(I said PC version twice for a reason).You are an egyptologist, bound to the island of Matinicus, where a wealthy heiress was seeking to gain eternal youth by using ancient egyptian artifact. Unfortunately, it all goes to shit because of her shenanigans with a gangster and other ill-intentioned individuals. Now you're trapped there with legions of immortal gangsters, ghosts and other spooky beings.Killing Time was originally released for the 3DO console back in 1995, with this Windows version later in 1996, which has nothing to do with the 3DO version. It's a completely different game, apparently running on a fork of the Jaguar Doom engine. On the good side, the game starts as creepy-good, the entire game world is open and can be traversed as a huge environment with load times in between, some objectives could be done in wichever order you wanted, and the in-game FMV "visions" that tell the story were also a novelty... Too bad the initial creepyness goes away as soon as some cheesy enemies and the cringy cinematics show up, and sometimes there are so many enemies in the way that it turns into a chore (maybe choosing a lower skill level would help).Nightdive's remaster offers the best of two worlds. The 3DO despite having more detailed characters, cinematics and more animation frames, the game itself is a Wolf3D clone (more and less). Lo bueno, que el juego empieza siendo tétrico, el mundo es abierto y se puede ir de un lado a otro como si fuese un único y enorme entorno (con tiempos de carga en medio), algunos objetivos se pueden realizar en el orden que queramos, y los vídeos in-game en forma de "visiones" mostrando la historia eran novedosos... Lo malo es que el ambiente de terror se va en cuanto aparecen enemigos algo ridículos y esas mismas visiones tienen algo de humor de vergüencita ajena, y a veces hay tantos enemigos en el camino que se convierte en un tedio (puede ser que jugando en un nivel más fácil esto se solucione).El remaster de Nightdive ofrece lo mejor de los dos mundos. La versión de 3DO a pesar de tener personajes y cinemáticas más detalladas y más frames de animación, el juego en sí no debaja de ser un clon de Wolf3D (más o menos). Hard difficulty, using DOSBox.Last Rites is a FPS developed and published by Ocean Software back in 1997. It was only released in Europe. Zombies have taken over the world and as a commander of Special Forces it's your mission to rescue humanity.What we got here? We got a shooter for DOS computers, released a bit late, in 1997, and using a dated engine with very limited 3D capabilities for the time being. It has some cool stuff, like high quantities of enemies, some squadmates to help you with the killing, and the weapons don't feel bad (and you get a multi lock-on rocket launcher). But the game is extremely crippled by its level design. Levels can be either too long or too short, and they are *extremely* cryptic. You'll push a button and you'll keep roaming looking for the door you just unlocked, and it keep going this way... all the way through. On top of that, we got the same city level used three times with different objectives, and a couple of escort missions where the robot you are escorting dies way too fast. The game might look ok enough on your first minutes, but once you realize how the levels are... oh boy. Experienced skill level, showing all secrets.HoN's sequel adds a new playable character, new metamorphoses, enemies, weapons and more of the awesome OST which is already a staple in the series. HoN2 also ditches the Hexen-like metroidvania elements of the first game... that is a bummer for me, I really liked how it was done in the HoN1, it wasn't cryptic, and it was fun. Hard difficulty, using DOSBox.Last Rites is a FPS developed and published by Ocean Software back in 1997. It was only released in Europe. Zombies have taken over the world and as a commander of Special Forces it's your mission to rescue humanity.What we got here? We got a shooter for DOS computers, released a bit late, in 1997, and using a dated engine with very limited 3D capabilities for the time being. It has some cool stuff, like high quantities of enemies, some squadmates to help you with the killing, and the weapons don't feel bad (and you get a multi lock-on rocket launcher). But the game is extremely crippled by its level design. Levels can be either too long or too short, and they are *extremely* cryptic. You'll push a button and you'll keep roaming looking for the door you just unlocked, and it keep going this way... all the way through. On top of that, we got the same city level used three times with different objectives, and a couple of escort missions where the robot you are escorting dies way too fast. The game might look ok enough on your first minutes, but once you realize how the levels are... oh boy. Tenemos un shooter para DOS, lanzado un poco tarde, en 1997, y usando un motor con capacidades 3D muy limitadas para esa época. Tiene algunas cosas que están bien, cantidades altas de enemigos, compañeros de escuadra que te ayudan con la matanza, y las armas no se sienten mal (y te dan un lanzacohetes que puede fijar varios objetivos). Pero el juego está demasiado mancillado por su diseño de niveles. Los niveles pueden ser muy largos o demasiado cortos, y son *extremadamente* crípticos. pulsarás un botón y te pasarás un rato buscando la puerta que ha abierto, y vas a hacer esto durante todo el juego. Hard difficulty, using DOSBox.Last Rites is a FPS developed and published by Ocean Software back in 1997. It was only released in Europe. Zombies have taken over the world and as a commander of Special Forces it's your mission to rescue humanity.What we got here? We got a shooter for DOS computers, released a bit late, in 1997, and using a dated engine with very limited 3D capabilities for the time being. It has some cool stuff, like high quantities of enemies, some squadmates to help you with the killing, and the weapons don't feel bad (and you get a multi lock-on rocket launcher). But the game is extremely crippled by its level design. Levels can be either too long or too short, and they are *extremely* cryptic. You'll push a button and you'll keep roaming looking for the door you just unlocked, and it keep going this way... all the way through. On top of that, we got the same city level used three times with different objectives, and a couple of escort missions where the robot you are escorting dies way too fast. The game might look ok enough on your first minutes, but once you realize how the levels are... oh boy. Tenemos un shooter para DOS, lanzado un poco tarde, en 1997, y usando un motor con capacidades 3D muy limitadas para esa época. Tiene algunas cosas que están bien, cantidades altas de enemigos, compañeros de escuadra que te ayudan con la matanza, y las armas no se sienten mal (y te dan un lanzacohetes que puede fijar varios objetivos). Pero el juego está demasiado mancillado por su diseño de niveles. Los niveles pueden ser muy largos o demasiado cortos, y son *extremadamente* crípticos. pulsarás un botón y te pasarás un rato buscando la puerta que ha abierto, y vas a hacer esto durante todo el juego. Además, tenemos el mismo nivel de la ciudad usado 3 veces pero con objetivos distintos, y un par de misiones de escolta en las que el robot que tenemos que proteger muere demasiado rápido. Tenemos un shooter para DOS, lanzado un poco tarde, en 1997, y usando un motor con capacidades 3D muy limitadas para esa época. Tiene algunas cosas que están bien, cantidades altas de enemigos, compañeros de escuadra que te ayudan con la matanza, y las armas no se sienten mal (y te dan un lanzacohetes que puede fijar varios objetivos). Pero el juego está demasiado mancillado por su diseño de niveles. Los niveles pueden ser muy largos o demasiado cortos, y son *extremadamente* crípticos. pulsarás un botón y te pasarás un rato buscando la puerta que ha abierto, y vas a hacer esto durante todo el juego. Además, tenemos el mismo nivel de la ciudad usado 3 veces pero con objetivos distintos, y un par de misiones de escolta en las que el robot que tenemos que proteger muere demasiado rápido. El juego puede parecer correcto durante los primeros minutos, pero una vez uno se da cuenta de cómo son los niveles.. ufff. Hard difficulty, using DOSBox.Last Rites is a FPS developed and published by Ocean Software back in 1997. It was only released in Europe. Zombies have taken over the world and as a commander of Special Forces it's your mission to rescue humanity.What we got here? We got a shooter for DOS computers, released a bit late, in 1997, and using a dated engine with very limited 3D capabilities for the time being. It has some cool stuff, like high quantities of enemies, some squadmates to help you with the killing, and the weapons don't feel bad (and you get a multi lock-on rocket launcher). But the game is extremely crippled by its level design. Levels can be either too long or too short, and they are *extremely* cryptic. You'll push a button and you'll keep roaming looking for the door you just unlocked, and it keep going this way... all the way through. On top of that, we got the same city level used three times with different objectives, and a couple of escort missions where the robot you are escorting dies way too fast. The game might look ok enough on your first minutes, but once you realize how the levels are... oh boy.
