Footage (taken by the guy I'm uploading it for) of the Halloween Spooktacular event which took place at the Alton Towers theme park throughout the 90s. Unlike the modern 'Scarefest' equivalent, Halloween Spooktacular was more geared towards lots and lots of shows and entertainment, as well as a greater presence of Halloween theming, lighting, etc... I strongly suggest using the 'Contents' section that I've provided to quickly look through all aspects of this footage as it gives a better idea of just how much of the event the video covers. For any Alton Towers fans, or anyone interested in this kind of thing, I can't recommend sitting and watching this entire video enough. It's an extremely rare glimpse into one of, if not the best events that the park has ever put on. It's definitely worth the watch!

This is part of that collection.
This video was taken by Alton Towers in 1994 and was intended to be used for broadcasting companies. Some clips may be recognisable as some sections of the Image Bank have been used at the park in videos shown in the Box Office, Monorail queue videos and more.
This is an official mounted POV of Nemesis, a Bolliger and Mabillard Inverted roller coaster designed by John Wardley. Nemesis is believed by many to be John Wardley's greatest achievement in the theme park industry, as well as the best ride to have ever been built at the park. Nemesis constantly ranks high among enthusiasts and polls carried out at the park, and the ride has offered a consistently thrilling ride since the day it opened.
Nemesis opened in 1994 along with Toyland Tours (a well-themed indoor boat ride for children) as part of a colossal investment made by Tussauds to continue to make Alton Towers their number one theme park, and the best theme park in the UK. Nemesis alone cost £10 million, and was one of the first custom B&M Inverted coasters ever made (after the Batman clones made in the US).
The ride is 2349 feet long and lasts 1 minute and 20 seconds. The maximum G-Force is 4 and riders reach a maximum speed of 50 mph. Nemesis can thrill as many as 1400 riders per hour by flinging riders through a wing-over (B&M's corkscrew name), tight helix, barrel roll over the station, stall turn, a vertical loop constructed in a giant pit (created by using dynamite to blast a crater to sit parts of the ride in which also helps to keep the ride within the height limit imposed upon the park), an overbank turn, another wing-over and one final helix.

A clip from Part 1 of the 1998 Alton Towers Image Bank footage featuring Energizer, a now defunct Mondial Supernova that used to operate at the Alton Towers theme park in Staffordshire. The ride opened in 1995 in the Festival Park area was moved to X-Sector and rethemed for 1998. In 2001 the ride was relocated from X-Sector to Ug Land where it operated under the name 'Bone Shaker' until 2003 which is the year it was closed (stood there SBNO until 2004 though). Like many flat rides, Energizer started out as one of the most thrilling rides in the park, but over time it became much tamer and the cost of trying to fix what eventually became an unsafe ride wasn't deemed reasonable.

This is an official mounted POV taken by Alton Towers the year Oblivion opened. Oblivion was the world's first vertical drop roller coaster (a Dive Machine) and was constructed by thrill ride manufacturer, Bolliger & Mabillard.
Oblivion (codenamed Secret Weapon 4 or SW4 for short) cost £12 million to build and was designed by John Wardley. Though only 65 feet of the ride is visible from above the ground, Oblivion's total height is actually 196 feet. It has a top speed of between 68 and 69 mph, making it the fastest ride in the park. The maximum vertical angle of the drop is 88.8 degrees (this was enough for it to be classed as a vertical drop and was as far as B&M could take the ride at the time) and the total length of the ride is 1223 feet. Ride times typically last 1 minute and 15 seconds when there's no stacking, and Oblivion can get through as many as 1920 riders per hour which makes it one of the most efficient rides at Alton Towers.

Chessington World of Adventures is one of my favourite parks and I feel that a wooden roller coaster would really make for a great addition, so I decided to design one to go behind Wild Asia on the empty plot of land which sits above the car park.
I understand that the park has strict regulations imposed on it by the local council, so height, tree removal and noise levels need to be considered when the park wants to create a new attraction. To help, using my own experiences, help from people who know the park and its history well, various images and Google and Bing maps, I selected an area that would require no trees which shield the plot from exterior view to be cut down, made sure that no existing attractions would be affected and that the ride would be low enough not to be visible from out of the park.
However, it did only take three days for me to make this ride, so please forgive any bumps, incorrect heartlining and potentially bad supporting. :P
Data:
Name: Wooden Roller Coaster Concept Designer: Alexander Machin Park: Chessington World of Adventures Ride Location: Empty plot behind Wild Asia Ride Type: GCI style wooden family thrill ride
Trains: 3 (9 cars per train, two seats per car, 18 seats) Predicted Capacity: 1116 riders per hour Dispatch Time: Every 58 seconds Height whilst on lift: 22 meters / 72.2ft Track Height: 20 meters / 66.6ft Largest Drop Height: 19 meters / 62.3ft Length: 2705ft Inversions: 0 Top Speed: 42mph
Comments: The ride could become the headline attraction in a new themed land or it could join the other attractions in Wild Asia as an expansion. It would require some tree removal from the area surrounding the coaster and some along the long stretch of trees to the left of Dragon Falls. May also require one or two paths to be redirected, landscaping for trenches and the tunnel at the end of the ride. None of the existing attractions would need moving, removing or altering.
Extra Information: This ride is currently unavailable for download.

Thanks!Whipper Snapper - No Limits Roller CoasterAlexanderMachin2012-06-08 | Another small project I've been working on in-between other larger RCT3 and No Limits projects; 'Whipper Snapper' is my first attempt at an Intamin ZacSpin roller coaster. It's compact and offers a fun, chaotic experience which would never be the same as any previous rides due to the ZacSpin coasters seats being free to rotate with the movement of the ride. It's by no means the biggest or badest ride out there, just a small, simple ride which was more of an experiment to see how well a ZacSpin would work in No Limits.
The music is 'Walk in the Park' from the Ty Tasmanian Tiger game soundtrack.

The theme ties in with Storybook Land and will pay tribute to Peter Rabbit which was one of the best ice shows that the park ever hosted (in my opinion at least).
The ride is a little tamer than the Beastie (i.e. won't have 100+ laterals). It's smooth and painted to match its surroundings. The coaster also features lots of custom scenery that took ages to make.
