For all our tents, we recommend that you peg down all the peg loops around the entire perimeter of the tent in most conditions. For the Anjan and Helags models specifically, regardless of whether you peg the other loops, it is important that you always at least peg down the peg loop by the pole next to the vestibule door, and that you pull this peg point a little bit forward.
Pitching your Anjan and Helags models this way prevents the pole from shifting when you open the vestibule door, which would put a lot of stress on the zipper and the surrounding fabric. Avoiding unnecessary strain will extend the lifetime of both your zipper and your tent – Watch the video to see how it’s done!

The Keron and Keron GT models are Sarah’s “home away from home” during her multi-month-long arctic trips. “They’re just bomb-proof,” she says, “I just have full confidence that they’ll be fine in any storm, which is huge when you’re out in the middle of nowhere and in these super windy, remote locations.”

The video goes over everything from basic setup and line runner adjustment, to pitching with terrain or site constraints. We always recommend using guy lines, in any terrain, on any model, so you are prepared for anything you might encounter. Each tent has an optimal guy line configuration that is found in the model’s individual pitching video.

For treks with frequent and harsh storm conditions Kerstin uses a Nammatj, “I really love this tent, it’s huge inside, it gives me so much space, it’s relatively light and it’s just perfect for my arctic travels,” she says. She also often uses her Akto, “I like that it’s small as well because you can pitch it up everywhere without having to think much about it,” she says. In the places where Kerstin travels, weather can turn very foul very suddenly, so she counts on both of her tents to keep her safe and secure.

The Helags Pitching Video gives you all the details and shows you how to use the Hilleberg Helags, a two-vestibule tunnel tent in the Yellow Label series. Remarkably roomy and airy, the Helags is available in 2- and 3-person versions and is a great choice for backpacking and other snow-free adventures. The Helags’s dual entrances and vestibules ensure both flexible entry/exit options and plenty of storage space, while vertical entrances and near vertical walls in the inner tent maximize usable space. Curved patterning in the outer tent walls and full mesh inner tent doors afford excellent full-time airflow, and both vestibule doors can be rolled partially or fully away for maximum venting and views.

In this little video, Petra Hilleberg details our Trekking Poles. Since we offer poles for all our tents, we wanted to have our own trekking poles for use with our Anaris tent, as well as for our Mesh Tent 1, our Tarps, and our Mesh Box and Mesh Ridge shelters. And while our Trekking Poles are perfect as tent/shelter poles, they are also, of course, excellent poles for hiking. Simple, lightweight and sturdy, Hilleberg Trekking Poles are produced by our long-time partner and tent pole supplier, DAC, and are made with their impressively strong TH72M aluminum. The three-section poles use a very strong, double cam lever lock, and extend for hiking from 90 cm (35.5 in) to 145 cm (57 in), a range that lends itself well to use with our Anaris, Tarps, Mesh Tent 1 , Mesh Box Mesh Ridge. And they collapse fully to 65 cm (25.5 in) – the perfect height for use at the back of our Tarp 5 and/or Mesh Tent 1.

The pair have spent many years traveling from South America to Mexico, then Mexico to Canada, and most recently through North America to Alaska. Their stories paint vivid pictures of wilderness, of people, of self-discovery, and, of course, of living in Hilleberg tents.

For 2021, Hilleberg is introducing three new tents – the Helags 2 and 3 in the Yellow Label series and the Black Label Soulo BL.
The Helags, available in a two- and a three-person version, is the Yellow Label counterpart to the Black Label Keron and the Red Label Kaitum. With two vestibules and very roomy interiors, the Helags models are excellent tents for any snow-free adventure, and both are impressively lightweight: 2.4 kg/5 lbs 5 oz packed weight for the Helags 2 and 2.6 kg/5lbs 12 oz for the Helags 3.
The new Soulo BL is the Black Label version of the Red Label Soulo one-person tent. It has the same surprisingly roomy, fully freestanding construction with integrated vestibule as the original, but features Black Label materials – Kerlon 1800 outer tent fabric and 10 mm poles – for even greater strength. It has a packed weight of 2.8 kg/ 6 lbs 3 oz, just 400 g/14 oz more than the Red Label version.
Hilleberg is also introducing new Mesh Inner Tents that will fit into both the new Helags 2 and 3 and the Red Label Kaitum 2 and 3, as well as a new accessory peg, the Y-Peg XL, with a three-finned cross section and a 24 cm/9.4 in length for added holding power in both hard and soft ground.

The Basic version includes two Vestibules, each with two large doors; a large Main Roof, or mid-section, which has “bag” opening vents to accommodate ducting for hot or cold forced air systems; an Extension with two large, zipper doors; poles and pegs; and a Carrier Bag, which will hold all components and is designed to be carried as a backpack. The optional standard Inner Tent connects to the Main Roof, sleeps up to 14, and has venting that mates with that of the Main Roof. The optional Connector enables multiple tents to be linked at the Extension doors.

Originally from Scotland, Alasdair was born into a family heritage of farming and engineering. For himself, he initially chose chemistry (University of Oregon); A childhood trip up Ben Lomond in Scotland triggered his desire for an outdoor life, and, once on that path, he found that he loves the "dark, desolate places on the planet," and kept seeking them as often as possible.

Hilleberg Rogen – http://bit.ly/2ln6dJa
The Rogen is an excellent tent for any trip in warmer and snow-free conditions where very light weight is of the highest importance. Dome construction makes the Rogen a great choice for tough pitching situations. It is quick and easy to set up, boasts two doors and two vestibules, and has room enough for two plus their gear – yet it is easily light enough for use as a (wonderfully roomy) solo tent.
The pole system employs two long, crossing poles for the basic shape and a shorter pole in the roof, which both increases stability and provides head room in the vestibules. In fine weather, rolling away the vestibules exposes the near-full mesh inner tent doors for cross venting. Paddlers, summer mountain scramblers, backpackers, bicycle tourers will all find the Rogen’s remarkable spaciousness, two door comfort, and self-supporting construction appealing.

Hilleberg Rogen - http://bit.ly/2ln6dJa

Hilleberg Rogen - http://bit.ly/2ln6dJa

Every one of our Tent Handbooks comes with a tear strength testing sheet. Order your free copy today and see for yourself how the tear strength of our Kerlon outer tent fabrics means not only a longer life for your tent but also provides welcome “trip insurance” when the weather turns wild.
Greater strength equals greater safety. It is that simple. The stronger the fabric on your outer tent is, the less likely it is to tear because of bad weather, rough handling, or inadvertent mistakes.
Our Kerlon fabrics are coated, on both sides, with a total of three layers of 100 percent silicone. Certainly, they are completely waterproof and very light, but our process also imparts a strength to the base material that is an order of magnitude greater than is possible with the more common polyurethane coating. Perhaps more importantly, our coated Kerlon fabrics are also far, far stronger than so-called “siliconized” materials, which typically employ a coating mixture of silicone and other compounds.
This means that we can start with lighter weight base fabrics and still produce outer tent materials that are stronger overall, and, in the case of Kerlon 1800, 1200, and 2500, that are stronger than a great many of the so-called “expedition grade,” heavy duty tent materials on the market (even our lighter Kerlon 1000 fabric is more robust than many of those fabrics). The result: if your outer tent does suffer a puncture, our high tear strengths make it far less likely that the puncture will develop into a trip-ending rip.

Hilleberg is proud to introduce the new 2-person Anaris, a very roomy, lightweight ridge tent using a trekking pole pitch, and can also be set up by suspending the ridge ends from trees. Its excellent combination of light weight, simplicity and impressive comfort make it ideal for backpacking and other warmer weather backcountry adventures.
Part of the Hilleberg Yellow Label series of lightweight, snow-free adventure/3-season models, the Anaris weighs just 1.4 kg/3 lb 1 oz and yet has a generous 2.6 sq m/28 sq ft of inner tent area and over 110 cm/43 in of headroom. Both inner tent entrance walls, including the doors, are no-see-um mesh, which, along with the catenary patterning on the outer tent walls ensure excellent full-time airflow. The new Anaris also offers remarkable flexibility. Both doors on both vestibules can be partially or fully rolled away, allowing even more venting options, and either or both of the Anaris’s sides can be fully rolled up. Like all Hilleberg tents, the Anaris has linked inner and outer tents, allowing either simultaneous pitching or separate use. Used on its own, the outer tent is a supercharged tarp, thanks to its multiple options for rolling the ends or the sides. And the inner tents full mesh ends make it a superb choice for bug protection in hot weather.
Ridge tents are part of the Hilleberg DNA: the first Hilleberg model, the Keb, introduced in 1973, was an all-season ridge tent, and the company has been working with ridge construction ever since. Indeed, this new Anaris takes its name and basic design from an earlier, all-season “Anaris” that was part of the Hilleberg line from the mid 1980s through the early 1990s. The early 2000s saw the introduction of the Muddus, a modular ridge model, and most recently, the company brought out the Rajd, a very lightweight shelter designed for adventure racing. The 2020 Anaris takes Hilleberg’s long experience and reimagines their simple yet sturdy ridge concept for the 21st century.
