The heavy snowfall ended up damaging our roof when the snow slid off the metal roofing, causing some damage. Luckily, we were able to fix everything, but to prevent this from happening again we decided to get Snow Guards.Snow Guards keep the snow on your roof from sliding, allowing it to melt slowly as the weather warms up. In this video, we'll make charcloth, and then I'll show you how to throw sparks using chert (flint) and a firesteel which in this case is the spine of a survival knife. This is a great survival skill to know so that if you find yourself in a survival situation, you can prepare materials to start fires down the road. It doesn't have to be cloth. You can use certain tree barks, or natural fibers. If you don't have a tin, you can bury your materials in sand or dirt and put coals on top to heat it up. This is the basics on the process.
