He maintained extremely strong and warm relations with the family, as well as the whole of the extended team Avatar. Aang eventually admitted to Iroh that he was the uncle that he’d always wanted as a kid, and this led to Iroh visiting Aang and his son Tenzin many, many times, keeping close contact.And it’s during these times where Iroh was able to be a supportive Uncle not only to Aang with adult wisdom, but also to young Tenzin, teaching him to navigate the world, especially as he would become the last Airbender after the passing of Aang. Sadly the exact phrasing given has been lost to time from a Canon perspective, but we know that Iroh consistently gave tid-bits of wisdom and support for Tenzin to grow into the man he later became, as a leadership figure in Republic City.

This Is GREAT NEWS for Netflixs Avatar Live Action! AvatarStar 2024-02-20 | So recently something pretty interesting has happened, and it might suggest that there’s something ahead for the live-action Avatar adaptation created by Netflix. Back in 2020, Michael Dante DiMartino, the co-creator of the Avatar franchise and lead contributor to all of the shows, made a statement on his website and social media informing people of the status of the Netflix adaptation as well as his role in it. He basically announced that there were issues he wasn’t satisfied with and that he had left the project. He noted that the creation vision doesn’t align with what the creators wanted for their franchise, and he said that while the adaptation might be good, he didn’t want anything to do with it.Well, lately, the statement seems to be removed from his personal website, which is a major way that he communicates with fans. His blog has been inactive for years, and was also that way before he posted his announcement. His instagram is more active, but still barely posted to, only a few times a year. The post is still on his instagram, which makes some people doubt that the statement has been retracted. However, it should be noted that on his website’s about page, he still links to the now removed blog post, so it’s unlikely that he’s really considered or yet gotten around to removing it everywhere.

*NEWEST Netflix Live Action Avatar Teaser Reveals HUGE Zuko Storyline AvatarStar 2024-02-08 | So tonight, Netflix dropped another little teaser as the build-up to the release of their live-action Last Airbender adaption is reaching its peak. They put out a short, twenty-second clip which showcases Zuko’s season one mindset. He says the following;“We've been at war for 100 years. The war started by my great grandfather, and continued by my father, Fire Lord Ozai. And it's my duty to ensure the Fire Nation succeeds. Uncle eyeroh says some believe it's in our nature to expand and consume, like fire itself. All I believe is the Fire Nation must emerge victorious. And that is why I have to deliver the avatar to my father. It's my destiny.”As this occurs we see shots we’ve already been exposed to in past trailers, other than the one you’ve already seen on the screen, which is him sitting at his desk writing, presumably some form of diary motivating him to find the Avatar as fast as possible.Given what we saw in the full trailer, the shot of him actively trying to hunt down Aang using information he’s gathered on past avatars, maybe we’ll see a much deeper focus on Zuko’s thoughts and feelings, with his arc being one of the most beloved parts of the original show.
*NEW* Netflix Live Action Avatar Teaser Reveals HUGE Story Changes AvatarStar 2024-02-06 | So tonight Netflix surprised us with a very short teaser for the upcoming live action Last Airbender adaption. Most of it are scenes we’ve already been shown, but there are a couple interesting snippets to go through so smash the like and subscribe buttons and let’s get into it.The trailer opens up with Aang waking up from some kind of unconscious state, hyperventilating before getting his barings and exiting a tent to see the southern water tribe laying before him. This is obviously from the beginning of the original show when he initially meets Katara and Sokka. The thing is, the clip we see after this looks quite a bit different from the original. Aang tells Katara and Sokka his name in a pretty jokey and silly way, diffusing the intense standoff between Aang and Sokka, who fears him being a threat affiliated with the Fire Nation.Although we don’t see much, the backdrop is completely different, and it looks like the scene plays out differently since the composition is changed as well. It looks like Sokka is still primed and ready for attack, looking concerned and confused with nobody seemingly between him and Aang, which is where Katara was originally.This usually wouldn’t be a huge issue since it’s just a trailer and we can’t see the full scene, but considering the recent news about Sokka’s sexist nature in the early stages of the show being removed, which is a very fundamental part of his character growth, this is already starting to worry me since it hints at a very different discovery than we got in the original show.

Netflixs Avatar Live Action Trailer Exceeds All Expectations! AvatarStar 2024-01-24 | So today, finally, after months of waiting, we FINALLY received the full trailer of Netflix’s Avatar The Last Airbender adaptation. I can’t tell you how much I’ve been waiting for this, and i’m sure you guys have been too… I can’t believe this day is finally here! There are a lot of awesome new scenes and reveals, so smash the like and subscribe buttons and let’s get into it.So first off, there’s actually something really cool which isn’t even in the english trailer. For the German dub, they brought back almost the entire German dubbing cast of the original Last Airbender show, which is very wholesome and no doubt a lot of German fans will get some major nostalgia.At the very beginning we get a scene of an absolutely beautifully detailed fire nation ship approaching one of the water tribes. Most likely this is the Northern water tribe which we also see attacked in Book One of the original show. We’ll definitely also see Katara face off against Zuko, which is very exciting, and we do get a quick glimpse of it in the trailer.Something we see in the trailer is that despite the serious nature, with war clearly being waged, there are still some little quips and jokes, meaning that hopefully Netflix are keeping intact the overall vibes and tone of the original show. Although it had its mature moments, it was a kid’s show after all, so to see it’ll keep its lighthearted-at-times nature is a very welcome piece of news.We get a look at Zuko plotting, trying to locate Aang, which is a really cool addition because in the original show he was pretty clueless, spent so long searching without much of a clue what he was doing, but here he looks really determined and like he’s planning things out. We then get to see some amazing looking fire nation armour. I mean seriously, it looks so imposing and threatening, it’s no wonder the fire nation had such domination over so much of the world.The bending looks absolutely awesome throughout the scenes, definitely complimenting the amazing set work they’ve done - these actually look like real-life versions of the places from the cartoon, and so much attention to detail has been paid.
Netflixs Avatar *NEW* Reveal is INSANE AvatarStar 2024-01-19 | So we’ve known for a while now that the Avatar Netflix adaption would be releasing in February 2024, but some fans were afraid of delays and production issues. Today though, this fear has been safely debunked because we have some new posters which highlight that we are definitely getting this, hopefully, amazing show. And its coming on the 22nd of february this year. In these posters we also have some great looks at the characters, with each one meant to be representing the four villages.In one we can see Zuko firebending in front of a fire nation building, covered in fire, which although it’s just a piece of promotional art, could be a hint at a scene of destruction and decimation. In contrast to this, we can see Sokka in front of an earth nation hut, looking menacing with his boomerang, and we additionally see aang covered in sand with what some speculate to be air temples behind him, although some fans have also speculated that this is a background shot from one of the episodes.The one slightly worrying thing is that we still don’t have an official footage trailer for the show yet. Something which would show us a glimpse of actual footage from the episodes. We’ve seen little teasers, hints and clips here and there, but nothing major. So i’m hoping before the end of january we get something to keep us going until February.With only a little over a month away for the series to drop, the hype is getting absolutely off the charts and I know I’ll personally be there to binge watch all the episodes. BRAND NEW Netflixs Live Action Avatar GYATSO Leaks + Set Footage AvatarStar 2024-01-10 | So recently we’ve had some massive and fascinating image leaks dropping for Netflix’s The Last Airbender, and today I’m about to break them down so smash the like and subscribe button and let’s get into itSo a bunch of on-set and behind the scenes pictures were leaked of a bunch of kids dressed up as air nomads, likely recreating the scene from early on in the show where we see them not wanting to associate with Aang because of him being the Avatar and them feeling like he has an unfair advantage in anything they do.This was a really impactful and emotional scene which really hit Aang and viewers in the feels, so seeing it in live action is going to be very interesting. In another image, we get a very rough look at live action Monk Gyatso which is very exciting, and although we can’t tell exactly what scene it is, there’s a lot of speculation from this one image alone. While it could be related to a flashback to Aang’s childhood and Gyatso teaching him, it looks to me more like he’s somewhere on fire and is concerned, possibly seeing someone or something that he wished he’d never come across.There were some rumors a while back that there would be a scene which featured the air nomads being questioned about the location of the Avatar and eliminated when they refused to comply. Maybe this scene is Gyatso getting ready for a last stand against all the firebenders, leading us to see his skeleton the way it was when Aang found it many years later.Here’s what the actress who posted the images said;Avatar: The Last Airbender, an American drama produced by Netflix, has finally been officially announced and we are honored to have three students from our Vancouver Repertory Theater to participate in the production! Let me first make public some on-stage photos we participated in at that time (mischievous). This time I played the role of a monk. This half-bald look took me five hours to do, but it was easy for the boys, they were finished with just a “chua!” By the way, this is my first time filming abroad, and I’m really lucky to be able to participate in Netflix’s masterpiece The Avatar!
Aang Was Zaheers Airbending Master!? AvatarStar 2024-01-05 | Zaheer is one of the most fascinating characters we’ve seen so far in the Avatar universe. Born as a non-bender, he held the view that the four nations, avatar, and order of the white lotus needed to all be abolished, and, to this end, he joined the Red Lotus. During his time with them, he met a powerful waterbender, firebender, and earthbender. Together they plotted to kidnap the new avatar, a then 5-year-old Korra, and force her to re-open the spirit portals and free Vatuu, then teaching her under their collective supervision to make her a powerful tool to reach their goals.Although he was unsuccessful in his attempts and was imprisoned for many years, Zaheer eventually broke out of his imprisonment thanks to the Harmonic Convergence, which gave him the ability to airbend. Now, here’s the thing; in the clips you’re seeing, he is performing incredibly smooth moves and is using the airbending flawlessly. But remember, he was a non-bender… something strange has occurred, because there’s no way he should be so expert-like in these moves, to the point that he very easily takes down dozens of trained guards all alone.According to the director’s commentary of the episode, Zaheer found out about his powers two weeks or so before he broke out, and used his isolation to meditate and practice. But he didn’t have a lot of room to practice in, making some of his moves baffling since the two weeks of training shouldn’t account for them. As well as this, he passes through the spinning gates with complete ease. This, as well as this intimate understanding of the air nomad culture, has led some fans on an interesting line of thought.. What if Zaheer was actually trained by Aang or at least received training from somebody Aang taught?In a way, it would make sense, since it explains why not only Zaheer had this deep knowledge and adapted so naturally, but it also makes the scene where Zaheer learns to fly make a bit more sense. Being so experienced and having the wisdom of the past monks, Aang could easily give Zaheer, an already intelligent guy, the information he’d need to know to perfect airbending powers if he were to get them. Ultimately, though, this fan theory ends here, since there isn’t any real evidence to suggest that Additionally, the creatives behind Zaheer have stated that he was created to be a complete master of not only martial arts, but of the philosophy behind them as well, allowing him to easily become master-like with new tools or moves in a short time just because of how wise he was. We can also see, if we play them side-by-side, that Zaheer has a more aggressive and unnatural and unorthodox movement when going through the spinning doors, whereas Tenzin’s leaf demonstration shows a calm, gentle type of movement.
Zuko’s SECRET Sword Master Just Got Revealed AvatarStar 2024-01-01 | `Something fascinating we saw in The Last Airbender was not only Sokka studying under a fire nation sword master named Piandao, but we also see that Zuko, under his mysterious blue spirit identity, is also capable of some excellent swordfighting skills. Fans have long speculated on how exactly Zuko learned these skills, leaving us with the question, who was Zuko’s sword master?Well, in the Lost Adventures comic series, we actually get to see Zuko and Sokka have a “swordbending” agni kai. Despite his intense training and the fact he’s meant to be a powerful non-bender, Sokka gets absolutely whooped by Zuko several times, who doesn’t go easy on him at all. Prior to this humiliating defeat, Zuko warns Sokka that he trained with master Piandao as a kid and that he wouldn’t lose.It’s actually quite wholesome to see how cocky and proud Zuko is, since as he grew up in the fire nation, he was always second to his sister and was always seen as inferior and a failure. From his time with the gaang, he’s able to find things to be proud of and experience regular human emotions like pride and joy. Just a little thing to think about, and it’s a really awesome comic.Master Piandao was the son of two firebenders, both being talented and respected people in their powers and abilities. Feeling deep shame that their sole descendent wasn’t a bender, they abandoned him at the path to an orphanage and that’s where he’d grow up, very anxious and shy due to his abandonment.
*BRAND NEW* Look at Netflixs Avatar Live Action AvatarStar 2023-12-30 | So as I’m sure you all know, Netflix have been working on an Avatar series which is releasing in only a few months, February 2024. Fans have had some really mixed feelings from the few images and scenes we’ve had so far, with many fearing that the series will be a flop just like the Shyamalan movie all those years ago. If you’re a youngster and don’t know that movie, please, don’t get interested and go look it up, you’ll regret it and start being scared of the Netflix adaption.Well, to celebrate the Winter solstice last week, Netflix released a few more images of some scenes within the series, and it’s definitely looking very interesting. First up, we have a new picture of Aang, our first time seeing him in a full-body show revealing his boots, and in the background we get an interesting glimpse which might show us one of the first changes in the series. It appears Aang is meditating on a rock beside a statue of Hei Bei - the spirit which spent thousands of years protecting the earth kingdom forest, usually taking the form of a panda bear.In the original series, Aang actually meditates on the head of this statue - and although some fans have commented that it may be the real, physical Hei Bai, I think it looks more statue-like with its colour and the way Aang is meditating within a rocky terrain around him. If Netflix has changed this scene slightly, it’ll be interesting to see how the rest of the series is with changes. On that note, it’s been revealed that Suki’s mother will be in the series, which has a lot of mixed feelings about it. This meeting came shortly after Ursa had received a tragic letter informing her that Lu-Ten, the son of Iroh had died in the siege of Ba Sing Sei. After finding out about this news, Ozai visited his father and asked him if he could take Iroh’s place in the royal line of succession, since now Iroh had no descendants. Firelord Azulon was absolutely inflamed with this request, asking how he could dare ask for such a thing so soon after Lu Ten’s death. As a response to this, Azulon punished Ozai by ordering him to kill Zuko, so that he would know the pain of losing his first-born son, just as Iroh had. An extremely cruel reaction to an extremely cruel request. Soon after this, Ursa was informed of the conversation because Azula had been secretely listening in on it. She then put Azula to bed and frantically rushed to Ozai to ask him if he would actually go through with the plan. After hearing Ozai’s cold “yes”, Ursa was sent into a horrible panic. She frantically began planning how to save her son’s life. She eventually came up with a plan that would exchange the Fire Nation throne for Zuko’s life. To do this, she would mix an untraceable, colourless and odorless poision, which she learned from her herbalist mother to kill Azulon. She would then create a fake will passing the birthright of Iroh onto Ozai, making him the new firelord. In exchange for this plan, Ozai ordered that Ursa leave the palace in exile, never to be seen again. He feared that if she stayed, she would use the poison on him in the future. Furthermore, Ursa requested to take the children with her, but Ozai refused, making sure they stayed as collateral. Should Ursa ever return or cause any trouble, they would be killed immediately. Ursa then kissed her two children goodbye and immediately ran off into the night. The first place she went to after leaving the palace was her parents old house. Once she got there, she knocked on the door and a young girl answered. Ursa asked if Junzuk and Rina were there, but the young girl delivered the horrible news that they had passed away many years prior. In tears, and with nowhere to go, Ursa rushed to the middle of her town and visited a stage where she used to peform in her years before becoming the Fire Princess. There she silently cried to herself in silence.Some time after, a man named Noren approached her, believing she was looking for a part in the next play at the stage. Once he noticed her crying however, he offered Ursa breakfast and she was happy to accept. During their conversation over breakfast, Noren suddenly called Ursa by her name, which startled her since she had been careful not to reveal it to anyone since leaving. This made Ursa nervous, and caused her to lose her appetite, so she got up and was about to leave. However, right at this moment, Noren admitted that he was in fact a man named Ikem, which before Ozai chose her as princess, was actually engaged to marry her. Noren had seen a spirit named the Mother of Faces and changed his entire appearance and identity so that Ozai could not hunt him down and kill him. After hearing this, Ursa asked Ikem why he had never gotten married since their engagement was cut short, and he simply responded by saying “you know why”. After some time reconnecting, the pair agreed that Ursa should change her own face and name too, so that Ozai could never find her and punish her for what had happened at the palace. At this point, the two then travelled through a place known as The Forgetful Valley for months without success in finding the Mother of Faces. Finally though, their luck changed and the spirit appeared. Ursa then made her request to change her appearance, but the Mother of Faces asked her why such a beautiful human such as her would want to throw her appearance away. To test if Ursa was truly willing to commit to such a change, the spirit offered her a much more plain face, and she accepted without hestiation. The Mother of faces could sense Ursa’s deep pain, and offered also to wipe her mind of any memory having to do with her time as the fire princess. Ursa was initially extremely reluctant as this would wipe the memories of her own children, but after some time she decided that she needed to end the pain and suffering of that life.

As we know from the comics and books, the Air Nomads were very closely connected with their animal companions, and they became just as much an important part of the Air Nation as it’s people were. Taking the arrow tattoos was a sign of respect to the original airbending masters… However, this wasn’t always the case, and there’s an incredibly interesting reason why. In the Beginnings Episodes of the legend of Korra, we see the very early Air Nomads and they don’t have the same tatoos. Instead they have simpler design, likely mean to emulate the shape of a human… Now here’s where things get interesting. At this early time in the history of the Airbenders, other humans would have been the only other benders that anybody knew. The sky bison were likely not yet discovered, and thus not known about… Therefore, once the Airbenders discovered the Sky Bison and realized they had already mastered airbending before them, they changed their tattoos to match the bison and show them respect for their mastery.

The powers and abilities that airbending grant are simply far too powerful for any society to hold, without ripping themselves apart into endless civil wars and conflict… That is, unless they became nomadic pacifists, spreading the concentration of airbenders across the world and swearing themselves against offensive violence. And the forbidden airbending power that we’re about to discuss likely directly led to this cultural shift… What is this power?#avatarthelastairbender #thelegendofkorra #airbending So to start off with explaining this deadly airbending power, we must first establish the fundamentals. What we know as sound is actually just a series of vibrations through the air that can be understood by the human ear. Therefore, airbenders are able to sound bend, and we’ve seen examples of shrieking and other terrifyingly loud screams used by airbenders to debilitate their enemies in the novels. Knowing this, airbenders can exploit the properties of sound waves to to two extremely interesting techniques.The first is being able to attack someone through walls. All the airbender would need to do is use a very low pitched sound wave to blast through a wall and hit the enemy on the other side. Of course, being able to control the properties of the sound wave to precisely would be a skill reserved only for high level masters of the art, not just anyone…The other one is possibly even more scary, although it may be fatal the airbending choosing to use it too. Instead of generating a low pitched sound wave, if the airbender was in an enclosed space, like a cave or a small room, they could produce a high pitched shriek. This would then reasonate and bounce between the walls of the encolsed space, quickly compoudning into an intolerable explosion of sound. For this reason, you would absolutely never want to enter an enclosed space with an airbender you don’t trust.

In that episode we see how Aang was pulled into the water on Appa and forced to save his friends. Now the show’s creators have explained that Aang’s technique here is similar to that of “a fish extracting oxygen out of water molecules”. Aang uses this airbending technique to consdense a huge amount of breathable air around him and the rest of team Avatar, while also using waterbending to push away the water and provide space. Although its pretty clear that the airbending isn’t essential to do this technique, and the same can be done using waterbending. As we see Katara do this in the Serpents pass when the group are forced to go through a flooded section of the trail. And adding onto this, there is actually a theorized, hyper-specialized sub bending technique of waterbending known as respiration. This would allow an extremely skilled, probably master level water bender, to be so efficient in their bending that they can directly filter the air out of the water when they breathe, giving them power to breathe under water with no assistance. This would add yet another incredibly powerful ability to the waterbending skill tree, continuing to make it one of the most powerful elements, adding another fierce skill to go alongside bloodbending.

King Bumi is able to slip under ground and pop out in a completely different location. A very handy, albeit dangerous technique. Now this defensive technique used to escape, can easily be reversed into an offensive one. You could completely. The earth bender could easily disintegrate the ground underneath his target, turning it almost to liquid beneath him. At this point, the victim would sink into the ground, where the bender could finally close the rock above his head, trapping him forever. At this point, not even the strongest of humans could not free themselves from being fully surrounded by the stone and rock. there would be no leverage to push against or to even move their muscles. And it’s this point that is the most interesting. You would think that this technique is not efffective against earth benders, because they could simply bend themselves out of the stone… But when the rock is so tightly pressed against the individual, they will not be able to move any limbs to initiate the bending. Only those extremely advanced benders like Bumi, who can bend without the use of their limbs would have any chance of success…And thats not accounting for suffocation, or even worse, a complete crushing where the Earthbender simply pushes the stone tighter and tighter together.

One night, in the cold dark, Yangchen was jolted up and possessed by her past life, a Water Avatar named Gun. Gun had a close friend called Mesose, who was a renowned poet and engineer. Mesose would often write poems and other stories which Avatar Gun heavily enjoyed reading, and building his worldly knowledge from. Using this knowledge, plus his experiences in the real world, Avatar Gun began to notice a growing hatred of humanity in the back of his mind during his travels. This grew further and further as time went on, especially as more heartbreaking crises and natural disasters swept the world. Gun felt that people were always trying to demand more and more support, despite being horribly ungrateful for the help they’d already received. Making matters worse, he kept seeing towns and villages make the same mistakes over and over again, needing more and more support from the Avatar. This swept the young avatar into a deep rage, and led him to want to wipe humanity from the map. Still being posessed, Yangchen she is shown Avatar Gun and his close friend Mesose in the small harbor city of Ha’an, a bustling trade hub and fishing centre. There, a large tsunami engulfs the city and threatens to wipe out everyone who lived there. Avatar Gun tries his hardest to stop the terrifying wave from impacing, but he could only weaken its impact on the town. He could not stop the torrent. Tragically, his friend Mesose is killed by the waves, leading avatar Gun to disappear from the world for a long time. This is where Yangchen snaps out of the posession.Years later however, Yangchen is possessed yet again by Gun while she was resting on a small island in the Northern Sea of the world. This time however, Gun’s disdain for humanity was truly put on display, as he took over Yangchen’s body and used it to ask Yangchen’s friend Tivik why he should care at all for humanity. Why should he care for the ungrateful and short-sighted humans when all they will do is continue to fight. Kavin attempts to calm Avatar Yangchen’s possessed self down, but Gun inside of her will not listen. He tells them that hope for a better humanity is the sole reason he should care. Gun however starts to maniacally laugh in Kavik’s face until Yangchen finally broke out of the posession and came back to reality.
The TERRIFYING Airbending Ability that Was Forgotten by History AvatarStar 2023-07-26 | The Airbenders were a noble and peaceful people who would not resort to violence unless absolutely necessary. And even when they did, the airbenders would choose much less direct methods of taking out their enemies… And in this case, they developed an airbending technique that is so terrifying that it would scare any opponent from wanting to get up close… Although it originally wasn’t intended as a combat abilitiy, but merely one for survival. #avatarthelastairbender #thelegendofkorra #airbendingabilityAlright so the ability we are talking about here is that of ‘heat regulation’. Now by itself this might not sound that scary, but when I explain it’s darker uses later on, it will seem pretty bad…Now what the ability does is allow an airbender to contract and expand the air in or around himself to either heat or cool it down. This was originally developed as a survival tecnique for airbenders out in the spirit wilds, and allowed them to survive harsh and cold nights, as well as blazingly hot deserts. They did this by heating or cooling the air within themselves and also around themselves if they were more advanced with the technique. This was extremely effective for stayling alive and even for steal where that was necessary. We saw Aang himself use this ability in the Southern Water Tribe to stay alive without any warm clothingNow this is where things get dark. As the ability can be used to lower your own body temperature, scarily, this also extended to lowering the body temperature of any other human or living being. This means that with a simple touch of the body, an airbender can chill someone’s body temperature to a point where life becomes impossible. In effect, freezing them to death on the spot. First the legs of the victim would be frozen through lowering the air temperature around them so much, that the water inside the tissues freeze, making them unable to move. This then locks the victim in place while the airbender slowly drains the life out of him by draining his body temperature. A truly horrifying way to go.
