Incarnate exhibition at Langen Foundation Berlin Art Link 2026-01-19 | MONA was recently commissioned by the Langen Foundation in Neuss, Germany to produce a video for the exhibition ‘Incarnate,’ on view from November 9, 2025, to March 10, 2027. Curated by Nadim Samman, the show brings together two of North Rhine-Westphalia’s leading private art institutions, placing modern and contemporary video art from the Julia Stoschek Collection into dialogue with classic Japanese and Asian art from the Viktor and Marianne Langen collection.Alongside views from the exhibition, the video features insights from Nadim Samman about the ideas underpinning the show, as well as perspectives from Julia Stoschek (Founder, Julia Stoschek Foundation), Karla Zerressen (Managing Director, Langen Foundation) and Sabine Langen-Crasemann (Board of directors, Langen Foundation), who share details about this collaborative endeavor. By staging encounters between devotional art and onscreen figures, ‘Incarnate' explores surprising overlaps between Buddhist metaphysics and media aesthetics, challenging distinctions between ancient and contemporary insight. Slater Bradley: Dragonslayer at Parochialkirche, Berlin Berlin Art Link 2025-08-01 | At Parochialkirche in Berlin, Slater Bradley presents his latest exhibition, 'Dragonslayer.' Wetlands for the Future Symposium & Patricia Domínguez’s ‘Liquid Mantras’ Berlin Art Link 2025-07-18 | As part of its ongoing two-year project ‘Swamping,' curated by Pauline Doutreluingne, Kunstverein Arnsberg presented the opening of Patricia Domínguez’s exhibition ‘Liquid Mantras’ on June 27, 2025, followed by the transdisciplinary symposium ‘Wetlands for the Future’ on June 28–29 at Kloster Wedinghausen in Arnsberg. Domínguez’s ‘Liquid Mantras' addresses the privatization and loss of water in Chile, portraying water as a force of resistance with artworks functioning as ritual acts of empowerment. The exhibition remains on view through August 23 at Kunstverein Arnsberg. The two-day ‘Wetlands for the Future’ symposium featured presentations by ecologists, students, artists and curators engaging with the past and future of wetlands. Studio Visit with Isaac Chong Wai Berlin Art Link 2025-03-11 | In this Studio Visit video, presented collaboratively with Deichtorhallen Hamburg on the occasion of their group exhibition ‘States of Rebirth,’ Isaac Chong Wai discusses his two artworks featured in the show as well as his broader multidisciplinary practice, which is informed by personal experiences of systemic violence.In his series ‘Rehearsed, Mirrored,’ Wai captures movements from his performance rehearsals by etching their traces onto mirror and glass panels, revealing the emotional interconnectedness of bodies. Boreal Dreams by Jakob Kudsk Steensen at Fondation Beyeler Berlin Art Link 2025-02-03 | In this video, presented collaboratively with Fondation Beyeler, Jakob Kudsk Steensen offers a glimpse into his new digital art installation, ‘Boreal Dreams,’ as well as behind-the-scenes insights into his practice. Part of the group exhibiton ‘Northern Lights’ at Fondation Beyeler (January 26-May 25, 2025), ‘Boreal Dreams’ examines the impact of the climate crisis on the boreal ecosystem. Studio Visit with Trevor Paglen Berlin Art Link 2024-10-23 | In this video studio visit, presented collaboratively with Deichtorhallen Hamburg on the occassion of their group exhibition ‘Survival in the 21st Century' features Trevor Paglen in his New York studio. Trevor Paglen’s ongoing photographic series 'Unknowns' and an artist proof of his public sculpture 'Trinity Cube,' the original of which is installed in the Fukushima Exclusion Zone, are featured in the group exhibition ‘Survival in the 21st Century’ at Deichtorhallen in Hamburg, which explores the foundations of life in the age of polycrisis. In this video, Paglen talks about the processes behind both works and how his practice, in general, aims to address the tensions between knowing and unknowing, or seeing and lacking an interpretive framework to understand what we are looking at.With both of these ambitious and technically difficult-to-realize projects, Paglen wants to explore humanity's interventions on the planet, pushing us to think about how we affect our environment in a more expanded sense. Studio Visit with Paul Kolling Berlin Art Link 2024-07-31 | In this video, presented collaboratively with Deichtorhallen Hamburg on the occassion of their group exhibition ‘Survival in the 21st Century,’ Paul Kolling invites viewers into his Berlin studio. The artist discusses ‘Westbound – 190621’ (2020), his large-scale work presented in the group show. It consists of five illuminated panels in which a series of images collected on 35mm film shows 9,840 kilometers of train tracks between the cities of Zhengzhou and Hamburg. While it originally aimed to highlight the geopolitical fantasy of the new Silk Road, its presentation at Deichtorhallen also focuses on the genocidal persecution of the Uyghur Muslim minority in China. The camps were unintentionally captured in Kolling’s footage and were later re-contextualized following the research findings of Alison Killing. The artist discusses her practice, which predominantly revolves around film and photography, and her interest in working between observation and staging. CATPC in the Dutch Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale of Art Berlin Art Link 2024-06-26 | Commissioned by The Mondriaan Fund, MONA productions documented ›The International Celebration of Blasphemy and the Sacred‹, an exhibition by the Congolese artist collective Cercle d’Art des Travailleurs de Plantation Congolaise (CATPC) in the Dutch Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale. In collaboration with artist Renzo Martens and curator Hicham Khalidi, this exhibition showcases CATPC’s efforts to reclaim depleted plantation lands and restore the Sacred Forest in Lusanga, DRC, along with their broader mission of spiritual, ethical and economic reckoning.The exhibition takes place from April 20 to November 24, 2024 at the Rietveld Pavilion in Venice and simultaneously at the White Cube in Lusanga—the museum previously established by Martens and CATPC. Jakob Kudsk Steensen: ‘Ephemeral Lake’ at the Hamburger Kunsthalle Berlin Art Link 2024-05-02 | ‘The Ephemeral Lake,’ Jakob Kudsk Steensen’s latest art project presented at the Hamburger Kunsthalle, combines landscape painting with 3D painting, virtual worldbuilding and ambisonic sound in an extraordinary spatial installation, featuring musical contributions from experimental sound artist Okyung Lee. Lúcia Koch: ‘Light Falls’ at carlier | gebauer, Berlin Berlin Art Link 2023-05-31 | Lúcia Koch’s first exhibition with carlier | gebauer opened during the 2023 edition of Gallery Weekend Berlin. In 'Light Falls,' Koch’s immersive sculptural, photographic and installative works shift and reimagine the spaces they inhabit by proposing new relations of scale, occupation and materiality. At carlier | gebauer, the artist has created pieces that replicate the shape of the gallery’s windows into falling sculptures that unfold from the ceiling. Sassan Behnam-Bakhtiars exhibition Floating on Silence at Setareh, Berlin Berlin Art Link 2022-12-23 | In this video gallerist Samandar Setareh walks us through French-Iranian artist’s Sassan Behnam-Bakthiar’s second solo show at the gallery, ‘Floating on Silence,’ which opened on December 8, 2022. The exhibition comprises 14 paintings of garish colours that leave little room for words but stir up an instinctive pull to each one of the canvases. According to Setareh, there is a sense of magic, of unique attraction to the paintings, a flow of energy that makes them almost magnetic. The artist himself insists on the power of silence as a research practice that has profoundly inspired his work and approach to painting. Made of hundreds of layers of colours patiently applied and then scraped off, each one of his paintings captures the deep sense of awareness and self-knowledge Behnam-Bakhtiar has been able to achieve through meditation. Perhaps it is this spirituality, and all the more his ability to instantiate hybridity–having lived both in the West and the East, between France and Iran–that allows his art to speak to everyone. MAI and BAI present the Next Wave of Saudi artists Berlin Art Link 2022-09-23 | In their first ever collaboration, the Misk Art Institute (MAI) from Riyadh and the Berlin Art Institute (BAI) present works by eight emerging Saudi artists: Abdulmohsen Albinali, Abeer Sultan, Bashaer Hawsawi, Fatma Abdulhadi, Hana Almilli, Sara Khalid, Yousef Almana and Ziad Kaki. Launched in 2021, the cooperation consists of studio-based residency programs at the Mahasa Residency, a Misk Art Institute in-house program and the BAI Residency Program at the Berlin Art Institute. 'Next Wave,' a group exhibition of the participating artists, is the culmination of this cultural exchange. Topics addressed by the artists include technology, determinism and notions of belonging. ‘Next Wave’ refers to the avant-garde and the unknown. Sanya Kantarovsky: ‘Center’ at Capitain Petzel, Berlin Berlin Art Link 2022-07-18 | Video documentation of ‘Closer,’ an exhibition of paintings by Sanya Kantarovsky at Capitain Petzel gallery in Berlin; filmed by MONA productions. Responding directly to the Soviet-era modernist architecture of Kunst im Heim, Karl-Marx-Allee 45, Kantarovsky altered the space with a symmetrical arrangement of walls that evoked both religious architecture and anatomical symmetry. This intervention set the stage for motifs of anatomy, biology and spirituality present throughout the displayed artworks. This group of paintings, created in 2021 and at the beginning of 2022, reflects on death and our persistent reminder of it—the body. Exhibition Trailer: Panikbeleuchtung by Christoph Hänsli at Galerie Judin Berlin Art Link 2022-02-14 | Christoph Hänsli is a Swiss conceptual artist using traditional painting to depict everyday objects. ‘Panikbeleuchtung’ (‘Panic Lighting’) is an extension of his motivic canon of “order” and “preservation” to include “warning.” The Kunsthalle Bielefeld and the Institute for Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research in Gatersleben served as the starting point for the works on display. ‘Panikbeleuchtung’ is a warning of sorts that the Institute’s collection of specimens and plants dawns toward disposal, just as the technically outdated switches and warning lights in the Kunsthalle do.
