And there's also a huge expo area where partners and sponsors show off the latest and greatest in hardware. Webhallen, Fractal Design, Arctic, TCL, AMD, Asus, Corsair, Gigabyte and a lot of other companies were present at the expo area, and in this video I explore a little bit of everything they have to offer.As usual, I also interview gamers and nerds of all kinds to see what they think about Moderskeppet and pop culture in general. I have to give a fair warning though: I might not have been completely sober while walking around the ship, asking my questions!Moderskeppet 4 also introduced a cosplay competition, so you will see more cosplayers and more amazing costumes than before in this video.But there's more! NärCon is of course a set of extremely popular events, with its summer and winter edition. NärCon Expo brings it to the town of Södertälje instead, in autumn. The convention is full of activities and things to do - so of course I can't really cover everything, unfortunately. Sorry!And speaking of which, this video is pretty late in coming out as well. I blame the fact that I've just built a new computer so that took a bit of time.Anyway, as usual there's a lot of interviews and exploration of the different things you can see at NärCon in this video. I especially loved how there was such a huge focus on the artist alley, and there's even more lectures and meetups and competitions this year. The event is definitely growing - both in number of visitors, and in scale.And most importantly, I met a lot of cosplayers. That's pretty much a given during these conventions. And hey, for once I wasn't actually cosplaying something out of Genshin Impact! But to be honest, that's mostly because I was lazy and did some closet cosplay this time. But that works too!

RetroMania Västerås 2025 - Bigger, Better and Even Geekier This Is Geeky! 2025-09-02 | RetroMania is a toys and games market that's been running for mnay years, but it's still growing each year. The 2025 edition has increased the number of merchant tables by 100 compared to 2024, and there are hundreds of more visitors this year compared to last year. The event has also expanded to cover three floors instead of just two. It's an immense growth in other words.And this growth isn't just reflected in the number of participants to the event. There's also more and more activities each year - Lego to play with, arcade games and old console games to play, and cosplay events. Most primarily, a huge cosplay parade featuring the Swedish Garrison as well as tons of other cosplayers.As usual I also interviewed people to see what they think about RetroMania, and along the way I found everything from enthusiastic fans, to sellers showing of their secret stash...to crashing the Cartmens live stream, and having a strange interview with a Jawa...

And Ponyfest is definitely not a big and bombastic event. Instead, it's filled with people who share a passion for cute and cuddly things, for stories and for childhood memories - and for sharing their experiences with other like-minded people.I attended Ponyfest on the Sunday when most of the activities happened. This meant that I missed the afternoon tea and the initial shopping spree on Saturday - but instead I got to experience fierce competitions, karaoke, auctions, a pony quiz and so much more.And there was still plenty of shopping to be done, even if some of the most coveted items were long since gone. For example, the big Derpy charm! EVERYTHING in Akihabara - Is Japans Geek Paradise Still Worth Visiting? This Is Geeky! 2025-08-17 | People say that Akihabara is no longer what it once was. It's too expensive, too touristy, and it's strayed from its otaku past. And I also compare it against another recent visit I made to Nakano Broadway - where you still can find some good bargains.The title to this video is of course a complete lie. There's no way that I could see everything that Akihabara has to offer, but I did my best to explore all kinds of different stores. Everything from electronics stores to card game stores, and lots of other geeky places in between.What I found is that it's definitely not as cheap as it used to be. But there's still a lot to see - and a lot to experience for a first-time visitor to Tokyo and Japan. There are better places for shopping, but you still don't want to miss everything that Akihabara has to offer!
EVERYTHING at Medeltidsveckan 2025 - Biggest Medieval Festival in the Nordics This Is Geeky! 2025-08-12 | Medeltidsveckan, the Medieval Week, is the biggest Medieval festival in Sweden and the Nordics. It takes places every year on Gotland, in the UNESCO World Heritage town of Visby. But most of all I'm trying to show you all the different kinds of events you can expect during the week.The Medieval Week has been running for more than 40 years, and it's a much beloved event in Sweden. But it's not without its controversies too. That's why I'm also talking about something called the Unofficial Medieval Week, Inofficiella Medeltidsveckan - a parallel set of events that's occurring at the same time as the main festival.Aside from that, this video is filled with interviews with new and old festival attendees, clips from events and concerts, notes on various competitions and happenings....and quite a bit of drunken debauchery. Oh, and also clips from jesters and fire shows, and unofficial events like Likörslaget, Östgötaspelen, and a lot more.A special mention needs to be made of Slaget om Visby, the Battle of Visby - a reenactment where hundreds of people recreate the battle outside the Visby Medieval walls in 1361, when the Danish attacked. NärCon is the biggest anime and cosplay festival in the Nordics, with more than 17 000 visitors. I happened to stumble upon the Administration & Bereaucracy Museum in Mannaminne, in the High Coast Area - and it was full of retro geekiness.Everything from old bakelite telephones, to old computers and storage media, to a Commodore 64 System Programming Guide. Nakano Broadway - The New Geek Paradise in Tokyo This Is Geeky! 2025-06-29 | Everyone knows about Akihabara in Tokyo, but for many years there's been another place where you can find amazing pop culture items and make amazing deals. I decided to explore Nakano Broadway, and see what I could find.For more upcoming geeky adventures, make sure you subscribe: youtube.com/@thisisgeeky?sub_confirmation=1Nakano Broadway is a shopping mall filled with five floors of geeky stores, primarily a lot of Mandarake stores but also tons of small niche stores. This place has just about everything that you could ever want - anime figures, collectable card games, retro toys, manga, anime, DVDs, and a lot more.But the thing that makes Nakano Broadway unique in my view is that it's not just filled with the normal figures and pop culture merchandise. This place is by collectors and for collectors. Each store is specialized, with, for example, a store dedicated to Gundam figures, one store dedicated to dolls, one store dedicated to vintage manga, one store dedicated to books, and so on.I spent way too many hours browsing these stores, and I also spent a fair bit of money on anime figures, t-shirts, manga and other loot. And in this video I try to show you a little bit of everything there is to see in this magnificent geek shopping mall.Nakano Broadway isn't a secret by far, but it's still less crowded by tourists than Akihabara. And you can definitely find better deals here than in the more popular places. So while it's not a hidden gem, it's still well worth a visit!

Oh, and crane game and gashapon spots as well - of course!Along the way I explore holograms, I try to understand what PalVerse is, and I marvel at glorious geek art.I also pay a visit to the famous PC and retro gaming bar Space Station, and do my best to not suck completely at Mario Kart. I fail of course!And to round off the evening I visit the mall Shinsaibashi Parco, with two floors filled with pop culture stores of all kinds. LEGO stores, Capcom stores, Ghibli stores, a Shonen Jump store, a Bandai store - this place has everything you could desire!They even managed to make Teletubbies look cute. Completely incredible feat.And there was also a giant godzilla statue, Monster Hunter merch, a pixel art Mega Man (or Rockman), Ultraman...and a giant hamburger. For some reason.Anyway, there was definitely a lot to see in the touristy areas of Osaka - and I hope you enjoy this little look at everything!

I missed Comic Con Summer 2024, so I didn't really know what to expect - and I was a bit surprised at how many people there were! The convention center in Kista is a bit smaller than the one in Älvsjö, so that might have helped in making the area feel quite crowded. But I'm not complaining that there's a lot of geeks who want to visit a convention!In this video I walk around and look at geek merchandise, performances, talks from various people, but primarily I talk to people and have a look at all the amazing cosplay! And of course, I also ask a lot of people silly questions about geek fandoms and the event itself.I did film the cosplay parade, but I have to admit that I didn't see the cosplay walk-on, or the competition. So for once I won't be putting up any videos from those events, unfortunately. There's no way to see it all in just one day (or evening, in my case). But I made sure to check out everything from games and electronics, to cosplay, to geek stores in general.And of course, tons and tons of anime figures. I just might have focused quite a bit on those, as usual.I would say that DenDen Town is a bit smaller than Akihabara, but the prices are much better in general. Sure, there are some touristy expensive stores too - but overall you can find some proper bargains here if you're looking to do some geek shopping.And of course, even if you're not planning on doing any shopping it's still incredibly fun to simply walk around and explore everything there is to see!
Lets Visit SUPER NINTENDO WORLD in Osaka This Is Geeky! 2025-05-25 | It's time for one of the geekiest theme parks in the world! I decided to visit Super Nintendo World in Osaka, and see if it's actually worth the exorbitant cost of going there.For more upcoming geeky adventures, make sure you subscribe: youtube.com/@thisisgeeky?sub_confirmation=1Super Nintendo World opened in 2020, so it's old news by now. But this was my first visit to the park, so I was quite excited to see what you could find here. And first of all, I have to say that the theming is AMAZING - it's definitely the best I've seen in any park in the entire world.But as for the things to do in Super Nintendo World? Well, that's where things might not be as stellar. And there's a LOT of people visiting the park - even more than I imagined. Overall, I guess you'll have to check out the video to see what my final thoughts are!Super Nintendo World is a part of Universal Studios Japan, and you can't just go to the Nintendo park by itself. That means that I also visited USJ to see what else I could find there. There's a bit of Waterworld, a bit of Hollywood, and Jurassic World. But the most significant other area of the park is the Harry Potter area with Hogsmeade and Hogwarts! And I have to say that it was quite impressive as well. This is definitely a theme park - it's all about becoming immersed in the different worlds, rather than look for thrill rides.But yeah, I hope you enjoy this little look at one of the geekiest things to do in Osaka!

Moderskeppet Gaming is a new geek cruise in between Moderskeppet 3 and Moderskeppet 4. Moderskeppet Gaming is more focused on purely...well...gaming. Obviously. But there's still plenty of what you can find at the regular Moderskeppet too.More than a 1000 geeks and nerds embarked on the boat Birka Gotland in May to enjoy some quality geek time on international waters. Or at least on Finnish waters. On board the ship you could find dancefloors and restaurants, bars and board gaming rooms, a huge expo where companies like Webhallen and many more could show off their newest products, and of course a lot more.There's quizes and events, concerts and tournaments - and there's simply too much happening on board to manage to see it all. But I made an attempt at least as I examined what Moderskeppet Gaming had to offer - and I interviewed a lot of people about their thoughts as well. And I might have to give a fair warning: neither me nor the interviewees might have been completey sober at any point.Music is an important part of any Moderskeppet and on this cruise you could see Songs From Our Savefiles, Algar, Gustaf Grefberg and Wiklund. And of course, Syntax Error who were DJing to ensure that quality chiptunes were delivered on floors 5 and 10, as well as in the nightclub.If this looks interesting, make sure you check out Moderskeppet 4 in October 2025 - it's going to be even bigger, louder...and geekier!

The GEEK Side of SHINJUKU - Retro Gaming, Maid Cafes and Anime This Is Geeky! 2025-05-11 | Shinjuku in Tokyo is mostly known for Kabukicho and Golden Gai, the infamous party districts. But there's also a lot of geek stores and geek activities to be found in Shinjuku. Some of these include GiGO, but also places like the Shinjuku Namco Tower.I also paid a visit to a pachinko parlor, to check out another type of gaming that can be found here, and the completely amazing 8 Bit Cafe in the east side of Shinjuku. And speaking of geek cafes and bars, there's an absolutely amazing place called Animeholic in Golden Gai - and of course I had to see what you could find there.Maid Cafes are mostly associated with Akihabara, but there's one in Shinjuku too. So, purely for science, I had to see what that's all about as well. I wanted to check out the restaurant Alice in Fantasy Book too, but I only got a few shots inside the restaurant unfortunately.But there's more! The GEEKY Side of IKEBUKURO - Anime, Gashapon and Arcades in Tokyo This Is Geeky! 2025-05-09 | Tokyo is full of geek stores and geek areas. North of Shinjuku you find Ikebukuro, with the iconic mall Sunshin City.
