I've been a little bit more welcoming of tablets as possible as ereading devices especially for comic books. I don't like to collect issues of comics but volumes so they are huge sometimes to carry.
I am also reading old literary classics and sometimes technical manuals so I can see a benefit towards having tablets. Also I live in a not so decent part of the city and I am afraid of me and my laptop being harmed. So I didn't want to spend a load of money on a tablet either, let a alone a 500+ dollar ipad. I don't remember how exactly I found out about the tablet but never mind that.
Let's just say Kohls 30% off and 30 dollars cash back, and 20 dollar rebate had something to do with it. So I was able to get the tablet for around 110 ish dollars. Still waiting for rebate.
Doing more research on the tablet I realized it housed a decent GPU. A mali-400 found in high end phones and tablets. Hmmm I thought. Can it play ps1 games? 3d android games? N64?!?!?
Also this is the newer pandigital planet remake with 512mb ram.
The early planets only had 256mb and ran an older version of android.
Before we get into the gaming part: I just wanna say slatedroid pandigital planet forums was where I learned how to root it. Internet browsing is smooth. and it can play 720p videos beautifully, and 720p through hdmi out, even though it's not in the video .
Yes! it can emulate games almost perfectlly with its gimp 800mhz cpu. Which is amazing I thought. Planescape torment was running smoothly. Only problem as you can see in the video is that half the dialog box is missing for some unknown reason.
N64 is a bit choppy but playable as you can see in the end.
And 3d android games are very smooth.
Oh and the case. Case had that funky new car smell and toxic chemical smell or fake leather. Had to air it out and clean it with alcohol. Can't believe no one on amazon mentioned that. just search 7 inch tablet case with keyboard on amazon and there's quite a few copies of varying prices. Has a keyboard so I can map buttons to them. Since the planet doesn't have multitouch( Although it can pinch and zoom on webpages perfectly...)
Anyways I think keyboard mapping is also better than touchscreen controls due to tactile feedback but that's just my opinion.
Course it can play snes, genesis, blah blah blah. Scummvm works too.
PS1 works great. Perfect.
All in all, I am happy. Found a portable device that can play old school games, read comics, read books, has a built in dictionary, and other stuff that I don't really care about.
I did spend hours just looking for and downloading android apps. Interesting software platform.
battery life? 3-6 hours with juicedefender. 3 hours or less when play games. 6 hours when just reading.
Also stand by mode sucks. I mean literally sucks battery life to death. Doesn't work.
But hey its 100 something bucks(92 dollars to be exact and 20 bucks kohls cash). I could've bought both, a generic fps on ps3 or 360, and zelda #95894358394 for the wii, for 100 something bucks but nope, I went to to kohls, walked by women's lingerie section head held high, and bought a pandigital planet.
Should you do the same? I don't know. I remember a portable console called Openpandora that cost 300 dollars I think a a year ago designed to emulate old games. The planet is like my openpandora and then some I think.
If that sounds good to you, go for it, but I wouldn't spend more than 120 bucks for it. Also keep in mind this is a resistive touch screen. No bluetooth/gps
The ainol novo 7 with ice cream sandwich os might be up your alley and a bit stronger too.

Was developed by Melbourne House, the same developers of Test Drive Le Mans on the Dreamcast. They also made a pretty good Transformers game for the ps2 in 2004. Sadly not many people bought their games. This game imo has one of the best graphics and gameplay for the ps2. In an interview with gamespot melbourne house stated that this game runs at 60fps with 22 cars on the road. The cars have 11k polygons each, more than twice as much as GT4. However this game may not appeal to people due to the simple reason that it is not photorealistic. But in it is a solid sim-arcade experience. Some grand prix fans have stated that this is one of the best F1 console games. it doesnt have "real" time reflections of GT4, or the photorealistic design, but it still looks imo very good. There are some reflections like on the cars though. After playing GT and forza so much a change in art design was welcomed by me. Most importantly it is very fun. It doesnt handle like any f1 game i played. In a way its harder in that it requires careful judgement in how you turn and accelerate. I think a driving wheel would be more suited for this game. . There is some damage not much.
this game was released first in the PAL areas in 2002, then the states in 2003. Very early ps2 game that looked very good.
