A complaint has been filed and they have gotten back with my saying the complaint has been received and is being looked into. All we can do now is what and see if they condone this attitude or condemn it. I don't see how they can at all condone it but I don't know how harshly they will work to rectify it either._______________________________________________________________________Was out killing some time today playing an online GPS-based game in the middle of running some errands. The game is only played when stopped not while driving.While stopped in a residential area near where I was going I was approached by a corporal of the Blount County Sheriff's department in East Tennessee. He didn't like that I was parked near his house and wanted to flex. He informed me that since I don't live there I can't be there. He did not care it was a public street in an open subdivision. he made it quite clear that Americans are not allowed freedom of travel. I should have asked if that pertains to freedom of travel in any neighborhood or just his but hindsight.The video starts about 2 minutes into our interaction. He asked me what I was doing and I told him I was playing a game. as I saw where this was going I asked him about getting his body camera to which he replied it's at the office gee a lot of fucking good it does there. So at that point, I immediately started my video. To the corporal's credit at least he knew enough to know that I had a right to record despite the fact that Tennessee is still one of the states where it hasn't been affirmed in the court.He asked for ID which I refused as this was not a traffic stop I was parked in an area that's not restricted to parking. I am familiar with the only code I can find dealing with providing ID which is § 7-3-505 and it statesFailure to produce identification -- Arrest -- Release -- Bond.Universal Citation: TN Code § 7-3-505 (2019)When any police or peace officer of a metropolitan government or any employee of a metropolitan government authorized to enforce ordinances, laws or regulations of the metropolitan government or charged with the duty to serve civil or criminal process, asks the violator for identification for the purpose of issuing a citation or civil warrant to that person, the failure to produce or give such identification shall be grounds for the violator to be arrested by an officer authorized to make arrests pursuant to title 40, chapter 7. In such event, the violator shall be arrested, transported to the police station or jail, booked, photographed, and fingerprinted for identification purposes and, thereafter, shall be served with the citation or civil warrant and released from custody without being required to post a bond.As I wasn't being issued a citation or civil warrant I refused. Later in the video, I did feel I had to give my ID over a registration error. I don't know if that registration error was a citeable offense and as I was unsure decided better safe than sorry.That being said while keeping a civilized tone this corporal is either totally ignorant of the basic rights afforded to citizens or a fucking liar. As SCOTUS has ruled cops can lie in the course of doing their job I don't know which. Regardless his orders and beliefs were downright tyrannical as evidenced in the video. He called in several other officers so I believe we had a total of three vehicles for somebody playing a game.As I'm not an auditor I didn't think to do a lot of things I should have done. That being said I still wanted to get this out to the auditing community because I believe everyone will agree that Cpl Gallow's actions and statements were completely unreasonable.His stated beliefs toward the end of the video on providing ID seem highly suspect and I really wish I had thought to have asked him for the code. I can't find anything like what he was talking about so I believe it's bullshit but I know enough to know where I stand on the Dunning-Kruger scale. so if anyone can enlighten me on some codes I may have missed I'd appreciate it I will also certainly be asking about that when I file my complaint.If anyone decides to contact the Blount County Sheriff's office or the Mayor's Office I do ask that you please be respectful. It's not the person who answers the phone's fault. I stated in the video I will be following up with the Office of Professional Standards regarding the ridiculous rules this corporal thinks he can make up. The noodle show at Hai Di Lao Hot Pot in Tianjin Insanitys Edge 2013-01-31 | Out for a going away dinner with some of my students. They wanted to treat me to Hai Di Lao Huǒ Guō, which is a very famous hot pot here in Tianjin. Hot pot dates back around 1000 years from Mongolia. So after you've eaten all your meats and veggies in the delicious stock, (ours were spicy tomato and seafood ) of your choice you might choose to end your meal with some fresh noodles. You can just ask for some or for a small fee but if they just think you're a special guest (like a laowai taking pictures) for free, you can enjoy the little noodle pulling show.Thanks so much to my students for the wonderful dinner but sorry they won't able to ever see this video because as they complained the Chinese government blocks YouTube.
Simple but tasty wedding dinner in China. Insanitys Edge 2013-01-13 | My sister-in-law's very tasty wedding dinner. The cost for the dinner was 500¥ a table and my new brother-in-law paid for 3 tables in 3 different rooms, so he was minus 1500¥ / $240 but then the hong bao "gift money" started rolling in. It's very different from how we give wedding gifts in America but a lot easier. I know they got 1k each from Shelly & me, their brother and their mother. Plus all the cash from his family and friends so I'm sure they made a profit of at least 5000¥ / $800.

Not willing to take that for an answer they called back a couple of days later so I had some fun. I edited down some of her long pauses, they're trained to do that to make you feel like you have to talk. It's how they try to run and steer a conversation but toward the end you could clearly hear the exasperation in her voice. Sadly I had to hang up the phone because my wife needed me to help her in the bathroom with Barbara Dawn. Hope you get as much of a laugh from it as I did. Look forward to some more in the future I'm sure.

The Tianjin Eye 天津之眼 Insanitys Edge 2010-03-13 | We took a ride on the new Tianjin Eye a couple of months back. Well more than a couple it was April of 09. It was a beautiful day in Tianjin a blue sky day is the perfect time to go for a ride on the eye although I prefer the TV Tower is was still a nice trip. The whole ride lasts about 30 minutes and costs 50 RMB each.
