DIY Aquarium Divider Solid Gold Aquatics 2019-06-22 | How to make a simple aquarium divider for betta fish or other fish using plastic canvas and other common materials from the craft store. As promised, here's a video tutorial showing how I made the aquarium dividers shown in my betta fish video from a few weeks ago. These are SO simple and inexpensive to make! Plus if you're concerned about your fish being able to see one-another through the plastic canvas, you can even use a double layer (offset the layers so they can't see through). If you do that, I would recommend using a sponge filter in each section of the divided tank because that will cut down on water flow between sections quite a bit. Make sure your dividers go all the way up to tank lid too, because bettas are really good jumpers! My Leopard Gecko Terrariums 1 Year Later... Solid Gold Aquatics 2019-04-13 | My leopard geckos -Sylvia and Rune- have been set up in their naturalistic terrariums for a year now, so it's time for an update on how they've been doing. Sylvia recently had a bit of a health scare with nearly becoming egg bound, which prompted a trip to the vet and almost needing surgery to remove her egg! Getting Goldfish Through TSA?! Solid Gold Aquatics 2018-08-18 | Follow along during my Minnesota meet-up event and watch as I bring home some new fish from a subscriber. I brought them safely (and legally! lol) through the TSA security check as a carry-on item on the airplane ride back home to Florida. DISCLAIMER: If you want to try bringing live fish on a plane as well, I would highly recommend checking with your airline ahead of time to ensure they don't have any rules against it or extra fees involved. For reference, I flew Delta and had no issues. If possible, it would be best to pack your fish inside a styrofoam box or other insulated box/bag, but these guys remained cool for my entire trip. Please note that this only works for domestic flights within the USA and you obviously cannot transport live fish species into an area where they are not allowed. PLEASE DO NOT ILLEGALLY SMUGGLE LIVE ANIMALS! Always make sure you're following the laws and regulations.Also! Feeding My Goldfish - the fun way! Solid Gold Aquatics 2018-07-04 | Today I used Super Gold gel food to simulate algae growing on rocks for my goldfish to eat. Goldfish are part of the carp family, and carp are scavengers that search around all day for bits of food here and there. One of their favorite activities is to eat algae off of underwater surfaces, and since my tank isn't exactly growing a lush wall of algae, I took matters into my own hands.
