First time on Whistlers Peak to Creek (January 2024) - Whistler Peak to Village Marcus 2024-01-31 | Top to Bottom of Whistler mountain, and taking Upper Peak to Creek intermediate route for my first time...My second time ever to Whistler Blackcomb, and my second time ever going to the Whistler's peak. Last year, I got to enjoy a very sunny, scenic, beautiful run down Matthew's Traverse and Burnt Stew Trail green runs (youtube.com/watch?v=pWdy8DNSAlQ).This year I wanted to go the other direction and finally tackle the infamous Peak to Creek, touted as one of (if not) the longest ski runs in North America, stretching 11km/6.8 miles long!Sadly, the lower half was closed due to poor snow conditions this day, so I trekked Highway 86 all the way back to Whistler Village in this run, which still provided for a lengthy ride overall!I wasn't completely sure what to expect other than it being a blue run the whole way down. What I wasn't expecting was how relatively steep the upper parts of it was, and how many moguls mixed with firmly packed and soft snow had dotted the run, which provided a fairly tricky challenge added in with the day being overcast, making it harder to see the surface.I consider myself an intermediate midwestern U.S. snowboarder who can handle some moguls and spots of steep terrain in a pinch, so these longer stretches were certainly a fun challenge to try and get comfortable with! Breckenridge (Jan. 20, 2022): Angels Rest and Monte Cristo trails Marcus 2023-01-13 | First snowboard run of this day!Rode up "Independence Superchair", then went down "Angel's Rest" (blue) to "Monte Cristo" (blue) to arrive at "Zendo Chair." (Side note, the top of Zendo Chair sucks for snowboarders, lol.)We did migrate over to Kensho Superchair to go up Peak 6 and ride down the bowl "Bliss" (blue), but this was at a time my GoPro batteries for the Hero 9 were the blue ones and had absolute crap quality in cold climates, so my camera died constantly on this high-altitude trip and I got no clips of us going down that very scenic run. :( I still managed to get clips of some other runs, but it bummed me out when I couldn't record much on the few days we were here and I had to frequently take the camera off to swap batteries.Guess I missed out on the new Enduro batteries then...? Ice Breaker full POV - SeaWorld Orlando Marcus 2022-12-22 | What a fun little coaster!Really enjoyed the layout of Ice Breaker. Compact and short, but packs a good punch with its strong airtime and tight layout! I had a 15 minute wait on my first lap on it, but managed to get walk-ons for 6 more laps after that, so I had plenty opportunity to try front and back and middle rows. The front has some particularly fun ejector going out of some of the hills, but the last car has great airtime on the backward launch spike!I do have some personal gripes with the difficulty of getting in and out of these very tight Premier Rides SkyRocket style trains (which also extends to Tigris at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay), and the very last row had an uncomfortable squish on my shins during the ride due to the little room between shins and the lap restraint shin guards.Other than that, I very much enjoyed riding this coaster multiple times, and operators were very helpful in assisting everyone getting in and out of the train.Still a must-try if you come to the park!-----Ice Breaker roller coaster at SeaWorld Orlando in Orlando, Florida.Don't forget to leave a like if you enjoyed what you saw!!-----GoPro Hero 9 with a wrist strap.-----Subscribe if you haven't yet!youtube.com/user/midgetman82?sub_confirmation=1I got a new TikTok! Holiwood Nights & Keys to the Kingdom 2021 - One long coaster weekend! Road to Disney World: Epcot and Hollywood Studios, Dec. 2020 - Silent Vlog Marcus 2021-02-23 | Here is a collage of random clips made during my brief December 2020 week in Orlando to visit Walt Disney World and SeaWorld Orlando!These clips were made on both my cell phone and on my mirrorless camera. I originally planned to be 50/50 with using my equipment, but since we were on our feet and moving around so much, I found my phone to be the most convenient to rely on for making quick video.This was our second time taking an RV to Walt Disney World and staying on-property at the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds resort, which is easily my favorite way to have a multi-night stay at Disney World! We didn't get any time on this visit to explore the massive resort since we had numerous reservations and plans around the resort from morning to night on each day, so unfortunately I didn't get to make any clips around the parked RV or of Fort Wilderness during the day.On this trip, we visited EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, as well as an extra day spend at SeaWorld Orlando. EPCOT went very smoothly, with very manageable crowd levels. Hollywood Studios felt more busy, and our confirmed Boarding Group reservation for the new Rise of the Resistance attraction was cut off due to issues the ride had that morning, but we still managed to have a very good day trying what we could on our day there. SeaWorld seemed to go the smoothest with getting to do every ride and show we wanted to do with very minimal waits.Anyways, hope you guys like what you see here. Orion Offride - Ultrawide 4K at Kings Island July 2020 Marcus 2020-08-14 | New for 2020 roller coaster at Kings Island, Orion! A 287 foot tall B&M roller coaster with a 300 foot drop.I've mentioned before in my initial thoughts on the roller coaster (youtu.be/5B6_FwVU_Gg), but I really enjoyed Orion! A very solid B&M giga!I appreciate the fact that it's a highly re-rideable coaster with impressive stats for the park. It also looks incredible in the park's skyline, dominating everything else all around. Fun speed, fun hills, an incredibly smooth layout, and a sweeeet first drop! Social distancing at an amusement park? Kentucky Kingdom 2020 opening day Marcus 2020-07-02 | *July 10 park update below, read before you visit.*Challenged myself to make a vlog out of a visit, so let's see if this works or not!Kentucky Kingdom was permitted to reopen the week of Monday, June 29, 2020 after the pandemic forced most Kentucky businesses to close in the Spring. I made a visit to get a few rides in, and have a look around at what the new policies and rules in place were.A few things to point out:-Masks are encouraged to wear while at the park.-Guests need to watch for social distancing markers on the ground and stand on them with their own group while waiting for rides and shops.-There's hand sanitizer pumps EVERYWHERE! Use them! (But also wash your hands in the bathrooms.)-Overall park capacity is lower than normal. Keep that in mind if you're traveling on a Saturday or a holiday.-Employees will be sanitizing high touch surfaces every so often, including stopping attractions to clean.Leave a like if you enjoyed this new format I'm trying out. Unboxing new Drop-In Filter adapter for my EOS R Marcus 2020-06-23 | A simple unboxing of a new adapter and filter I'm eager to try outside in the bright summer sun!The adapter allows me to drop in specially made filters that can slot into a hole in the side. The adapter I bought came with a variable neutral density filter I can control with a wheel.The wheel is very easy to turn with a finger, and the filter itself works splendidly up until the very extreme end when the filter gives a strong blue coloring.I had been eyeing this adapter for a while, but admittedly the $400 price tag had kept me away for so long until now when I felt I could afford it more comfortably. Operated from 1987, Vortex ceased operations permanently after the last day of the park's regular 2019 operating season on October 27, 2019.I'll certainly miss this behemoth and its terrifying placement high above the valley at the very back of the park. SheiKra Reverse POV - GoPro on 200ft Roller Coaster Marcus 2019-07-15 | Once was my first dive coaster, still is my favorite dive coaster!-----This was my first time back to Busch Gardens Tampa since right before Falcon's Fury soft opened, so I had MANY firsts coming back to what is, hands-down, my #1 favorite amusement/theme park!Falcon's Fury (x2): Easily the weirdest drop tower I've ever been on. The face-down freefall sure gave me a funny feeling in my stomach, but I certainly enjoy that the ride is smooth as butter. I'm also glad it's as tall as it was, because that pull-out certainly wouldn't work with any shorter towers. Very cool ride!Cobra's Curse: Cute and exciting family ride, lots of very good positive g's on those helixes, and the spinning added a lot to the experience too.Tigris (x2): My first time on one of these Premiere SkyRockets. This was a surprise hit with the group I was with. We didn't expect too much getting on, but by the time the coaster was going backwards, everyone sounded like they were already having a blast, which only got more amplified by the time we got launched to the top. We all LOVED it! Great pops of air, positive g's and twists. The only thing we all overwhelmingly agreed on was the ride experience was admittedly pretty short-lived. Very, very exciting coaster otherwise!Also, for it being the day before the 4th of July, lines were shockingly manageable. I had Quick Queue going in, which helped me skip the 55 minutes of Cheetah Hunt, but the longest I think I waited for was 35 minutes for Tigris (second ride since QQ only allows 1 line-skip on it). SeaWorld Orlando Manta 4K POV Marcus 2019-07-08 | One of my all-time favorite B&M Flyer's in existence. Great theming, great layout and overall ride experience, and beautiful colors and setting.I wont't have any more vids of the other rides at SeaWorld Orlando so here's my thoughts on the others:-Kraken still kicks butt after 19 years of operation!-Mako was loads of fun with awesomely strong floater airtime and very fast pacing.And as a side note, I absolutely love SeaWorld Entertainment's GoPro policy between SeaWorld Orlando and Busch Gardens Tampa, which allows GoPros that are mounted either with a chest harness or a wrist strap. Camden Park and Big Dipper - 4K Ambient Cinematic Marcus 2019-05-14 | Just a rainy day out at the park.In a town that borders Kentucky and Ohio, Huntington is home to the oldest operating roller coaster in West Virginia, the Big Dipper, which was built by the National Device Amusement Company in 1958 and operates one of the two last remaining NAD Century Flyer trains in existence.Camden Park earned an American Coaster Enthusiasts marker on May 12, 2019 during the 2019 Preservation Conference (the reason for my visit) for their continued operation of the Big Dipper roller coaster. aceonline.orgThis was easily the oldest roller coaster I think I've ever stepped foot on, and despite its look and age, the 50ft tall wooden roller coaster runs quite smooth. Some parts of the coaster feature pretty significant airtime on it as well. Coupled with the buzzbar lap restraints, this means there are moments when you rise pretty significantly out of your seat (especially in the back or front rows).
