The video starts off with the nationalist movements in the Indian subcontinent during the British Raj, with the emergence of the Indian National Congress, Gandhi, Nehru, and the All India Muslim League.
From there, we head to the Middle East, where we cover the transformation of the Ottoman Empire into Turkey (and many other states), and Persia into Iran, and the making of Iraq, the Saudi expansion, the Kingdom of Egypt, and Palestine and the Zionist movement. What can possibly go wrong?
From there, Marxism comes to China, as the new state forms an alliance with the Chinese Communist Party in order to unify the country. Seriously what can possibly go wrong?
Lastly, we head to Latin America, where American military intervention leads to a series of Banana Wars in Central America, and we shine a spotlight on Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico, as they sway between different types of dictatorships!
0:00 British Raj (INC, Gandhi, Nehru)
7:24 Middle East (Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Arabia, Palestine, Egypt)
36:00 China (Civil War, Long March), Japan (Taishō era)

The video picks up where our the Long 19th Century left off, with the prelude and buildup to the war, and the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. King George V and the British Parliament, Raymond Poincaré of France, Nicholas II of Russia, Woodrow Wilson of the United States, and their Italian and Japanese allies face the Central Powers of Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany, Franz Joseph of Austria-Hungary, Enver Pasha and the Ottomans, and Bulgaria, in the Great War: the war to end all wars.
We go through the conflict itself, and the different theatres, from the Western and Eastern Fronts (Marne, Somme, Verdun, Tannenburg), to the Balkans, all the way to the Middle East, Africa, and East Asia, touching on many campaigns like the Gallipoli campaign, Mesopotamian campaign, Sinai and Palestine campaign, and the different offensives like the Brusilov offensive in the East, and German Spring offensive in the West. We also go over some of the newer war technology of the time, like tanks, submarines, and fighter planes.
The Russian Revolution and the lesser known German Revolution are also covered, as well as the Russian Civil War, before we head into the social and political aftermath of the Great Powers after the end of the war, along with the new culture and art styles that flourished during the 1920s, like Art Deco and Dada.

We start off with the Enlightenment, and the various figures associated with the intellectual movement, like Voltaire and Adam Smith, but we also look at the Scientific Revolution that preceded it, with Galileo and Isaac Newton.
We next pick up where we left off in our Early Modern Europe video, taking a look at Austria, Prussia, and Russia as new major players in Europe, along with their Enlightened Absolutist monarchs, and the major wars (War of Austrian Succession, and Seven Years' War).
We then head to North America, where we pick up from our Age of Discovery video, and go through some of the Colonial Wars during the 1600s. We next check out the more major wars between the English and French during the 1700s, culminating in the French and Indian War, and leading into the American Revolution.
We then shift back to Europe, where we take a look at France during the 1700s, leading to the French Revolution. We go through the moderate phase, First French Republic, Reign of Terror, Thermidorian Reaction, and Napoleon's rise to power, along with the French Revolutionary Wars.
Our final chapter focuses on Napoleon as France's head of state, becoming Emperor and the various Napoleonic Wars that follow.
It serves as the last episode for our Early Modern megadocumentary, and should be the final piece in our look at history across the world from 1500 - 1800. All in just 2 hours 22 minutes and 22 seconds!

We start off where our last megadocumentary left off, with the Ming is nearing its end. While meeting with the Jesuits brought cultural exchange, the Ming soon faced economic, social, and military problems as the Jurchen coalesced into a mighty power in Manchuria, and elevated themselves as a new dynasty, the Qing. After peasant rebellions brought the end of the Ming, the Qing entered and brought stability.
We next go over the influential early Qing rulers, Kangxi, Yongzheng, and Qianlong, and the annexation of Taiwan from Ming loyalists. We then go through the 4 Dzungar-Qing Wars, which resulted in the Qing Empire seizing Mongolia, Tibet, and Xinjiang, to become one of the largest empires in history. After the White Lotus Rebellion, we then deal with culture and literature during the Late Ming and Early Qing and the empires early relations with Western powers, setting up the period of conflict which will come next series.
We then travel to Japan, which remained in the Sengoku Period. The go through the journey of Oda Nobunaga, and Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who ended the Sengoku and united Japan, and Tokugawa Ieyasu, who eventually set up the Tokogawa Shogunate, marking the beginning of the Edo Period, the most prosperous and long lasting in Feudal Japan. We take a look at literature and art styles as well in the new urbanized Japanese cities, all centered around Ukiyo, or the 'floating world'. We also touch on their interactions with Europeans, Christianity, and their Sakoku policy.
Joseon Korea is next, as we focus on the Imjin War and the defense of Admiral Yi Sun-Sin and his famous turtle ships, and invasions by the Jurchen and Manchu.
In Vietnam, we pick up where we left off, and go through the rise of the Le Dynasty, the Mac Dynasty, the Trinh and Nguyen Lords, and finally the Tay Son Rebellion which leads us into the 1800s.
This is the 4th episode of our Early Modern series, which goes over the history of the world from roughly 1500 to 1800. The last episode dealt with the so-called Gunpowder Empires, the Ottomans, Safavid Iran, and Mughal India.

We will first go over the Ottoman Empire in 4 phases, starting with its founding and initial Balkan expansions and capture of Constantinople. Then we shift into its Golden Age, with the expansion into the Middle East, and further Balkan expansion under Suleiman the Magnificent. There is then a period of transformation and a shift towards governance and bureaucracy, before a period of decentralization in the 1700s.
We then travel to Persia, and the founding of the Safavid Dynasty, which grew to control much of Iran. We go through their conflicts with the Uzbeks and Ottomans, and their peak under Abbas the Great, before their decline to the Afghans, and the establishment of the Afsharids under Nader Shah. We take a short look at the Zand dynasty which came to power afterwards, and the foundation of the first Afghan state.
From there, its a short jump to India and the establishment of the Mughal Empire. We will go over how under Babur, they took power from the declining Delhi Sultanate, and became a dominant power under Akbar the Great. After covering the controversial reign of Aurangzeb, we go over the many wars that decentralized the subcontinent, and the rise of the British East India Company, which would become the major power in the region by the end of our time period.
As always, there will also be lots about their arts, culture, and architecture, like the Tulip Period and stunning mosques of the Ottomans, the beautiful Safavid capital of Isfahan, and the building of the Taj Mahal and great forts at Agra and Delhi.

We will go over the significant events of this period, starting with social life, the invention of the printing press, and the spread of the Renaissance out of Italy and the forms it took across the Alps. We then delve into how this led to the Reformation, first in Germany with Luther, and then in Switzerland with Zwingli and Calvin. We visit Tudor England under Henry VIII, Queen Elizabeth I and the English Reformation. The Catholic Church responds with the Counter Reformation and stunning Baroque Art styles emerge.
The Reformation leads into a series of Wars of Religion from the mid 1500s to mid 1600s. We go over the wars in France, the Spanish wars against the Dutch, the Wars of the Three Kingdoms in the British Isles, and finally the devastating Thirty Years War. There are also parts about social and economic change, focusing on the rise of mercantilism and the Witch Hunts.
This leads into the Age of Absolutism, marked by the reign of Louis XIV in France in the late 1600s. We go over 3 of his wars, with a focus on the War of Spanish Succession.
We end with a brief look at the new European powers of the 1700s, the Prussians, Austrians, and Russians.
It is the 2nd episode of our Early Modern series, which goes over the history of the world from roughly 1500 to 1800. The 1st episode dealt with the Age of Discovery.

Dating of the Jōmon sub-phases is based primarily upon ceramic typology, and to a lesser extent radiocarbon dating.
Recent findings have refined the final phase of the Jōmon period to 300 BCE. The Yayoi period started between 500 and 300 BCE according to radio-carbon evidence, while Yayoi styled pottery was found in a Jōmon site of northern Kyushu already in 800 BCE..
