Folding Laundry Drying Rack Mitch Deitrich 2016-11-14 | This is a folding laundry drying rack. Maybe called a clothes drying rack. It is a copy of a rack my wife got from our neighbor. Cool basic build. (But the the geometry confused me for a sec. lol) I did this without a drill press or a lath, so yes it can be done! The Original did not have lag bolts. Rather dowels stepped down on a lathe from 3/4" to 1/2". I Used 1" dowels and 1/4" Lag bolts, (3" & 2.5") plus 3/4" & 1" washers. Table Saw Sled to Make FeatherBoards Mitch Deitrich 2017-06-09 | This is a table saw sled that I made to make featherboars. In the end it is nothing more than a small cheap crosscut sled that I call a jig. I chose to make the finger about 3/16" so I went with that size gap between the blade and the dummy finger. That is the aluminum piece that holds the last cut finger gap. The slot for the blade is cut at 30 degrees. Really worked well for me. I had thought about making the aluminum piece removable or adjustable but decided it wasn't necessary. If this sled was supper square maybe I would have. I did not use any 5 cut method.... DIY FeatherBoards PVC Mitch Deitrich 2017-05-26 | This is my version of a featherboard. I used PVC board that I bought from Lowes. This stuff has a nice elastic feel when cut into feather boards. I think it will hold up for a long time. The fingers are cut to about the same thickness as a full kerf table saw blade. Maybe just a bit thicker. 3/16" at most. The gap or spacing is well 1/8". Size and length very and I'm not sure I will ever find a perfect size.... which is why I decided to make my own. This way I can easily make them as needed in the future. Build a Benchtop ROUTER TABLE | DIY Mitch Deitrich 2017-03-22 | DIY ROUTER TABLE I made this bench top router table with wood scraps and pieces I had laying around. This could easily be turned into a standalone router table or as some call it a router station. The plywood was a bit wavy so I used epoxy glaze coat to self level the top in two applications. This seems to have worked really well for me. This is my first router table build and was a lot of fun! My overall cost was about $100. Honestly the base plate was most of that. I personally wanted a base plate for for two reasons. DIY Tiki Torch | Mason Jar & Custom Pole Mitch Deitrich 2016-09-22 | TIKI TORCH TIME! D.I.Y.In this video I show you how I make a custom Tiki Torch. I used a one quart mason jar for the lantern part. The pole is made from pine and the top that holds the jar is oak. This was fun to build and I used entirely "scrap" or left over wood. I used 550 (camouflage) cord for the wrap on the handle. 1/4" round steel stock for the spick. Yes it will rust...doesn't bother me. Height Chart | Router TEMPLATE Build Mitch Deitrich 2016-09-02 | All the slots are cut at 3/8". I then use a 3/8" router template guide with a 1/4" round over bit. DIY Height Chart Ruler Mitch Deitrich 2016-09-02 | Ok so this height chart was a lot of fun to build. Most of these start a 6" off the floor. I made a couple and yes the 6" rule is good. The one I made for me daughter was 5" off the floor. To my surprise the trim in her room was 5.75". So I had the pleasure of trimming and re-staining the bottom edge! I never changed my plans and the end result is more of a table, coffee table, maybe a better called a Kool-Aid table. Popsicle Stick Planter Box | 5 Gal. Bucket Liner Mitch Deitrich 2016-05-21 | This planter box is a hexagon made of large POPSICLE sticks! I designed it to accept a standard five gallon bucket as the liner for planting flowers or plants of one's choosing. Really quite a simple build. If I were to do this again I would have shortened it up a few inches and also spaced out the sticks a little better. However, It turned out good. If anyone is wondering how I did the printing for the jokes. I just used plastic coated parchment paper and ran it threw my inkjet printer. Quit a pain since the paper had a natural cruel to it. I learned that the printing ink should be put on before painting (the ink will bead and not dry on spray paint). Also, be very careful with the water based spar urethane as it will smear the ink. Even after the ink dries over night. One quick brush and let it dry! Then repeat. Workbench Project Mitch Deitrich 2016-03-25 | I made this work bench for my garage. Over a few weekends. It is 11' 6' long and is made of pine lumber. I used 2x10x12's on the top, mostly 2x4's are used for the frame with the exception of the center part of the legs. Those are rough cut 4x4's I had laying around. 1x6's for the bottom shelf. Getting the top seams to line up took a lot of sanding with 40 grit. They were to big for me to run through the table saw myself so I sanded and sanded. I did run skews threw the top and then filled with wood filler. I wanted strength. Plus the top boards are not glued so I can replace as needed (It's a work bench right?). This thing is big, heavy, and solid!Here are some of the pictures I took when I made my workbench. I heavily modified some plans for Ana White http://www.ana-white.com/2012/08/plans/55-fancy-x-deskI made a computer desk with the plans from the link. I liked it so much I used the same concept to build the legs and what not for this workbench. Basically took the idea and rolled it into this.
Bunny Rabbit Chew Stick Thing Mitch Deitrich 2016-03-20 | I thought I would make something for my daughters rabbit to chew on. I'm not sure if it will work since I really have no knowledge of what a rabbit wants, needs, or likes. However, this was a good opportunity to get my daughter involved with some basic tools and construction. Well, and spend time with me in the shop! I used oak and maple (fire wood) some scrap plastic and one screw. No finish or wood sealer of any kind was used.
