My new release ‘Songs from the Ricefields’, has been a real labour of love to make here while living in the north of Thailand.
If you watch my Vlogs about daily life in a remote area of Northern Thailand, you’ll know I constantly talk about the need to have hobbies and to follow your passion in life.
I started this project back in Jan 2025 and worked on it almost daily for 6 months. Its not perfect, its not meant to be…we have AI for that now. But its real
With the exception of the drums on ‘Thai Reggae Bar’, which features my son Nate, I play and produce all the noise on here (except for the fake drums)
I wrote all the words and music with the exception of ‘Dance on Your Grave’ which was co-written with Joe Breitenbach.
I want to thank everybody who takes the time to listen and especially if you come back and listen again.
If you’re interested in owning a permanent download of the entire album or individual songs, it’s available on iTunes at

Summer Rain
There’s a big black cloud a hanging overhead
Fill a mind just a full of dread
You’ve put those valuables all away
On this summer day
Thats just been blown away
Time to change those plans you made
Chorus 1
Theres always something coming
Its always got you running
And now it’s stopping all your race
Replaced by a Summer Rain
It’s just another song on an endless night
It’s a better sound than a better sight
Some things makes you feel so brave
On this summer day,
On your planned escape
You know theres nothing but change
Chorus 2
Nows it’s aiming at you
Coming faster than you
Now you know you’ve lost your way
In the Summer Rain
Bridge
Seeing what you’re after
Crying in pain
No one will see your
Tears in the Summer Rain
Somethings gotta change
Solo
It’s another song on another night
It’s never wrong cause its never right
It’s all become reality
The sun returns another day
And all that Summer Rain
Will all be just be a memory
Outro

Someone Above You
If you’re blurring all the lines
And you know
That this is the only the way
Leaving all the signs
If you’re burning in desire
And you know
That this is all that remains
Dropping on a dime
Chorus 1
I’m watching it grow
Soften the change
Someone just to love you
Ive opened the door
Stopped all the pain
Someone Up Above You
Bridge 1
Seems so crazy that’s so many are unwilling to change
Some are running to their grave
Solo
Cause the struggle with your mind
Is alive don’t set your light to fade
No need to decline
If you’re burning with a fire
And you know
That this is the only the way
Leaving all the signs
Chorus2
Im falling behind
Again and again
Someone just to love you
I’m walking the line
Breakin the chains
Someone up above you
Bridge2
Seems so crazy that you never wanna make any change
You’re just marching to your grave
Chorus 1
I’m watching it grow
Soften the change
Someone just to love you
Ive opened the door
Stopped all the pain
Someone Up Above You
Chorus2
Im falling behind
Again and again
Someone just to love you
I’m watching the line
Breakin the chains
Someone up above you
This song was inspired by Nate’s recent trip to Thailand

Lyrics
Thai Reggae Bar
Wanna find a place
that I can go
and maybe really hide away
Gonna hit the road,
gonna get a spot
To finish up my day
Oh
and I’ll meet you
down at the Thai Reggae Bar
Fire up a fatty
gonna watch the sunset
fade and fall away
Chillin with my buds
Gonna have a laugh
And know that it’s OK
Oh and I’ll meet you
Down at the Thai Reggae Bar
Moonlight dance
Smokey romances with Marley
The Chang bottles grow
Under black lights glow
Rolling up a Doobie,
gonna chill real easy
Maybe float away
Checkin out the band
Gonna watch a jam
And play if its ok
Oh and I’ll meet you
Down at the Thai Reggae Bar
Its life in a Thai village
Get me out of here!
PS got copyrighted for the Queen song
Y’all owe me a pint!

We take him up to Chiang Rai to experience some Thai dancing at the Saturday walking street.
We also explore a local temple compound which displays a lot of old Thai antiques and musical instruments.
Part of this mountain area became famous when the wild boars soccer team got trapped by floodwaters in 2018
We explore the cave and unexpectedly run in to one of the heroes, Vern Unsworth, the man that helped save the 13 boys and their coach with the help of Thai Navy divers and an international team of Cave divers

This is our village but every village across Thailand will be doing the same thing, rallying together to help. Even if its just their time
It’s incredible.
Thank you to the people who donated some cash, its going directly to those in need
I am not really comfortable showing this kind of stuff off, but I promised a video showing people where their money was spent.
This is going to be an ongoing series as we see what people need as the water receeds
