In this highlight from Free Support Friday, we’re breaking down two of the most underutilized but critical tools in the Autodesk Fusion 360 Inspect menu: Accessibility Analysis and Minimum Radius Analysis. If you've ever scrapped a part because a tool couldn't reach a deep pocket or left a "blob" in a corner, this video is for you.
Know Your Limits Before You Cut These analysis tools aren't just "eye candy"—they are functional maps that tell you exactly how to program your CAM.
1. Accessibility Analysis This tool is your best friend for multi-axis or complex 3-axis work. By selecting a direction (your Z-axis), Fusion colors the model to show you exactly what is "visible" to the tool and what is "occluded" (blocked).
The Secret: Use this to determine if you need to flip the part, use a longer tool, or move to a 4th/5th axis setup. If it's red, you're not hitting it from that orientation.
2. Minimum Radius Analysis Stop guessing which pencil tool or finishing endmill you need. Minimum Radius Analysis colors the model based on the curvature of your internal fillets.
The Secret: Set your "Maximum Radius" to the size of the tool you want to use. Anything highlighted indicates a radius smaller than your tool, meaning you'll leave material behind or "dig" into the corners.
