I couldn't resist, I had to make a smash 4 cover, even though it's yet another hype train I'm jumping on. I'll probably make something more "classic" next time, don't worry. Soooo I haven't uploaded anything in a while... I know, I'm slow as hell, BUT I have a few reasons. First, I decided to switch from Pro Tools to Reaper, so I had to learn to use it, even though it's not too different. Then I reworked all of my guitar tones (again), made big changes in my overall mix, especially on the drum tracks, and improved my so-called mastering so it doesn't sound like complete garbage. Some of you may notice that my mix has improved quite a bit compared to my previous covers, and that took a while to accomplish. It's still far from perfect, and I can't say I'm totally satisfied yet, but I had to give up and upload it at one point so... there it is. It's pretty short so I wouldn't mind tabbing the whole thing if some of you are interested. Just drop a comment like "TABS PLZ ;_;" or something.Oh and try not to have a seizure during the solo, I went a little overboard with da shreds... theehee

My very first anime cover. Quite a fat one I must say. This took me a lot more time than I care to admit. Even then, the mix is still rough and could have used a bit more work, but medleys are a real pain to mix, especially when they're 10 minutes long, and this was taking forerver, so... I kind of feel bad for not uploading as often as I would like, but this one is so long that it has to count for at least two, maybe three videos, so it makes up for it, right? At first I wanted to make a single cover of Sagitta Luminis, which is why it's by far the longest song of the medley, but I felt it was kind of lacking by itself. So yeah, things happened and I ended with a 10 minutes medley including most of my favourite songs from the soundtrack. I guess you could see this as a Sagitta Luminis cover with a somewhat long into in the form of a medley, and with a little extra at the end.As you can see, I included some acoustic guitar this time in order to keep the feel of the original soundtrack. This is pretty much my first recording with actual acoustic instruments, so it might not sound as good as it should.Oh yeah, and I can't play the whistle for shit, but absolutely I had to include it, sorry about that. For some reason, my camera can't seem to make up it's mind when I'm recording, so the white balance is once again all over the place. I'll try to figure out what's wrong with my settings next time, I hope you guys don't mind too much. I know, it's been a while... At first I couldn't decide which song to make, then I ran into a bunch of problems with my PC and Pro Tools, and all of this kinda turned me into a lazy bum, so it took me forever to make this cover in the end... But I'm just making excuses, I still gotta work on that discipline and I need to stop hesitating on which song to make for weeks. That being said, I also felt like taking it easy after the insane week that followed FJ7X's contest announcement. To be completely honest, I'm kinda disappointed I only received an honorable mention, I wanted all that juicy visibility, but whatever, I guess next time I'll have to stop caring about playing/mixing well and get myself a green screen and "exotic" instruments (no offense, hehe). About this one, it was my biggest challenge to arrange yet, as both original songs are orchestral arrangements with weird electronic percussions and noises, which made them quite difficult to interpret. I think I still managed to keep an authentic feel while keeping things interesting. Just like my Great Sea cover, this one also has an actual solo, which could have been more elaborate, but it does the job I guess. Let me know what you think. Now let's see if I can finally come up with a new cover in 2-3 weeks like I originally planned. Why does everything have a yellowish tint? I must have messed up the white balance on my camera, let's just say it's to add a nostalgic feeling. (Actually nevermind, its blueish now that I have changed the color temperature settings on youtube, whatever) I could go on and on about this one, but the deadline a awfully close so there's no time for a long description! I already hear you saying "dude, it looks like you're only playing half the notes in the intro, what sorcery is this?". Well you would be right, I'm only playing half the notes, the other half are played by a delay with 0% feedback and 50% mix. It took me a while to figure out what the hell was going on with that synth line, and that's the closest thing I found. Also, I feel this is a step forward compared to my previous covers in terms of mixing and audio quality. I actually started using multi-band compressors for my guitar sounds, and holy hell do they make a big difference. Even though the mixing was really rushed in order to meet the deadline, I think I'm getting there. I've been requested to put mp3/wav download links, so I'll look into after I cool down a bit, it's been one crazy week... Goin' for gold.
