DwyerOmegaWhat is a thermocouple and how does it work? A thermocouple is a sensor used to measure temperature. Thermocouples are made with two wires of different metals, joined together at one end to form a junction. Here's your answer in under 1 minute!
The junction is placed on the surface or in the environment that's being measured. As the temperature changes, the two dissimilar metals begin to deform, causing a change in resistance. Naturally, a thermocouple outputs a millivolt signal, therefore, as the resistance changes, the change in voltage can be measured. Thermocouples are desirable because they're extremely low cost, simple to use, and are capable of providing accurate readings.

The Series A3000 Photohelic® Switch/Gages function as versatile, highly repeatable pressure switches combined with a precise pressure gage employing the time-proven Magnehelic® gage design. The Photohelic® switch/gage measures and controls positive, negative or differential pressures of air and compatible gases. Standard models are rated to 25 psig (1.7 bar) with options to 35 (2.4) or 80 (5.5 bar) psig. Two phototransistor actuated, DPDT relays are included for low/high limit control. Easy to adjust set point indicators are controlled by knobs located on the gage face. Individual set point deadband is one pointer width - less than 1% of full scale. Set points can be interlocked to provide variable deadband - ideal for control of fans, dampers, etc. Gage reading is continuous and unaffected by switch operation, even during loss of electrical power. Choose from full scale pressure ranges from a low 0-.25 in (0-6 mm) w.c. up to 30 psi (21 bar). It is also important to avoid direct sunlight, which can accelerate discoloration of the clear plastic cover.
Sensing lines may be run at any necessary distance per application requirements. Long tubing lengths will not affect the accuracy of the gage, but will increase response time slightly. Do not restrict lines. If pulsating pressures or vibration causes excessive pointer oscillation, consult the factory for ways to provide additional damping.
All standard Magnehelic® Differential Pressure Gages are calibrated with the diaphragm in the vertical position, and should be used in that position for maximum accuracy. If gages are to be used in orientations other than the vertical position, please specify this information when ordering. Many higher range gages will perform within tolerance in other positions after re-zeroing. Low range models of 0.5” w.c. plus 0.25” w.c. and metric equivalents must be used in the vertical position only.
All Magnehelic® gages come with standard mounting hardware for the unit to function, including: tubing adapters, screws, and port plugs. Mounting brackets and enclosures are not included and must be ordered separately.
The Series 2000-HA High Accuracy Magnehelic® Gage is twice as accurate as the standard Magnehelic® gage. Answer: To start off, we’ll need to remove the top cover to access the zero and span buttons. Loosen the right screw of the nameplate and slide the nameplate away to reveal the buttons. To begin we need to access the menu. Press and hold the ZERO and SPAN buttons simultaneously until MENU appears. Once the buttons are released 1 TRIM will be displayed, which is the first of three submenus. To cycle through the submenus, simply press the ZERO button. Please note that you may need to press the button for up to 2 seconds or until the display changes. The following menus will be 2 SETUP and 3 LCD. For this demonstration, we will only be using the SETUP menu.
Once you are on SETUP, press the SPAN button to enter the SETUP menu. 21 UNIT will be displayed and this is where you can change the engineering units if needed. We are going to leave this at the default, which is inches of water column. Move to the next parameter by pressing the ZERO button, where 22 U-RNG will display. This stands for upper range and will represent the 20 mA signal. From here, press the SPAN button and SEL INC will display. This stands for Select Increment, which will allow us to change the values based on a multiplier instead of one unit at a time if you choose. To cycle through, press the ZERO button and then press the SPAN button to select the desired increment. After the increment is selected you will see the upper range, in this case 30, and value. We can increase the value with the ZERO button and decrease the value with the SPAN button. Once the desired upper range or span value is displayed, press the ZERO and SPAN buttons simultaneously to back out to the select increment menu. By pressing the ZERO and SPAN buttons a second time, you will save the upper range, done will be displayed, and you will be redirected to the main screen.
To set the lower range we will use the same steps. Press and hold the ZERO and SPAN buttons until MENU is displayed. Once the buttons are released 1 TRIM will be displayed. Press the ZERO button to go to SETUP. Press the SPAN button to enter the SETUP menu but this time we are going to press the ZERO button until we get to 23 L-RNG which stands for lower range and will represent the 4 mA signal. We will then press the SPAN to access the SELECT INCREMENTS menu. Once the increment is selected we will set the lower range we would like. Please note you cannot exceed the calibrated span which is this case is 30” w.c. Once the desired lower value is selected press the ZERO and SPAN to back out to the SELECT INCREMENTS menu, then press them both a second time to save. Once done is displayed and the unit returns to the main menu your pressure transmitter will be re-ranged and ready to use.

The Series WE07 incorporates a V-port ball valve for impressive flow rates with minimal pressure drop. Quarter turn control ball valves are compact, lighter weight and much less expensive than comparable sized globe valves and segmented control valves. They also offer bubble tight shut off with zero leakage and can withstand high pressure drops. The 60° and 90° balls offer an equal percentage flow characteristic. W. E. Anderson’s V-port ball valves have been designed to offer maximum flow characteristics that are substantially higher than comparably sized globe valves. The natural flow pattern of ball valves increases flow rates and in many applications valves smaller than pipeline size can be used. How to Set Up the Series Mark II Molded Plastic ManometerDwyerOmega2024-08-28 | The Molded Plastic Manometer, Series Mark II, is quick and simple to use. The Series WE20 is offered in lug or wafer body styles and is equipped with a PTFE or EPDM liner. The most critical aspect of the Series WE20 Butterfly Valves is the cartridge seat design, which alleviates installation problems associated with common "dove tail design" seats. Valve torques are lower and more consistent as the seat dynamics are not dependent on being coupled between two flanges. Precision machining of the disc and body allow the cartridge design to maintain a tighter disc to seat tolerance, providing a perfect low torque seal each and every time the valve is cycled. The seat to disc seal is independent of flange support and capable of full rated dead end service. Actuators are directly mounted creating a compact assembly for tight spaces. Limit switches are able to be mounted directly to the valves allowing for remote position indication. The Series WE20 can be configured with either an electric or pneumatic actuator. Electric actuators are available in weatherproof or explosion-proof, a variety of supply voltages and two-position or modulating control. Two-position actuators use the supply voltage to drive the valve open or closed, while the modulating actuator accepts a 4-20 mA input for valve positioning. Actuators feature thermal overload protection and permanently lubricated gear train. The pneumatic double acting actuator uses an air supply to drive the valve open and closed. The actuator has two supply ports, with one driving the valve open and the other driving the valve closed. Spring return pneumatic actuators use the air supply to open the valve, and internally loaded springs return the valve to the closed position.Low Range Differential Pressure Transmitter | Series 616KD-LRDwyerOmega2024-08-26 | To learn more or order the Low Range Differential Pressure Transmitter please visit http://www.dwyer-inst.com/Product/Pressure/DifferentialPressure/Transmitters/Series616KD-LR
