This Should Be on EVERY Motorhome!! 360 Birds Eye Camera AZ Expert 2024-05-01 | I finally did it!!! I bought this camera system over a year ago, I have been talking about it for over a year, so I figured I would finally install it while the weather is still nice enough.I have been previledged to drive many RVs across the country over the years and on many of the nicer motorhomes, they come equipped with an all around birdeye view camera system that has won me over with the added safety and security as a driver that normal backup and side view cameras do not offer. Especially as modern cars now have this as a more common feature with less blind spots than a RV/Bus, it was a system I wanted to add to my motorhome to protect it and those around me and those inside, but it took me awhile to find a system that would work and still look good and be inexpensive to recommend.As I said in the video, the system I used was for automotive use and the stitching was lack luster and I could not find it anymore on Amazon. But I did almost install this other system which looks very similar, but decided not to use as the cameras were a little bigger, and the video output is only HDMI, but I suppose in hindsight a HDMI to composite adapter could have been used. Control Your RV Generator Automatically: Magnum ME-AGS-N AZ Expert 2024-04-17 | I had a client that wanted the Magnum ME-AGS-N installed on their RV but unfortunately I purchased the part without getting a deposit and they canceled the installation. Rather than getting upset, I decided to upgrade my 2001 Beaver Patriot Thunder motorhome and thought I'd bring everyone along for the installation.Now this is really like the universal AGS from Magnum we installed in a Safari a few years ago, but rather then having knobs to control it manually, it needs to be installed with a Magnum system remote which is the biggest difference. Since I had the temperature sensor in the kit I decided I should just install that too. No Permit, No Approval Needed for Solar Expansion in the Suburbs!! w/ EP800 UPDATE AZ Expert 2024-04-14 | I have been using the EP800 solar generator/UPS/power off set for a few months and while the system has been operating flawlessly the whole time, I was still unhappy and wanted more. I have been thinking about adding a smaller solar array on the ground level for some time and had an idea for a DIY solar pergola project that I thought could work. Rather then invest in expensive materials and complicated construction, I went with off the shelf aluminum shade pergolas from Amazon and modified them to fit the small area on my southern facing sideyard that I use as a dog run. I added some aluminum tubing to mount the panels to and with some easy and temporary wiring got the 2000 watt array going just in time for the sun to clear the neighbor's house for spring/summer/fall.I will admit this is a more crude system, but even with the used panels I bought from @SanTanSolar connected to the Bluetti EP800, the system is now making 30% of my home use and I never lose power nor do the batteries go dead. The home is also immediately emergency ready for not just power loss but sustained power loss as I could shut off the larger loads and still have lighting, refrigerator, and 120vac outlets for nearly ever. I am very excited by this project and hope to upgrade the panels to be more powerful next winter. I did check with my city, utility, and HOA and as the pergolas are temporary stuctures and the EP800 does not feed power to the grid, this is really just a large computer battery backup and does not meet any requirements for approval or permitting. Also, should I move I could take the system with me. Did Poor Maintenance Damage My Diesel Engine? Oil Analysis Follow Up AZ Expert 2024-04-09 | About 2 years ago, I did an oil change on my 2001 Beaver Patriot Thunder with a CAT C12 diesel engine. I made a video showing the oil change and the oil analysis I did on it.While, I did not drive my RV nearly enough in that time, it is still good practice to service it annually and not wait 2 years like me. I thought now would be a good time to do a follow up video to see if the CAT12 engine is still running good after 24 years and 168k miles with another oil analysis from Empire CAT. How to Install A WHOLE HOUSE Battery/Solar Generator: EP800 AZ Expert 2024-03-07 | I think I have been talking about it enough and this video will show how I decided to install the EP800 in my house. I did need professional help to legally wire the EP800 as a UPS/solar power feed for 12 120vac circuits in the house. These circuits control lighting, outlets, refrigerator, and the garage door so if the house were to ever lose power I would still have power. This installation did not affect the existing "on-grid" solar, but I do set the system up to charge the batteries with the power those panels make.....for now. Because of the design of the Bluetti EP800, I can add more functionality to the system as I go...and I will. Possibly, the only item during the installation I did not explain well, is that I have a double 50amp 240vac circuit also ran from the main breaker box to the disconnect to the subpanel also. FASTER!! EASIER!! BETTER!! HWH Slideout Room Chain Replacement: X-Arm AZ Expert 2024-02-25 | Today we are back at the shop and back working on a HWH slide out room. I was contacted by a viewer that their HWH slide out room is binding on their 2006 Country Coach Affinity. They had already troubleshot it to find that a chain roller is broken and ordered the replacement part already. Now I have done this repair enough times to know not to want to do it, but they assured me that it was the chain at the front of the slide behind the passenger seat with very easy access. With that information, I did agree to do the repair. I have previously made a video about the chain replacement and have since aquired a broken hydraulic pump and developed a easier method, so join me as we replace the HWH X-Arm RV slide out "push/pull" chain yet again. How to Repair HWH RV Slide Room AZ Expert 2024-02-17 | Today I am back at the shop helping a friend and fellow RV creator @nomaddiaries3201 with their 2002 Rexhall Clipper. When they purchased the RV just months ago, the slide stopped working and they did the hard part of making and installing all new hoses. Unfortunately, leaks just start with the weak spots first and after the new hoses were installed, the slide never really worked correctly and bound up. I was asked to help and just figured the system needed to be bled and purged correctly, but soon found the front cylinder was leaking bad. After removing the ram, the seals were found to be brittle and falling aprart. While replacing the cylinder would be the best repair, HWH did not have them in stock and two cylinders would have been very expensive and still taken over a month to get. Luckily, I had found a local supplier a few years ago while repairing a Winnebago slide and was able to access that video for the information. So we did the next best thing and went back to Marting Fluid Seals in Phoenix and got seals to re-build the rams and install. FINALLY!! The RV Upgrade I Have Been Waiting to Do For Years!! AZ Expert 2024-01-28 | While I knew my 4 AGM 6 volt house batteries were losing their capacity, I discovered that they could not even make it one night while camping with my son in Quartzite, AZ while attending the Big Tent RV Show. Needless to say, as I am heading back out again in just a week, I needed new batteries and fast.Last time, I used some old AGM batteries as a stand-in until I decided which real house batteries to get and did a bunch of research for the last few years too. While watching other more battery centric YouTube channels like I have basically come to the opinion that most imported batteries use very similar cells and they have been reliable. So when I did the math on these Vatrer 460ah single battery compared to multiple batteries, the $1400 seemed to be a good deal, and the unique steel box construction seemed to tip the scales for me. Also, I needed a new battery quick so I ordered in on Amazon, just in case I needed to return it.So here is my house battery upgrade on my motorhome and I look forward to prolonged testing. How Does a 2020 Newmar New Aire Have So Much Room Inside? AZ Expert 2024-01-25 | I had one more journey from the shop to Sewell Motor Coach in Harrodsburg, Kentucky and a small window of good weather during the recent arctic blast of January 2024, so I rolled the dice and made it safely in the 2016 Ventana that I pick up in Sacramento, California. Did I Find a Better Foretravel Nimbus 336? AZ Expert 2023-12-20 | Yes, I'm still at Sewell Motorcoach in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. In fact, this was the first inspection I did this trip. The last Nimbus we looked at, and the first Foretravel, was a little different especially on the exterior. Surprisingly, even though this motorcoach was used exclusively for LSU Tiger tailgating, and well taken care of, I did find a few issues. I did have to work quickly with the camera due to the early setting sun so I apologize if the lighting is off. Overall, I love the slide out boxes and hope one day the industry decides to make all slides much better. How Did They Pack So Much Value Into This 2022 Miramar Motorhome? AZ Expert 2023-12-17 | Unsurpisingly, I found myself at Sewell MotorCoach in Harrodsburg, Kentucky helping Doug with some more inspections and deliveries. I thought it might be interesting to see a newer gas Class A motorhome, as Thor really did put a lot of features into a 39 foot motorhome. While I know, many might be put off by the Thor or Ford chassis, I was overall impressed with the RV. It has two full bathrooms and is a double bunkhouse with a oversized dinette bed and sofa bed. Giving a total of 6 beds when you include the King size main bed. 2013 Dutch Star 3735: A Ten Year Review and Inspection AZ Expert 2023-12-09 | I was asked by Doug Sewell with Sewell Motorcoach, if I could possibly travel to Napa, California for a quick inspection of this 2013 Dutchstar, and to bring it back to the shop if it looks good. Obviously I said yes, and made a quick trip to meet the owner. This was a private party seller and could not have been a nicer person to meet, or talk to. Unsurprisingly, he was not completely ready to let go of his sweet home, and took me on a tour of the whole RV and even offer to direct me to a fueling truck stop that he likes to use on the other side of town. While this fabric on the furniture was obviously bad, he was up front with Doug and about the entry door awning too. Once the transaction was completed, we parted ways and I drove through some of the nicest December weather I've experienced in awhile. Every Motorhome Should Have One of These...So I Made One AZ Expert 2023-12-06 | While inspecting all these beautiful RVs, I see a myriad of cool and useful options. Lately, I have been seeing that my basement storage is a mess and also I need a way to keep tools oraganized on-hand when I am RVing. Recently, my friend Stacy, gave me a toolbox because he is incredibly kind and I wanted to put it in my RV, but I didn't want to lose all the storage in the one place I could fit the box. So imagine my joy when one of my dealers, Integrity RV in Mesa, AZ, offer to give me a tray system that has been sitting for years in the scrap bin? I knew immediately how I could use it. What Does a Luxurious Bus Conversion Look Like Before the RV Conversion? AZ Expert 2023-11-29 | While working at Sewell Motorcoach in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, a brnad new 2024 Prevost H3 bus shell drove into the dealership. Its destination was a paint and body shop close to the dealership and was just stopping for a few minutes. I was able to get permission to take a look inside and around it very quickly to share what is a very rare sight for me. The vehicle is really a modified transportation bus, that has been ordered by a "Bus Converter" with slide outs in it, but otherwise it is an empty "shell." The converter will add all the interior finishes, mechanical systems, and home furnishings to make it a $2.5 million bus conversion when it's done. Seeing the bus naked, really shows how much more impressive the buses are when compared to a normal RV, as rather than being a foam box on a ladder frame rail, the bus shel has integrated stainless steel framing to construct the box and to be part of the frame itself.Thanks for watching!
Upgrading the Best RV Made, and You Can too AZ Expert 2023-11-25 | I'm back working on my 2001 Beaver Patriot Thunder again! Now that the slide repair is complete, there's a few upgrades I wanted to modernize it for ease of locking and unlocking the door. The first step is to install a wireles power door lock controller so that I can lock the power door locks without being inside. As the comparment doors are the only power locks, I wanted to make sure the first step will work. I thought it would be easy, and it possibly could have been, but I decided to do it right and bring you along with me. This is the BEST Toyhauler Ive Seen...And I Had to Share it! AZ Expert 2023-11-21 | UPDATE: PRICE REDUCTION $219,000!!!Normally, I find front end diesel Class A motorhomes, or FREDs, to be quite problematic and do not recommend them to most buyers. But this 2021 Canyon Star from Newmar used the platform correctly. On my last day of helping Doug Sewell and the crew at Sewell Motorcoach in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, I asked if I could show this RV before heading to the airport and home. Normally, I am unimpressed with motorized toyhaulers as they are usually way underbuilt in quality but also overpromise with slick and cheap design. What to Look for When Buying Classic Prevost Bus Conversions: 1999 Liberty Classic AZ Expert 2023-11-17 | After finishing a number of inspections on Tiffin Allegro Buses, I was asked to inspect a 1999 Liberty Classic Prevost XL bus conversion for Sewell Motorcoach. To my surprise, I think this might be the first "Classic" Liberty and it's not an "Elegant Lady." But I think I like the Classic better just because it has rocker switches and not the multicolor push buttons of the Elegant Lady.At any rate, this is a crazy beautiful motorcoach and I knew I needed to share what every bus should look like after 25 years of proper love and caretaking. How I Repaired My Beaver RV Slideout...After Breaking It AZ Expert 2023-11-15 | This is part 2 to this series and also the final video. I left the last video off with a slide out that would not open or close all the way as I had bound up the slide arms by raising the adjustable roller too agressively and then bent it and then lost all hope and started doing what I told everyone not to do....adjust the arms. Not only did that not work, it also added another full day of work re-building the slide and compartments because I didn't trust the process and got emotional. So here is the follow up showing my work around for the slide, the all important roller skids and getting the slide back to smooth operations. Yes, it is a little bit of a hack job, but it is a solid repair and retrofit without having to remove the slide or manufacture a piece of angle.Thanks for watching!
Did Tiffin Quality Fall in 2021? AZ Expert 2023-11-14 | I have returned to Sewell Motor Coach at Auto Martt in Harrodsburg, Kentucky!! This time I flew in to help Doug Sewell and his service team rather than driving a RV. The dealership is overwhelmed and ask for some relief by doing some inspections on the new RVs that Doug has just brought in. Today we are inspecting two RVs at the same time: a 2019 Allegro Bus 45MP and a 2021 Allegro Bus 40IP. I thought this would be an interesting comparison to see if the common belief that post 2020 pandemic RV builds were noticeably poorer quality and builds. How to Fix a RV Slide-Out...the not so easy way! AZ Expert 2023-11-07 | So when I bought my 2001 Beaver Patriot Thunder, I knew the main slide seals were falling off and the slide was binding. I decided that I needed to finally fix these big issues before I do any other upgrades or repairs. This slide issue is a fairly common problem on these era Beavers so I thought I would explain the simple method to fix. I had a customer contact me and ask if I could inspect a brand new 2024 Entegra Esteem 29 foot Class C Motorhome as an independent third-party. This was ordered and built for the new owner, and while La Mesa does their own inspection, another set of eyes never hurts. This Bus Conversion is Exceptional and Stunning and Loved AZ Expert 2023-10-23 | I flew to Denver with my daughter to inspect this 2006 Country Coach XL2 Prevost Bus Conversion. I had been told it was one of the cleanest and nicest buses available. Upon arrival, we were transported to Breckenridge, CO to the Tiger's Run RV restort where I immediately began the inspection. The owner took me through all the maintenance and upgrades that had been performed and I was not disappointed. I even found out that my friend @RVingwithAndrewSteele had already made a walk thru video. After that, we began our 2 day trip driving this beautiful motorcoach to Queen Creek, AZ and it's new temporary home as the owner was ready to make a change of direction and wanted to find the next caretaker of this treasure. How to Repair Common RV Roof Failures? AZ Expert 2023-10-17 | Welcome back to this hard working 2005 Beaver Monterey. In the previouis video, we did an inspection on the roof and found a number of issues. After discussing options with the owner, we decided to move ahead with repairs. For the roof lap sealant I used Xtrm lap sealant but a Dicor lap sealant works too. Did Inspecting This 2005 Beaver Monterey Make Me Jealous? AZ Expert 2023-10-07 | A long time customer and viewer asked me to work on his 2005 Beaver Monterey. I could not help but to compare the differences and similarities to my 2001 Beaver Patriot Thunder. It's interesting to see the obvious Beaver touches before Monaco completed changed the brand to Monaco clones, which isn't a bad thing, just the end of an era. Is This is Easy Way to Install a RV Roof A/C? AZ Expert 2023-10-02 | In a number of videos, I have shown my old school method of installing a RV roof A/C without a forklift or scissor lift or help. I heard the comments and concerns and recently purchased what promises to be a safer and easy way of lifting these heavy units onto the roof of RVs. So when I needed to replace two roof A/C's on this 2005 Beaver Monterey, I thought this would be the perfect time to try it out. WARNING!! The "Pick Me Up" hoist does say not to use with a telescoping ladder, but my tall enough laddder would have taken 40 minutes to setup and take down because it's so heavy. Overall I think it is a great product especially with the right ladder. The battery mount needs to be secured better but it did its job and I would recommend it. Like always we will start with the roof, as it is the most important part of the exterior of any RV. While I did find a number of problem areas, I still think its a well built unit. How I Solved Furrion Chill RV Roof A/C Design Failure for Free AZ Expert 2023-09-19 | I am finally finishing this unintentional series on the Furrion Chill RV Roof A/C. Almost exactly one year ago, I replaced a broken Carrier roof A/C with what, I thought at the time, would be a reliable and quiet roof A/C, the Furrion Chill. While the A/C cooling was never the problem, the thermostat control was awful. Furrion installed the temperature sensor inside the air box and no matter how I tried, the A/C would suck in its own cold air and satisfy the temperature setting very quickly. I relocated the sensor outside the box temporarily while I researched the problem and brought everyone along the way. Thanks to many viewers and commenters on the channel, I discovered that Furrion's "upgraded" tstat does not solve the problem either, it only solves the furnace temperature problem. So today I permanently relocate the sensor to the wall by running a new harness and testing the system out. Hopefully this video helps others with the same issue. Can Off-Grid Power Be Any Easier?
