But with our animatics, we want to keep the casting mainly around the mane6, and with all the romantic songs it was inevitable that there would be pairings. So mentally they aren't Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, to us, they are Edmund Dashie and Shycedes.This one took forever to finish, not only is it coloured in, but we stupidly decided to shade the pictures too... Shycedes doesn't know of the betrayal and is hopeful that he will be released soon and awaits for his return. Pinkie = Joyful Laughter/Evil LaughterRainbow Dash = Loyalty/BetrayalTwilight = Magic/Science(ok so Pinkie's is a bit of a stretch, and we made it before we had this whole 'series' idea, basing her character on her birthday episode where she goes insane, but we include it in the series because instead of her laughter being for joy, it becomes sinister and evil thanks to Hyde. Which is.... kind of an opposite?? right??)We had ideas for the rest of the mane6 too. On Annabelle's DeviantArt, she's already revealed Fluttershy's series as being Phantom of the Opera (Flutters playing as the Phantom). Based a little on the episode where Flutterguy sings backstage. But also cause the Phantom is anything but Kind to those around him (manipulating the opera owners, harming Carlotta, murdering stagehands.. you know, the usual when going to the opera).Rarity was (as many of you guessed) Sweeny Todd, (with Pinkie as Mrs Lovett). I don't remember why we thought this was a good opposite to generosity, I think it's cause most of the characters are completely selfish, but whatever.And finally Applejack. She gave us a lot of trouble, we changed her musical around a few times, never settling on anything until we thought Les Mis would work. As Jean Valjean (Or Jack Valjack haha) we thought the role worked for her cause after Jean is released on parole, he decides to create a new identity, and lie to everyone about who he is. Constantly chased through the rest of his life by this lie, and Javert (who I think we were considering would be played by Luna)We're still not super sold on this musical, but ehh.And yeah, that was the Musical Mane6 series. We're not going to be continuing it. Maybe we'll do one or two songs from a musical if we feel like it, but not a full series of them like we did with MonteCristo. BatB: Evermore Storyboard Animatic Ink Potts 2020-10-28 | (This video was posted a year ago for our patrons on Patreon. We forgot about it afterwards and thought it's been long enough and want to show it to you all. The original description is down below):So over the holidays(Jan 2019), I was weirdly inspired to draw this animatic of the Beast, using the live action's song "Evermore" (The Josh Groban version). About the storyboard, I think we've all been there, wishing Animated Beast got his own song. ("Something There" doesn't count) So I was like, what if I just drew one myself. And that's how this happened.I've actually had plans to draw a Beast animatic song since even before the live-action film, I remember thinking about using one of the stage musical's solos he got. But I never did because I couldn't draw Beast back then. (Not sure I'm amazing at drawing Beast now, but it certainly was fun).I think if I went further with this and turned it into a proper animatic, I'd probs change a few scenes but overall I'm pretty happy with how this dumb idea came out.Victoria did the editing and I (Annabelle) drew it.p.s. if it seems like Beast is using his hands a ton in this video, it's because I've been drawing hooves for 5+ years and ohmygosh HANDS FINALLY.
This is Halloween Storyboard (also never getting finished) Ink Potts 2020-10-25 | (Note: I wanted to have lyric subtitles, but also a version that shows who all the ponies are on screen as you watch, so I did it in a very round-about way. You can find the options in the CC settings of this video).We're both fans of Nightmare Before Christmas, and when Halloween came around (in 2015) we decided we wanted to make an animatic using this song. Of course, we had to be extra about it and give ourselves more work. In this animatic, we had the idea of taking every costumed pony you see in the MLP Season 2 Nightmare Night special: "Luna Eclipsed", and make their costumes real. The storyboards are really sketchy and probably not eligible because they were only intended to be quick to get the ideas across, before making the proper version. But we never did, and probably never will. The Count of Monte Cristo musical.There's going to be 5 more of these so get excited :) EDIT: Featured on Equestria Daily April 8th 2014THIS IS THE FINAL PRODUCTFor those of you who don't know the story of the Count of Monte Cristo it's a little hard to explain what's going on here unless you know it. The movie is pretty good so you could check that out if you don't feel like reading, but here's a simple synopsis of what's going on for now:Twilight is playing Mondego, he is Edmund Dantes' best friend, but he's jealous of him so he plans to send Dantes to a jail so he can take his woman Mercedes. Danglars played by Applejack is the first mate on a ship. (He was supposed to be Captain but Dantes just took the spot from him, hence why he hates him). And Villefort played by Rarity is the prosecutor (or he's going to become it, can't remember). He wants Dantes gone because of some confusing reason involving treason and his family. Anyway, these men get together to send Dantes to the jail: the Chateau d'If, (its the jail people get sent if other people want everyone to think they're dead). Which is what they are planning here, and that's all you need to know for now.We did a lot of things differently this video:It's in colour.It has lyrics on screen (don't expect this every video, on screen lyrics distract from the images and sometimes we'll just want you to be immersed with what's on screen).And it was edited in After Effects CS6 for the first time. This video was a bit of a training ground for us, using it as practice for After Effects and trying out some good colouring. And while it lacks a lot of movement because they're all at a table, Sil was trying to focus on expressions and practice with that.Oh and something important about the lyrics: They May Not Be Correct. We were unable to find any official lyrics for the song, so we sort of went with what we could find of fan made lyrics. So if it sounds like the wrong person is singing or the lyrics are different to what sounds like is being said, yeah, there isn't much we can do about that.
