Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower (LVL4 NG+6)

I'm still too scared to get behind the Black Knife Assassin during the lunge move, but otherwise this turned out fine. Picking new equipment is starting to feel like throwing darts at a board. I liked some of the ideas I came up with, but some of these are scraping the bottom of the barrel.
Of course I had to use the Bolt of Gransax against the Tree Sentinel duo, so I used something different for the Night's Cavalry this time. I will likely use the Alabaster Lord's Sword again on the Full-Grown Fallingstar Beast, but who knows? It seemed especially useful, but not particularly fun to watch.

I tried several setups to pull off that trick against Radahn, but other weapon skills were too slow or did not have enough range. The Envoy's Greathorn would definitely work though, so that could have been amusing. Once I settled on the Moonveil, it was actually very consistent. The gist is that you have to defeat Radahn before he collides with the ground, which happens at a certain point in the animation. Unless you use a long range skill, you have to approach him during the phase transition so you can hit him before he crashes down.
There are some other neat quirks here too. Playing aggressively against Commander O'Neil will often cause the crossbow bolts to miss, so that strategy looks sloppier than it actually is. Still, I got the win before I had a definitive method to make the mobs miss their shots. Also, the stairs by the Black Blade Kindred are steep enough to (occasionally) jump over the stab attack. I felt like I had to do it. Also, the initial slam of Prelate's Charge has an AOE large enough to hit behind the character, which worked out more perfectly than I could have imagined.
On another note, the Putrid Crystalian trio is a shell of its former glory. They don't drop that many runes, so perhaps FromSoftware didn't intend them to be too difficult, but they were originally one of the most nightmarish encounters in the game.

An interesting detail about this game is that the rain affects fire and lightning damage in the obvious ways. I wish I could always make it rain when I'm using a fire weapon so the bosses would last slightly longer. Regardless, you can combo a lot of bosses from 100 to 0, but I still tried to make it interesting. For example, the Misbegotten Warrior can be repeatedly knocked down, so you don't have to properly fight him. Similarly, the Crucible Knight doesn't have much of a second phase if you land an extra critical hit before the phase transition, so I swapped my weapon instead of parrying an extra time. If only FromSoftware knew which bosses I would or would not want to cheese, and adjusted their HP values and AI behaviors accordingly.

In actuality, these were mostly uninteresting. I don't think I had as much room to be clever about these weapon selections, given the poor variety of bosses. Although, I found spears fun to use on the dragon bosses, so I will probably pick other spear weapons to use on the rest of the dragons.
As for Alecto, I didn't have the best strategy. Next time I will have to learn from my dawg who actually knows how to handle this boss: youtu.be/TRuZaO-rRqA

After fighting the Fire Giant several times and gradually improving my strategy, I started to experiment with jump attacks during the first half of the fight. It's so much more effective that I had to completely rework how I punish every attack. Staggering him in phase 2 is not so reliable, so it seems better to go for quick combos, so I didn't learn anything new in phase 2.
There's a particular maneuver I wanted to show off in this fight, and I'm glad he gave me two opportunities to do it: after he summons the fireball mine (1:40), you can trigger it to explode as you dodge under him for the big shield slam, then jump to the opposite side of his foot to safely attack him. The dynamics of the fireball are one of the most interesting parts of phase 1, since some attacks make it tricky to play aggressively while the fireball is roaming around.
I messed up my spacing a bit at 3:45. Since I was so close to him, I didn't feel comfortable dodging away. The fire pillars usually give you a good opportunity to attack his hand, but I had to settle on attacking his leg instead. Other than that, I thought this fight was pretty good.

The final phase has a few change-ups that you won't see much of because Rykard's phase transition gives you so much free damage, but you can often skip the final phase transition and get straight to the meat of the last phase. I think it works the same as any other transition skip, i.e. just stagger the boss around the HP threshold and spam a lot of damage before he gets up, but I only had this happen when I used a lot of heavy attacks. For Rykard's last phase, he regains some of the serpent's moveset, which he can intersperse with a standard combo (e.g. 2:25), or quickly follow an attack with a full 3-hit combo (2:35).
You could also be more optimal with this combo at 1:48; when you jump over the sword and land a heavy attack (1:53), you can also immediately follow with an extra light attack if you are in the right position to provoke the slow stab attack (1:55), which you can easily dodge and finish the rest of the combo as normal. You can also use a light attack during the very first swing of the combo, but you have to be quick about it, so I did not have enough stamina to do this comfortably. I show a bit more in my other fights:

This includes all bosses of the upper Limgrave region, i.e. anything on the map under the subsections Limgrave, Stormhill, and Stranded Graveyard. Many of these are standard enemies, and many of these have stronger variants later on, so hardly any of them put up a fight. Ultimately, I did these just for the sake of completion, but some of them were kinda fun and have a lot of depth despite their brevity. The Tree Sentinel is an excellent boss, for example.
I farmed all the weapons in NG just so I could do something like this. There's a lot of potential with nearly every weapon in the game being very strong, especially if you pay attention to damage types and such.
I show the talismans at the end for each of these, but as for the Wondrous Physick, I use whatever stat boost to cater to the weapon requirements and an elemental damage boost. For the twin hammer setup, I used the Stonebarb Cracked Tear.
Also, I didn't even use the most optimal setups for these. For most situations, the Ritual Sword Talisman is better than the Scorpion Charms since it boosts all damage, but for pure elemental attacks, obviously the Scorpion Charms are better. So basically, whether you lean on skills that do pure elemental damage or melee attacks that utilize split damage, you'll either be better off with the Scorpion Charms or Ritual Sword Talisman, respectively. Also, auxiliaries are very broken so I avoid bleed weapons for the most part.

A bit longer fight than the first one, but I tried to make sure the boss does just about everything here. Just like the first round, I didn't always stay close at certain points, like the retreating attack at 3:24. This allows him to get away and try some ranged attacks. Otherwise, it feels like a soft loop of only melee attacks. When he does fly away, I take my time to let him decide if he wants to breathe fire or not. He doesn't like to for some reason, but it looks cool when he does.
For several of the standard melee attacks, you can attack his face twice. However, if you are low on stamina or too close for the left claw swipes (0:54), it can be tricky to avoid optimally. I missed out on a solid attack opportunity because of that. As you can see elsewhere, (e.g. 0:42, 1:56) my strategy is to run away so that I can out-space the lightning burst, then go in for a jump attack. Likewise, I usually manage to stay back for the single bite (2:01) and land a standing L1, but I think I had to roll here to avoid getting hit.
Overall, a solid demonstration of my strategy, but I can fight him faster if I choose to:

Overall, I thought this was one of the best demonstrations from the several fights I did. There are a few examples of stamina mismanagement or poor positioning, so occasionally I don't get to attack as often as possible, and I don't bother attacking in between the double lightning spike (e.g. 2:05, 3:40) since it can be difficult to time my attacks between the intervals of lingering lightning. Other than that, the biggest mistake was around 2:32. Since Fortissax summoned the deathblight, it would have been tricky to find a safe spot to attack behind him, so I moved to the front.
When he flies up and breathes fire (1:34), or he does a retreating attack (2:54), or if you're generally outside of melee range, he's prone to flying away. So, you can manipulate him by staying close. Naturally, the less you let him fly away, the less time the fight takes, but I liked having him use more of his moveset including some of these time-wasting moves.

This boss is alright. I just didn't feel like fighting him, so I've been doing other things. Either this boss or the gargoyles are required to enter Deeproot Depths and complete Fia's quest, but this path has a sealed gate that requires you to defeat Morgott as well. I suppose I could have done this boss more efficiently if I attack while he's summoning flames from above, but that attack covers a surprisingly large area, so I decided to run away instead.
This felt surprisingly quick even though I don't attack as often as possible. Being too close and aggressive makes some of his attacks harder to avoid, and he becomes prone to stopping his combos short. This has been a recurring issue throughout the game for me; the most intuitive or efficient strategies make the AI too simplified.
Much like Radahn, I tried to make this boss look more interesting, but his AI just doesn't live up to the potential of his whole moveset. This is still one of my favorite bosses in the game, but it could have been even better.
round 2: youtu.be/O0ibwMRs6Hc
Godfrey has a lot of combos that he rarely uses because his position checks are calibrated poorly. If you're slightly too far to one side, or even too close to him, he just decides he doesn't feel like attacking anymore. So, if you're playing intuitively by dodging according to the direction of his attacks, it's too easy to stick to his sides since he doesn't do his full combos.
I went out of my way to make sure he actually uses his attacks, but he still often cuts his combos short. I think this ultimately looks more like how the developers intended it, but the boss could have been better.
round 2: youtu.be/nfJA9A-qCm8
This feels like another filler boss, but what can you do? There are several other tree sentinels roaming around, but this one is required for the route I take through the game. I forgot to post this earlier, and I haven't played the game since last week. I'll get back to it later.

round 2: youtu.be/pzGvs2ZdXSc
This is one of the most enjoyable easy bosses in my opinion. I wanted to show that you can dodge the multiple AOEs (1:44) at close range if you need to, but you have to dodge a bit early. It's useful if you play too aggressively and end up too close, or if you suffer the stamina depletion penalty that prevents you from running. For the tail attack (2:33), it's better to use a jump attack into the combo. I usually refrain from using the jump attack if my stamina is low, but that wouldn't have been a problem here. Also, I felt a bit safer spam dodging during the meteors, but that's not necessary when you run along the right path.
This is one of the easiest main bosses in the game, but at least it has a neat tranquil aesthetic. Lighting all the fires to find the Ancestor Spirit felt like a classic video game secret, and I was really charmed that this stronger version gains the rolling move that the goats also have.
I didn't feel like fighting it again though, so this is the first fight that I won. I think it shows the strategy well enough. Just don't miss your attacks 1938457 times like I do.
You should ignore this one btw. I only posted it because it's in the way of some other main bosses. I suppose that means this is one of the main bosses too, but normally you can just trivialize it by unequipping your weapons. Even without doing that, it's very easy.

I spent an evening fighting Radahn a bunch of times instead of moving on to the rest of the game. He's a very subtle fight, and small details like the slopes of the arena can affect his hit detection. This is by far the most intriguing boss for me, but I wish his AI was a bit better so he could still live up to the grand image that's established throughout the game. Unfortunately, these fights I recorded didn't quite recapture the awe I was struck with on my first playthrough.
This was still one of the coolest fights I had with Radahn even though I missed a bunch of attacks. I put a few more here if you're bored:
youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBm8s64hbk33Nhm1y5tFyZoJSVNVOaMIN
This phantom version is necessary for Ranni's quest, which leads to some other main bosses later. There are other bosses that you can fight for some NPC interactions, but this one is actually needed for the quest.
This fight turned out okay, but I fumbled my inputs at the end. You can just run to the side under the horse's stomp to get an attack. Rolling and then trying to attack isn't always safe, but the boss only needed the last hit anyway.
I kept trying to find more openings to attack more than once, but every time I experimented with it, she kept pulling out some brand new tricks. It's a weird fight in which a lot of her moves look and function the same, so I just went on intuition for the most part.
And again, for nerds, I fought the boss a few times since he has more moves:
youtu.be/LWNGS0OUunQ
youtu.be/Le2OqeuNLNg
He has a lot of position checks before he completes his combos, so you have to constantly move in front of him and around him depending on the situation. A cool example is at 0:56; he doesn't follow up with the dagger unless you're close in front of him, and it's too quick for me to react to so I preemptively dodge while I move into close range. He has another combo like this that he rarely uses, but it flows the same way.
There's more to phase 2 that you can see in some of the other fights I recorded:
youtu.be/E4ndekU8UnM
youtu.be/tNIvT8MUNjc
Dash through the gap in the pillars with Agro, then shoot the middle, rear, and front sacs. The front sac is difficult to hit until the colossus starts to turn.
Do 2 full stabs, then a 3/4 stab for the first two sigils, then stab out the last sigil completely. You can jump and the wind will let you traverse the colossus more quickly.
The time goes well beyond 3 minutes unlike the other colossi so far.
My strategy is to get 3 stabs on the first sequence, which requires you to jump on the colossus' face to interrupt the lightning projectiles (0:58), then jump from the lower platform as the colossus is rising (1:03). If you get your first stab on/before the first note of the music, that's a good indication that you've done it correctly.
Let go of the colossus immediately after the third stab, which should fling you off so you can swim to the lower ledge quickly (1:18). The colossus will descend in front of you which allows you to jump to its face again.
From here, do the rest of the fight normally by guiding the colossus to the platforms and shooting the bow to provoke the colossus to stand up.
If you can't do this, just run to the third floor (up two sets of stairs) and run counterclockwise through the arena to lure the colossus over the pit again, like so: youtube.com/watch?v=NHVNniFmtgg
The hand jump is easier than I imagined. The only hard part about it is landing in a good spot to get to his head quickly. For his back, you can repeatedly stagger him by stabbing and letting go. When he shakes you off, you can get to his hand quickly without having to climb back up.
Almost got a 2 minute time. This was a relatively clean kill.
This one was a nightmare on PS3. Now they give you more time and the game functions more reasonably. I still use the same strategy to climb his arm since I'm bad at the proper sword jump. I lost a lot of time on the arm at the end, so I probably could have gotten a 2:30 kill.
As a side note: I don't really like the fan nicknames, but it's weird not having recognizable boss names in the title, so I stuck with them.
The leg jump works so easily on this version. I don't know if I'm just lucky but I haven't messed it up once. Wander seems to stay firmly planted when the colossus is moving its leg, so you can jump up whenever you feel like.

These videos are just my best times for the hard mode. I don't have supreme dedication to learn the advanced tricks so I stick to easy/moderate stuff. This version of the game handles more smoothly, so I doubt many people struggled with these.
Based G-S0ul is going to play this game and beat my times.

This is a good contender for worst boss in all of Souls. For that I'm reluctant to make this video public. :P
FromSoftware could not be clearer that this fight is a waste of time.
