corrections: 01:35 counter rotation of multiple spun threads is in fact needed for some fabrics and is very common. 06:58 as it turns out, it's more common than I thought to cut open circular knits and sew them back together, because they are so much faster to make. So the seam might not be a good indication whether or not it's made on a circular machine. 13:20 plain weaves have significant stretch on the diagonals. adding yarn in these directions makes for the actual stiffest fabric. 14:14 they did have more complex weaving structures before the industrial revolution, of course. My bad. I wanted to make a good transition to the modern machines. 17:50 water jet looms are quite rare as it turns out. Air jet looms seem much more common. 19:05 Besides the amount under-over, one of the deciding differences between twill vs satin weaves is also how many yarns you move over to the side on the next row. A twill weave will give these diagonal lines because on the next weft yarn you do the "1 over" on the very next warp yarn. But a satin weave will skip one, or multiple yarns. So the diagonal pattern will seem to disappear.

Additions/clarifications: at 6:20 I talk about shocks and how they separate gas and oil. The most common way to do this is actually with a double wall, but I couldn't be bother to make a whole new, more complicated model for these two seconds of a tangent. from 6:30 onwards I'm showing all these curves. When the piston rod is the same size as the cylinder, the whole thing acts like the piston is closed. Or like the valve is closed, in the case of the office chair. Another important thing to note is that the gas spring I'm showing for these graphs have an open piston, like the gas spring on a car trunk. at 7:52 the second curve also STARTS lower, even though the pressure inside the office chair cylinder didn't change of course. The reason it starts lower is because the area that the gas is working against at 8:24 I didn't explicitly state it, but these chambers do the same effect in opposite directions, which is why the effect is smaller. But I do believe they don't cancel out completely.
Corrections: at 7:50 the first curve should start at 0, instead of 4. Because when the valve is closed, the chair will find an equilibrium - in which there's no net force on the piston. I was confused by the fact that when the valve is open, the pressure only "works" on the area of the piston rod, and not the whole piston.

Corrections: 03:54 a big reason NOT to have suspension in the back is in order to pull implements at a constant height. A plow for example will pull itself down, and with suspension that could lead to a feedback loop where the plow pulls itself deeper into the ground, making it harder to pull, which lowers the back of the tractor (if it had springs that is) which would allow the plow to pull itself even deeper etc. This might even be the leading reason for not having springs, but somehow I missed this in my research.
