With these words, Crowley begins his "New Comment" on The Book of the Law. This lecture by Entelecheia explores Crowley's justification for this bold statement along with many of the implications it has for Thelemic metaphysics, theology, and soteriology. We also consider how this central truth is embodied and given dramatic and symbolic expression in Liber XV and in the Thoth Tarot.

That in general, the chosen colors simply reinforce the explicit attributes of the card, but also that there are many instances where color adds additional narrative that is not accessible based purely on form. The talk begins with an overview of the history of the use of color in occultism. The latter half will be spent looking at specific cards from the Thoth Tarot and decoding their colors.

What was Crowley's relationship with Pan such that he insisted his Hymn to Pan be read at his funeral? These questions and many more will be answered in this lecture by Denny Sargent, which will introduce listeners to the power and magick of Pan within the context of Thelema. This lecture will not only consider the role of Pan in the life and work of the Beast 666; it will also situate that work within the context of renewed cultural interest in Pan in the British and European art and literature of Crowley's era. Delivered by a serious devotee of Pan, this lecture is not to be missed! IO PAN!

In addition to English, Sabhapati’s writings and/or hagiographical accounts survive in Tamil, Sanskrit, Bengali, Hindustani, Marathi, German, and French (with a record of Telugu), and his work is distinguished by its rich visual depictions of yogic physiology.
In this talk, Keith presents a brief sketch of Sabhapati’s life and works and then talks about the way he was engaged by the founders of the Theosophical Society, Henry Olcott and H.P. Blavatsky, and how his works were later translated into German by Franz Hartmann. He then devotes special attention to the way Aleister Crowley integrated his teachings into some of his meditative instructions published in The Equinox and elsewhere, and explains how he and other occultists would have likely interpreted his instructions on canceling (note: not “balancing” or “aligning”!) the cakras. Finally, he shows how his forthcoming editions and translations of Sabhapati’s works, especially those written in a specific form of “Sanskritized” Tamil and Hindustani, provide many additional ritual instructions of practical relevance to modern occultism, such as mantras and rites for invoking various gods and goddesses, the nine deities of the planets and lunar nodes (navagraha), and many other rites that fit well within the kind of “eclectic syncretic” method that Crowley and other occultists promoted as a viable alternative to — but not necessarily a replacement for — traditional cultural forms of religious practice.
Keith Edward Cantú is a scholar of religious history who recently fulfilled the requirements for a PhD in Religious Studies (South Asian religions) at the University of California, Santa Barbara, to be awarded in June of this year. His dissertation, entitled “Sri Sabhapati Swami and the ‘Translocalization’ of Śivarājayoga,” examined the Tamil, pan-Indian, and international reception of Sabhapati’s system of yoga, which spans multiple linguistic and cultural worlds, including Theosophy and later Thelema via the works of Aleister Crowley. He has also published articles, chapters, and edited books on Western esotericism and post-Orientalist discourses, on Islamic esotericism and the Baul Fakirs of India and Bangladesh, and on Sanskrit literature on alchemy, and serves as an Associate Editor for Correspondences: Journal for the Study of Esotericism. Keith was previously a member of Horizon Lodge before moving to Santa Barbara to complete his studies and continues to pursue his abiding interest in all things related to O.T.O. and A⸫A⸫.

Truth, Justice, and Balance are all crucial to success in understanding and practicing magick. This presentation and discussion by Aion131 focuses on how Ma’at magick weaves itself not only through Crowley’s works, but also how it connects with the ‘Ma-Ion’ Ma’atian gnosis as proclaimed by Frater Achad, the black flame Ma’at emanations of Soror Nema, as well as others in the wider Thelemic community. Achad saw the spiral of the Aeon of Horus and the Aeon of Ma’at entwining and supporting each other, and others believe that the balancing of the Aeons of Horus and of Ma’at will help humanity survive the force and fire of this Aeon.

In this lecture, Entelecheia will lead us on an exploration of truth as the difference between what is alive versus what is dead. We will consider the ways a ritual, a tradition, and an individual can serve as living symbols of truth. We will consider the radical possibility that what we call life is in fact a form of death, and that perhaps the dead are more alive than we realize.

In addition to English, Sabhapati’s writings and/or hagiographical accounts survive in Tamil, Sanskrit, Bengali, Hindustani, Marathi, German, and French (with a record of Telugu), and his work is distinguished by its rich visual depictions of yogic physiology.
In this talk, a portion of which is here excerpted, Keith presents a brief sketch of Sabhapati’s life and works and then talks about the way he was engaged by the founders of the Theosophical Society, Henry Olcott and H.P.
Keith was previously a member of Horizon Lodge before moving to Santa Barbara to complete his studies and continues to pursue his abiding interest in all things related to O.T.O. and A⸫A⸫.
