Will shooting with different band thicknesses make me more accurate? Theoretically, they are both "full" tang, but the major difference is that a tapered tang tapers (duh!) toward the back end of the knife adding a better balance and feel to the knife in hand. It's amazing how quickly your hand learns where the blade's edge is and how the knife handle locks in when carving something like a spoon. Not all knives are well suited for carving, but because both the woodlore and puukko have Scandinavian grinds and thin blades with full comfortable handles, I was very confident they would both be up to the task. Refurbishing and Re-profiling a Used Knife | Blade Talk Tuesday Ep 46 - 4K SurvivoTek 2021-08-17 | In this longer-than-average episode of SurvivoTek's "Blade Talk Tuesday" (ep. 46), we're refurbishing and then re-profiling and then sharpening a used woodlore style knife, called the Classic Wolflore, made by Gray Wolf Knives or GWK.For info on the knife, check out their website here:graywolfknives.com/bushcraftIf you wind up purchasing one, let them know SurvivoTek sent you!I purchased a well-used knife off the BushcraftUSA forum, where I do a lot of my buying and selling. It had formed a heavy patina and the white/ivory micarta/g10 handle was in need of cleaning as well. These project pieces are super fun and really don't take much time or effort. And the greatest part is you often get a great knife for a great price.My personal method is to simply sand off the outer layer of corrosion on the blade using progressively finer grits of sandpaper and polish the handles with just water and sometimes a little soap.To finish things off, I sharpen up the blade and strop it to a polished razor. Then I can treat the carbon steel with oil or (in this case) fixin' wax. Carving the Mojave Scissor Snare | LTWK Nature Reliance Shemanese SurvivoTek 2021-04-09 | The Mojave Scissor Snare is a great trap to learn, not necessarily because it is more efficient or any better than any other snare, but because it is very involved and will challenge your skills as a bushcrafter and knowledge and a survivalist. It involves many moving parts and pieces, but when it works, it works really really well and is a lot of fun to setup.
