The pilots, both veteran flyers with a long history of playful rivalry, struck up a chat over the radio. *"Hey, Jumbo!"* the B777 captain teased. *"Wanna see some real speed? This sleek twinjet is about to leave you in the vapor trail!"* The B747 captain chuckled. *"Oh please, kid. This old queen of the skies still knows how to dance."* Moments later, the B777 powered up, pushing forward with its engines roaring. The captain grinned smugly as the ground speed climbed. But then the B747 calmly responded by spooling up its four engines — all that sheer power — and effortlessly surged ahead. *"You see,"* the B747 captain radioed back, *"I don't just have speed... I have seniority. The air traffic controllers love me — they gave me the shortcut!"* The B777 captain could only laugh as the mighty 747 disappeared into the clouds, leaving behind a faint contrail and a bruised ego.
