahead and record this classic demo song on my own setup, for you all to enjoy in the best possible quality. This was played back within Windows, using Vanbasco Karaoke Player, using the latest drivers from Creative, which results in broken playback. You can go between my other proper recording and this one to see what I mean, but, more info about what this means will be added here, and in the pinned comment, once I am done making the Twitter thread!

I have wanted to create a restored version of the Mac version of this song for a LONG time, but for a good while, I just had no access to the MIDI data or samples from the Mac version of the song. That is until my great friend fusoxide informed me that they ported the music from the Mac version to Beatnik format. Curious, I asked if they might also know how to export the music and samples into MIDI and WAV format. Not long later, and they did! It is thanks to them exporting that data for me, alongside Milon Luxy for being able to locate where the Brass comes from (It's from the Ensoniq VFX, and is called Unibrass! I had to octave the MIDI notes to replicate the original sample. The sample ripped from the ROM was looped by Milon, and I loaded it into Kontakt 4). It is a dream come true to finally have this done, and I hope you all enjoy the end result!

The Aladdin Restored project aims to bring songs back to how they were sounding, before they were ported to the SEGA Genesis. Donald S. Griffin, the primary composer and arranger on the game, wrote his songs with a mix of the SC-55, and in one known instance, the K2000. Using a combination of audio from his demo tape, and my general knowledge of the GEMS patches, I am working on bringing these songs back to their original form, for you all to enjoy!
For this song, we only have the word of the VGM set to go by that Donald Griffin did this song, and I reckon that info comes from someplace obscure, like an independent e-mail, or YouTube comment. If I find out he didn't actually do this track, I will change the credits! As for the track itself, this is honestly one of my personal favorites from the game, in due part because my friend has been working on some arrangements for a while that sound great.

This arrangement here is the only known song to use the Kurzweil K2000. This is not gear I own for myself, but my good friend @kabulentnought owns a K2000S, so, I commissioned him! Not only to provide multitrack audio that I can mix, but also to recreate the percussion track, which was completely missing from the GEMS data. Using the Demo Tape for reference, and the original song from the movie, with feedback/guidance from myself, here we present this arrangement in all of it's glory! Here's another arrangement of a song from the movie that Donald did! This is a pleasant little arrangement, that, while basic in nature, I think sounds charming on the SC-55. I deviated from the effects Donald used in his Demo Tape (he didn't use as much Chorus as I do), but I think I crafted a nice end result that you all will enjoy!

The Aladdin Restored project aims to bring songs back to how they were sounding, before they were ported to the SEGA Genesis. Donald S. Here's another original composition from Donald S. Griffin, also featured in his Demo Tape! I consider this a huge upgrade from my previously unreleased old version of this song. It's a very fitting fast paced track for the Carpet Ride, which is an infamously hard segment in an already hard game. I hope you all enjoy it!

For this video, I have combined both variations of Arab Rock into a single video. This song was pretty easy to figure out and get sounding good, though the percussion mapping is somewhat guesstimated, since the song doesn't play for long enough on the Demo Tape to hear all of the percussion. I got really in-depth with the Reverb and Chorus effects here, and am overall quite happy with how this track turned out.

This song was written by Gabriella Yorke, and was written for the in-game Cartoonival event grounds that pop up, every year in Toontown Rewritten. It is thanks to Yorke that this video you see here is possible, as without them providing the MIDI file for this song, this recording would have never happened! I am beyond happy with the results, and hope you all enjoy this version of the Cartoonival Theme!

This song was written by Gabriella Yorke, and is based off of the classic Toontown Theme from Toontown Online. It is thanks to Yorke that this video you see here is possible, as without them providing the MIDI file for this song, this recording would have never happened! I originally didn't even think of working on this song, as I thought it wasn't possible, but as I was talking to Yorke on recording some other songs they made, they sent this my way, and I knew I had to record it immediately! I am beyond happy with the results, and hope you all enjoy this version of the Toontown Rewritten theme.

This happy little song here by Donald Griffin is the song that was directly lifted from Monopoly Deluxe, to then be used in Cool Spot as the Parade Tune... without credit. Well, let's fix that, and get the facts out there, cause Tommy Tallarico's lies must be torn down! Anyhow, the SC-55 is the machine this song was originally made in mind with, so the extracted MIDI data (thanks so much for the extraction script, DKDave!) works like a glove, complete with panning and reverb data!

The Pac-Man World MP3 from the archive includes Stereo versions of Under Pressure, Perilous Pipes, Corsair's Cove, Ghost Island, Ghostly Garden and the Gallery theme!
These are unfortunately not the full songs, but to even hear these songs in Stereo is such a treat! I cannot thank the user on Twitter enough for posting these songs for the world to hear.

This project has been 2 years in the making (7 years, counting when I first started working on Sound Canvas music packs), and I'm proud to finally have it released. Every track from the game (minus beta songs, which will go up later, sorry!) are here, and accounted for, painstakingly recorded channel by channel, to ensure each and every song has next to no stutter, and that all of the notes programmed in the songs, play, without any note dropouts, from the SC-55 MKII's old, limited technology. The way these tracks sound can be thought of as a sort of remaster for the original game's music, which uses a soundset largely comprised of SC-55 sounds, but heavily compressed.
Songs are ordered in a way that I personally felt made sense. Songs 1-45 are presented in what I felt are a chronological order, while songs 46-72 are ordered by when they released, within the Toontown Online update timeline. Songs 73-77 are unused songs that are presented with the context that has been assumed about them, while songs 78-80 are songs that were used on the web side of Toontown Online, and not within the game itself.
You can use these songs in Toontown Rewritten, using the pack linked here (For folk who want to use these songs in a pack or server, please refer to the included read me!): mmocentralforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=4354904

Using MIDI rips provided by Valley Bell (with fixed versions of some songs used, if overlapping notes were being dropped, when they shouldn't be), I have recorded all of the tracks from the game in crystal clear quality, using the AWE32's Digital Output, providing the best quality that you can possibly get out of the AWE32. I reckon this will be a bit of a niche thing for some folk, but regardless, I'm happy to preserve this version of the soundtrack in such high quality, and hope some of you enjoy it.

General Notes:
Animations for 2D graphics and Pac-Man himself seem to run faster than usual, with some idle animations completing earlier, and animations like those in the end level screen, going way faster than usual. While physics are generally unaffected, the height you gain from jumping out of the water is much lower, and rev rolls don't quite hit the same distance and height that they normally do. Basic platforming and butt bounces appear to be unaffected. Also, helivators play their animation and sound faster, but otherwise move at the same speed.
Buccaneer Beach:
Aside from struggling to get all of the cherries in the pool under the bridge, this level is mostly the same, except for the Skeletons, who move a good bit faster than they normally do. This level ran the most consistently at 60fps, with a 300% overclock.
Corsair's Cove:
The pokey fish in the water move much faster, and I don't think react to Pac-Man at the faster framerate. The wooden pirates get shot at 2x the rate they normally do, which can make dodging the projectiles fired towards them tricky, when in swarms. In this level, you can observe that Pac-Dot chains seem to also complete faster, which I forgot to mention within the general notes. Overall, I didn't encounter any serious issues trying to complete this level.
Mazes:
Not much of note here. The maze in Corsair's Cove mostly stayed around 40fps, while the maze in Crazy Cannonade more consistently hit 60fps. It might be possible to make the frame rate more consistent with a 400% or higher overclock.
Bonus Levels:
No serious issues here. I figured the previously mentioned less height from water jumps would be an issue, but I didn't have too much trouble with these.
Crazy Cannonade:
This is the first level to utilize rev roll ramps for big jumps to a heavy extent, which made me very worried that I wouldn't be able to complete this level. Rev rolls are gimped when at a higher framerate, so I worried that I would reach spots where I couldn't make it to the other side. Luckily, I was able to find setups that allowed me to get them working, or was able to skip them entirely. This level otherwise wasn't too bad.
HMS Windbag:
This fight is mostly the same, aside from faster animations, and I think faster rate of fire on the cannons.
Final thoughts:
While imperfect, I think Pac-Man World is surprisingly playable at 60fps, all things considered. The experience could be better, with me hoping that patches can come about to fix the issues that 60fps brings to the game, but as is, it's not a bad way to experience the game, paired with the visual correction features DuckStation offers. I hope this video can prove interesting to some, and perhaps catch the eyes of developers who want to look into fixing the issues the game has, running like this.

Also, to anyone who asks why the music and sfx pitch sound different in my video, vs how the game usually sounds, refer to this Twitter thread here, which includes GameShark codes, and explanations as to what the code does: twitter.com/lebrickster/status/1558183423189065730
The result is not 100% perfect, as there are a few notable issues. The main issue to be noted is that jumping out of the water is much lower in this state, meaning that getting fruit that requires you to jump out of water, is now more difficult, or impossible. The other notable issue is enemy AI, with the skeletons in this level moving faster than they should be. The other issue, while minor, is that some animations play faster, such as the fruit being added to your HUD, or Pac-Man's pellet juggle, which is not shown in this video.
Other than those flaws that I observed, the game seems to mostly be fine at the higher framerate, and I wonder if GameShark codes could be made that fix some of these issues. If anyone makes any codes, feel free to let me know, so I can add them to the video description, and make an updated video.

The jingle itself is a stock jingle from the Sound Ideas: Series 4000 library, with some editing done. The song was slowed down by -11 in Audacity, and then the relevant parts were spliced together, to match the game loop. The original intro and ending from the Series 4000 source have been included in my edit, to make it seem more complete, and because I don't think everyone has heard them, before.
Anyone is free to use my edit as they please. I have included the Audacity project file for the song, should anyone want it.

The main recording I could find of this song online sounded a bit lossy, and not the best, so since I just got my own card in today for myself, I thought I should go ahead and record this classic demo song on my own setup, for you all to enjoy in the best possible quality. This was played back via the DOS diagnostics tool, since I personally found that playing the MIDI file provided with the Driver CD within Windows, sounded a bit off, on some instruments. I might do some more AWE32 recordings in the future, for games like the Sonic & Knuckles Collection, but, we'll see!

The tracks here still have that speed up (except Corsair's Cove), so this upload serves to get the songs back to their PS1 production rates. The newly remade songs, Credits and Gallery, have been included here. The old upload will remain up for historical reasons, but honestly, there's little reason to go back to the music from the launch version, if you ask me.

This restore was done by myself! I did this a long while back, based off of transfers that were on the Project Island site. This song was already in good shape, and really only needed good denoising, but I also went in and fixed up the track speed, Azimuth issues, and did some Music Rebalancing and Mixing in Izotope, to give it a nice, wide, rich sound, that I'm still proud of, even now.

This restore was done by myself! I did this a long while back, based off of transfers that were on the Project Island site. This predates transfers being released from Michael's master tapes. The reason they aren't used for my restore, is due to their lossy nature, and abundance of transfer issues. Otherwise, I would use his transfer for this song, due to the huge amount of clarity it has, over Lorin's recorded copy of the song.

This restore was done by my good long time friend, ZANTHERA. He originally made this restore for me, back in 2018, when I wanted to use the song in the game, Club Penguin 3D. He's given me permission to share it with you all, and I am very grateful for that. The track speed here is timed to how the sample sources sound, so if you feel the track sounds a bit slow, then just know, this is how this track is supposed to sound, instead of being slightly sped up.

This restore was done by my good long time friend, ZANTHERA. He made this restore a good while after I made mine, and I wanted to share his version, here on the channel, since it outshines mine, in all regards. Composed by Todd Dennis (with sound effects work being done by Joey Kuras), who were both a part of Tommy Tallarico Studios, this release includes all tracks from the game in the best publicly available quality, with most tracks looping and fading out, and in-game songs having their correct sample rate, congruent to how they were originally meant to sound.

You may or may not know how Pac-Man World's music was at a higher than normal pitch, due to an oversight or bug that was present in the original game (read here for more info: twitter.com/lebrickster/status/1558183423189065730 ). Though it would seem that the team making Re-PAC didn't realize this, and assumed it was intentional (despite the CD Audio tracks proving it isn't, and also proving that the tracks were never made around this "compressed aesthetic"), resulting in the remade tracks being pitched up, for no good reason. This video undoes the pitch-ups, and even includes the Phase 2 HMS Windbag song with a pitch more in-line with the rest of the soundtrack.
BEFORE ANYONE ASKS, Crazy Cannonade is not included here, since that track was mysteriously produced with the correct pitch, while all of the other remade tracks, weren't.

I couldn't find a better quality version of this recently popular clip online, so using some Hulu rip I found, here it is, in a better quality! This comes from the first episode, known as "One Sweet and Sour Chinese Adventure to Go".
A complete collection of music from Tetris CD-i, using high quality songs from Jim Andron, the Final retail game, and a dumped Beta build of the game!
Inspired by Jim Andron, the original composer for Tetris CD-i, recently releasing a good amount of the game's tracks in high quality, this collection aims to use a mix of the high quality tracks he uploaded, with the gaps filled by tracks from the Final and Beta versions of the game. Track names are mostly using the names Jim Andron gave them, though some tracks do not currently have proper names, so they use more generic names, like "Level 7". If Jim ever decides to give proper names to these tracks, I will update the tags to reflect them!
For this upload, I enlisted my friend, Senn, to de-click the high quality tracks that Jim Andron uploaded. Due to how many clicks there were the process is not 100% flawless, but I'd say he managed to do a good job in toning them down, making the tracks much more listenable. He worked on de-clicking the tracks for a long while, spending loads of time on figuring out the right approach, and I am super grateful that he took the time to de-click the track, and allowed me to share them here, with you all.
