Williamsburg Bridge Walking Tour - NYC’s Lesser-Known Path Magellan and Greyhound 2024-08-18 | Today we're going to take you on a walking tour of one of NYC's lesser-known paths - the Williamsburg Bridge, which connects the two amazing neighborhoods of the Lower East Side in Manhattan with Williamsburg in Brooklyn. At one time the longest suspension bridge span in the world from when it was completed in 1903 up until 1924, the Williamsburg is definitely a local's bridge. No bells or whistles, no perfect photo ops or views, no crowds or waits - it's just a long pink and graffiti strewn walking path that basically gets you from one place to another. There are views, but nothing is that spectacular, and yet the path itself does have a quintessential New York City grit and character to it. There always seems to be construction on it too. Breakneck Ridge Hike (Long Loop plus Mount Beacon Fire Tower) Magellan and Greyhound 2024-07-14 | Breakneck Ridge is one of the most popular hikes in the Hudson Highlands, just north of New York City. Today we’re taking the long loop, where we’ll show you all the cool viewpoints and the Mount Beacon Fire Tower, plus we brought our cute Yorkie Zeus, and who doesn't want to bring their dog with them on a hike? Located in Hudson Highlands State Park, the trailhead to this amazing hike is located along the Hudson River and Route 9D in the town of Cold Spring, New York. You can either drive or take the Metro North to the trailhead with limited service on the weekends to the Breakneck Station. Otherwise, tag along as we show you this roughly 9 mile, 2800 feet elevation gain beauty of a hike. It is especially beautiful during the fall, but timing the colors is definitely not easy. Statue of Liberty / Ellis Island Tour - New York City Magellan and Greyhound 2024-06-30 | The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, two iconic places to visit in New York City, should be on your bucket list. Both accessible by the same ferry, one is where roughly 12 million immigrants arrived from 1892 to 1954, the busiest immigration processing center in the United States and the other, sitting in the middle of New York Harbor and gifted by the people of France, is one of the most recognizable statues in the world and a symbol of freedom throughout the world. Today we're taking a tour to see both, to check out the grounds, pedestal and head up inside of the crown of Lady Liberty herself on Liberty Island as well as checking out the history of immigration on Ellis Island at the museum. If you're thinking about going up to the crown, be sure to book tickets well in advance, sometimes months. Greater Cleveland Aquarium Tour - Cleveland, Ohio Magellan and Greyhound 2024-06-16 | The Greater Cleveland Aquarium in Ohio near Lake Erie is a fantastic place to visit if you're near Cleveland or traveling around the Great Lakes. Opened in the historic Powerhouse building of the city’s Flats district in 2012, which was designed to generate electricity for Cleveland's streetcars, this Aquarium is actually the city’s second aquarium - the first having closed in 1985. In addition to checking out native species to Ohio's lakes and rivers, the aquarium showcases various fish from around the world and has a really nice shark gallery and sea tube as well. Hopefully you like our tour of this small, but really well done aquarium. Marblehead Lighthouse Tour, Lake Erie, Ohio Magellan and Greyhound 2024-06-09 | Marblehead Lighthouse on Lake Erie in Ohio is the oldest lighthouse on the Great Lakes and one of its best known landmarks. Located within Marblehead Lighthouse State Park in Lakeside Marblehead, the lighthouse was built in 1822 out of native limestone and is 50 feet high. In 1958, the light, now a green LED that flashes every six seconds, was automated after the U.S. Coast Guard assumed responsibility. From Memorial Day to Labor Day between noon and 4pm, you can climb to the top, up its 77 steps and see nice views of Lake Erie, the massive amusement park Cedar Point and Kelleys Island. There is also a museum you can tour and check out a Fresnel lens, as well as the history of Marblehead Lighthouse, in the former house where the lighthouse keepers lived. Our Total Solar Eclipse Trip to Cleveland, Ohio (Vlog - April 8, 2024) Magellan and Greyhound 2024-04-11 | Our last minute trip to Cleveland, Ohio for the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024 was exhilarating, exhausting and totally worth it. Our goal was to be front and center in the path of totality and we were thankful that we had family we could stay with to experience those otherworldly three plus minutes. We are pretty sure that you can watch much better footage on television or the internet (NASA, you have the best stuff), but we do hope that you like our vlog. Adler Planetarium Tour - Chicago, Illinois Magellan and Greyhound 2023-10-20 | The Adler Planetarium in Chicago, Illinois is the first planetarium in the Western Hemisphere and is located in the Museum Campus alongside Lake Michigan, near the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium and Soldier Field. It was founded in 1930 and is dedicated to astronomy and astrophysics. During our tour, we'll check out moon exploration, space capsules, astronauts, the solar system and planets, that sweet city skyline, an observatory, and take in a Pink Floyd show, the 50th Anniversary of Dark Side of the Moon. For those who watched our video, since no photos or videos of the dome shows are allowed, the @adlerplanetarium put out a teaser trailer for the show, which we'll link below. Miami, Florida - 30 Things To Do! Magellan and Greyhound 2023-10-13 | Miami and Miami Beach. Key Largo. Biscayne and Everglades National Park. Our road trip to South Florida was epic. Whether snorkeling, swimming or cruising on boat tours with views of city skylines, lighthouses or backcountry mangroves, the Miami area has so many things to do. We also went flyboarding -- what is that?!?! -- and parasailing, checked out the Wynwood Walls while painting our own mural, visited the Miami Zoo and went dancing at a club on Ocean Drive. All of this made us very hungry, of course, which is why we indulged on delicious Cuban food all over the city, especially Cubanos and medianoches. There were a fair share of breweries too. In this particular video, we'll try to show you as much as possible that we did (and almost did) in Miami. We've been here a few times, and would never pass up the chance to visit again. In this particular video, we visited Everglades National Park for the second time. Home to nine distinct ecosystems, the Everglades is a land of many superlatives: the largest contiguous mangrove forest in the western hemisphere, one of the largest wetlands in the world, the largest subtropical wilderness in North America, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, an International Biosphere Reserve and the only place in the world where alligators and crocodiles coexist. Whether snorkeling, swimming or cruising on boat tours with views of city skylines, lighthouses or backcountry mangroves, the Miami area has so many things to do. We also went flyboarding -- what is that?!?! -- and parasailing, checked out the Wynwood Walls while painting our own mural, visited the Miami Zoo and went dancing at a club on Ocean Drive. All of this made us very hungry, of course, which is why we indulged on delicious Cuban food all over the city, especially Cubanos and medianoches. There were a fair share of breweries too. In this particular video, we took a boat tour out into Biscayne National Park, 95% of which is underwater, and saw three lighthouses - Cape Florida, Fowey Rocks and Boca Chita - as well as Stiltsville. We also explored Boca Chita Key, the most visited island in the park. In this particular video, we went parasailing for the first time out of the Miami Marina in South Beach and taking in the epic sights above Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. It was pretty incredible and surprisingly, Greyhound got the jitters more than Magellan. We think we did pretty good for beginners.
