Wii Sports Resort: Island Flyover All 80 I Points, single cycle Fezezen 2023-05-05 | I found out about the left-over debug menu in Wii Sports Resort for the Island Flyover mode, decided to do a "speed run", since it can turn off the in-game timer. I didn't really follow a route, just made it up as I went from memory. So I didn't get a good time what so ever. Instead this could be used as a guide I suppose. This was recorded in Dolphin and used Gecko codes so this wouldn't even be eligible to be submitted to speedrun.com. (Which requires real hardware, and no cheats used, duh).
Roblox Voxel based Navmesh generation Fezezen 2023-03-24 | Simple idea I came up with pretty late at night for an algorithm that fills a map with a "navmesh" (really just lays parts on the ground in a manner similar to a navmesh). The map's bounds are measured and then it splits the area into a 3d grid. Starting from the top-down, for each cell in the grid it checks if it's intersecting with any part in the map, and if so, it will set the value of that cell to 1. If the cell directly above the current one is not 1 (air), it's value is then set to 2. For each 2 in the grid it creates a rectangle and merges it with suitable neighboring rectangles, then finally splits out all the parts as result of that.

I'm glad Wingman8 (or whoever owns his account now) fixed the bug that made this game unplayable last winter.The issue with the game is its rather short-sighted design. The objective of the game is to sink the enemy ship and get treasure for bonus points. But since you can win just by sinking the enemy ship, and collecting treasure is risky or boring, people often don't do it. So the game just becomes this repetitive cycle of: Start, sail toward enemy, destroy their ship. Both Galleons and Armored Patrol are inherently repetitive, yet Armored Patrol is much more engaging.Boarding almost never happens, both because most people don't upgrade swimming time, and because there's no real point other than to disrupt the enemy for like 5 seconds.Upgrading your cannons is essential, if you don't, your enemy just has a huge advantage over you. So being stuck on a team with people who don't ever upgrade them is an automatic loss.No one wants to be captain because shooting is pretty much the only fun part, yet the role is essential. Someone MUST steer the ship lest the ship run aground or one broad side gets shredded, leaving kegs wide open.I've tried to address these game design issues in my own game, 7 Seas of Sorrow, while also trying to expand upon the game.

VixenGL Demo Showcase Fezezen 2022-06-05 | VixenGL is a continuation of another project I worked on where I made a software renderer based on Ken Silverman's Build Engine and Bisqwit's Doom Style 3d renderer video. That project quickly went down the drain because of how poorly optimized it was and how bad I was at memory management which lead to a ton of bugs. VixenGL aims to continue the goals of that project with Modern OpenGL and practices I've learned from college.
