Also the last video was not focused that well (still getting used to this sony camera) so this ones in crispy 4k to make up for it, welcome to the butterzone. You can stream sid factory ii output via ASID to station64 on the c64 but for 100% accuracy and timing it is of course better to run it natively on the c64. I Think this sort of thing is why Sid chips in particular the 6581's are so hard to emulate or make replacements of.

Then you need the print bit which is laser cut and quite delicate. My laptop died, and some other b.s. This video is filmed on my phone as I just didn't feel like doing the whole DSLR and syncing today. Hope thats ok. The track has some commodore 64 speech thats being live mangled, some samples from a foreign station (maybe it isn't I don't understand it) that seems to be illegally broadcasting on airport frequencies. A snippet of my eternal ambient space ship sleep drone that I will one day post. If you have a sub this should have some good bass. There some lofi krell stuff going on in here, and managed to get hypesynth feedbacking like a guitar amp. other weird techniques, lot of generative stuff in this.Still don't have OBS etc working again on this second hand laptop so it has been a bit of a set back. Therapsid hard synced PWM 6581 Avrilcadabra 2023-04-16 | This is a Therapsid from Twisted Electrons. which was sent to me to make a demonstration video (this is not that video) as there are very few videos on it and I love sid chips and c64's I'm like Bane except I was born into Sid pulse width modulation instead of darkness. I have had it for over a month now and have been working hard testing pretty much every day to make sure it does everything it is suppose to do and everything a c64 fan might expect it to do. Some issues are still present as of this video but are being worked on. It is open source and I suggest anyone considering one go and read the issues section on Twisted Electrons github to see what bugs remain and what future enhancements might be coming. while this works as just a very nice retro sounding hands on synth for those that are not commodore die hards it can be sequenced multitimbrally as shown here and controlled with cc's. As of this video I am still waiting for glide to be fixed to work multitimbrally (each voice glides independently and works fine in the main modeinThis is just a test day I filmed. without any care to video quality. Expect a full demonstration of this synth in the near future.In this video the Therapsid is being sequenced by the Dirtywave M8. I'm pointing to the individual voices as the m8 turns them on.
MSSIAH Bassline (C64 303) Avrilcadabra 2023-04-01 | I got a new C64c that looks like the other one!this one is an 8580r5 made in 1990 so I finally got to hear MSSIAH bassline as intended.the M8 is sending clock to the c64 over midi. Omx-27 is in M8 mode to mute / solo the drum tracks on the M8. The box with pots I built. Basically it is just 4 pots (think I used half the value off the actual paddle pots as like half the range did nothing with actual paddles)and a toggle switch because cynthcarts filter is backwards. took many years of collecting things and building things and study to make this 60 second video. hopefully someone enjoys it.

Hypersynth on Dirtywave M8 with new ADSR envelopes in 3.0 Avrilcadabra 2023-03-22 | This is in the soon to be released Firmware 3.0 for the M8This was filmed on Beta 0, 16 beta's later we got to RC1 and it should be ready for full release soon.Uploaded from my phone (direct audio though) but I will post a bigger video on 3.0 soon with better audio and video. This is the new Synth engine, it is called Hypersynth, it is a 13 saw engine, 12 saws and 1 sub. It is designed as a chord engine, the saws can be split in stereo pairs across 6 pitches to make 6 note chords in a single track. also now ADSR envelopes are in the M8. Which makes playing with a keyboard a lot of fun. So here we have 8 instances of hype synth (104 saws 8 notes were held on midi keyboard)Thought it would be amusing to use the virus to control it.

Though this video needs to be on the internet. lot of this stuff is so niche or lost it just doesn't exist on youtube. it's not really what I usually do on this channel but if not me who else is going to do it. So what's going on here. The Software on the Laptop is from Elektron's download page for the SID station. it is an ASID player. Basically you load a sid file into it and it sends that data via midi cables (not midi protocol) so the Sidstation..Midibox sid. (I think Hardsid) can support ASID. probably others. DJ Indikator wanted a way for a real commodore 64 to be compatible with ASID so in recent years they made Station64which is a full midi native c64 software but it amazing supports ASID. http://www.djindikator.net/c64The Elektron software doesn't know what it is sending to. So the c64 is playing it on its 6581r4ar into my mixer. into the little M8 tracker which is being an audio interface for my phone so this video has direct audio. I was so happy to get this working. had to share. Also more people that hear Ode to 64 the better.

Access Virus C vs DSP56300Emu Avrilcadabra 2023-02-22 | I wanted to test this for myself since I couldn't find any comparison. The volumes are not exact. I am not a scientist. youtubes compression probably made it worse. the point is they are pretty much the same. the virus control panel is even mapped correctly by default except the softknobs dont change the vst. the vst also seems unable to load banks correctly (only loads 16 presets from a bank) so I am showing some stock presets here. Maybe I will say which was which a bit later.

I have had this Roland SC88VL for a year or so and I use it fairly often as I don't have many poly synths and it doesn't take up much space. The QY100 is a recent addition. The super Midi pak I will feature more, it just got an update to work quietly on PAL machines. Note seems between unplugging the audio cables from the qy100 and sc88 the Left and Right got flipped. Convert the pwm lead track to midi and send it to the real c64 via kerberos and cynthcart.#commodore64 #m8trackercynthcart is pretty limited in sound design so this is about the best pwm lead I can get out of it. probably should have used sidwizard but another day. m8 is doing all other sounds..I made them in wavesynth and they are made the same way you would make them on goat tracker or sidwizard with pwm tables and rapid osc changes in tables for the drums.M8 midi into kerberos. running cynthcart. c64 audio into zoom h6 then h6 into m8 (I do it this way to lessen the chance of damaging the sid so I dont have to unplug it or the cables are not being moved)then m8 usb into phone. so video can record with direct audio.

How to make lush Shimmer reverb on M8 Avrilcadabra 2022-08-02 | If there's a will there's a way. #m8tracker #dirtywave Sorry this video is fast, I tried to make it slow, but not slow enough, I zoom around the M8 so quick from using it so much. , so I'll explain here.If you have the current firmware you can quickly render any bit of a song. Hold shift and option to select what you want to render then press Edit 3 times, select OK to render, M8 will auto load a sampler instrument and add the render (how neat)My pattern was 4 phrases long, so I make a new chain on the song screen, add new phrase, in that phrase add a c-4 note, it will be the new rendered sample.then I add three empty FE phrases to the chain, to pad it out, so the sample plays uninterrupted for 4 phrases long.Next we apply the time stretch method to our instrument, set LENGTH to 00, PLAY to FWD LOOP, set LFO to LOOPST, set OSC to Ramp UP, TRG to RETRIG,and finally FRQ to whatever length your sample is, mine was 4 phrases so I select 40 (help text says this is 4 phrases), if your pattern you rendered was 1 phrase long, then set FRQ to 10 for example, Tweak LENGTH till it sounds less crap, between 2-4 usually.Now adjust your C-4 to be C-5, shimmers are pitch shifted reverb an octave higher than the original sound. Because we have applied the time stretch technique our render will still be in time an octave higher. (if you want to make submarine reverb set it to C-3, or add another chain on song screen and have submarine and shimmer together!?)Now turn the DRY to 00 on the render, turn the reverb to A0, now we will only hear the octave up reverb tail, now to delay the reverb tail we use the FX command DEL02, to delay the render by 2 ticks. Now it will sound pretty good.The final step is to add reverb on your original pattern, it will then blend into the octave up render reverb to create a full sounding Shimmer. Make sure your M8 has firmware 2.7.1 or higher.
