All the experience I picked up recently, while composing 2021, really paid off in this one.Difficulty wise it's kind of hard to pinpoint it; it's around the same difficulty as most of my customs turn out, but also has a few particularly tricky sections in both solos. The final section is a (slightly nerfed) version of my remix of the song But The Earth Refused to Die, which plays during the final battle of the Pacifist route of the game. 75 (CH custom song) BlackPawn14 2021-12-31 | The second release for the New Year, this is actually a song I left almost finished about 3 months ago, when me and GinstrCH tried to do a 1-hour challenge song (basically, compose a song in 1 hour). I ended up requiring 15 minutes more, to come up with this...Well... not exactly. The result was pretty rough, so I left it in post-production for a while, until it was in a state where it was worth to release. After several attempts at fiddling with the result (including adding a whole section in the middle, to "break up" the main solo), I finally felt satisfied enough with the song to actually release it. Enlightenment (CH custom song) BlackPawn14 2021-10-15 | Alright, here's another song. This is my 2nd longest song so far (arguably the longest "proper" song I've made, since Humane had that very long orchestral break in the middle), as well as the highest note count in a custom I've made.I've been trying to compose songs in the same style I did when I first got into composing; songs that moved between musical themes, instead of sticking to a theme and soloing away. For the first time in a while, I feel like I achieved that well, although that also led to a much longer production time than I've been achieving recently (this song took about a month of on-and-off work to complete). This song is heavily inspired by the original Epiphany, (one of my first songs), and could be considered as something of a sequel to it. As usual, I tried to go for complexity and variety rather than speed as the main challenge. It's also fairly constant in its difficulty; it has some breaks, but most of the time you're doing something. This is another custom song, one that I've been working on for a while.This song is intended to be my hardest (fully FCable, not counting some of my dumb earlier songs) custom song yet, while still being not based on sheer speed, but on unique methods and overall skill. I actually built (most of) the chart in a blank Moonscraper file a few months ago, then eventually got around to translate it to FL Studio, as well as adding a solid melody to carry the patterns. This might not be my best-sounding custom (this song was very chart-focused, rather than audio-focused), but hopefully it will be a fun challenge for top-tier players.Alongside the "main" chart, I decided to go ahead and release an alternate version, slightly nerfing some parts and re-arranging some patterns to make them much more straightforward. This should be a more fun (but still very difficult) song for high-level players. Alive (CH custom song) BlackPawn14 2021-05-29 | Got a new custom done, a bit sooner than expected.The reason why I was concerned I might not be able to make new songs for a while was due to a family emergency. Fortunately, the situation did somehow resolve itself a couple weeks after I released 8-Bit Pursuit.Ultimately, once the Synergy track pack project was announced, I got inspired to start producing a new song, with the idea of possibly submitting it for the pack. And well, here's the result.It's a bit easier than most of my songs, as I targeted a lower difficulty bracket than the usual. Has a few technical tapping sections, but at a relatively low speed, other than a few fast trills and a fast tapping section at the end. It should be a fun FC challenge for most high-level players, while being reasonably playable for mid-level players as well.Music-wise, I went for the more electronic style I used in songs like Humane and Automata. I'm finding it a bit easier to produce songs in this style as of late, so I may make more similar songs in the future. Opus 19 (Clone Hero custom song) BlackPawn14 2021-04-10 | Here's another custom, this time an actually easy one! This was a project I had in the backburner for a while, to do a more orchestral-themed song, inspired by the orchestral part from earlier customs, like Humane. I then decided to pick it back up now, clean it up, and release it, because why not.This is by far my easiest custom released so far, with only one difficult section, in the form of a technical chord piano solo halfway through the song. 2021 (CH custom song) BlackPawn14 2021-01-30 | One year and a half ago, I decided to try out composing songs for Clone Hero. About one year ago to the date, I released what may have been my first "serious" custom song (the first I've been truly satisfied with, at least): 2020. It was by no means perfect, but it was fun to listen and to play. And I liked it.Today, one year later, I release 2021, the 2nd of a "planned" series of songs intended to showcase my progress as a composer for the Clone Hero community throughout the years. And yes, these songs will be released yearly, for as long as I remain active in the composing community. For this song, I sought to apply the best composing practices possible, using a wide variety of synths, and better guitars than the ones I used in 2020. Difficulty-wise it's similar to 2020, with technical tapping and strumming sections alike.I decided to bundle this release with a re-release of 2020, using improved synths and applying some of what I've learned throughout the year to make the song as good as it can be. Humane (Clone Hero custom song) BlackPawn14 2020-09-23 | Here's the third out of 3 new releases this week. And this time, it's a completely new, original song!Clocking in at over 6 minutes, this is my longest custom song yet. I tried to make it shorter, for playability's sake, but the only real way I could figure out to shave a meaningful amount of runtime off of the song was by pretty much removing 2/3rds of the intermission. While that section's admittedly not particularly interesting playability-wise, I really, really like how it turned out sound-wise. So, I decided to keep it... and also release an abridged version, geared towards actual gameplay. The 5-min abridged version will also be available for download here.I went for a more mellow sound than usual, loosely inspired by some of SoInhumane's customs.
