Beginner friendly tutorial - learn to make this Sophie Shawl inspired crochet scarf. With a pretty horizontal stitch detailing and classic silhouette, this project is super simple to make.
After completing the set up row, begin repeating rows 1 to 4, increasing every 4th row until you have 53 stitches or half of your yarn is used up. Continue to repeat rows 1 to 4 but swap the increase for a decrease, until you reach the original number of stitches.
The pattern sample uses 300g of Hobbii Friends Extrafine Merino XL in the shade chocolate with a 5mm hook, and for demonstration purposes I'm using the brand new Bella Coco Merino yarn. Thank you to Hobbii for very kindly gifting me the yarn to make this project.
The finished measurements of the scarf are approximately 285cm in length by 30cm at its widest point. The gauge is 15 stitches by 12 rows to 10cm by 10cm measured in half trebles. Please adjust your hook size accordingly if you do not meet gauge.
The written pattern is available in UK and US crochet terminology and can be purchased here:

UK Double Crochet = US Single Crochet
UK Half Treble Crochet = US Half Double Crochet
Happy crocheting!

Hello, and thank you for stopping by π₯° This is my first quiet, no talking vlog - a peaceful video where you can relax with me while I knit and crochet. Come and spend some time with me as I work on my projects.
In this video I'm working on my Moby Sweater by PetiteKnit, using Sandnes Garn in shade 1053; and my corner to corner moss stitch blanket using mini skeins. All of the mini skeins are 4 ply sock yarn (merino/nylon) and come from various dyers, but mainly from Beehive Yarns. I'm using a 3.5mm hook.
β¨ You can find the tutorial for the blanket here: youtu.be/zx6IsKfKVho

I've used a Scheepjes Whirl (1000m/215g) in the shade Pastel Parfait and a 3.5mm hook. You can use any yarn weight for this pattern but please bear in mind that the thicker the yarn, the bigger the shawl will work up. You will also need to adjust your hook size accordingly.
If you prefer written instructions you can purchase a copy of the pattern in my Etsy shop or Ravelry Store.
