The first time I saw Kansas they were opening for Queen (If my memory is correct) The thing that impressed me was their Improvisations in their songs.

The second part is the chorus created with chordal movement over a funky bass E drone. I use alot of pull offs to the capo to create the texture simmilar to fingerstyle or fingerpicking guitar.

The 3 pans near me are the main ones with the upper 2 adding extra high and low notes. There are still favored keys such as F,C,G,D,A and their minors. I always loved the flowing harmonies between the guitars and keyboard in the band.. The tricky part here was emulating strumming on a mainly tapping instrument.
