Original audio: youtube.com/watch?v=TJg6-IcKVNwThe Floppestra - Song of th[e] Ancients (NieR)spartan4562017-11-25 | I'm back. Now featuring the world's first singing hard drive duet.
Wew. So, I have virtual surround sound headphones. Every floppy drive video I've ever made, I used these headphones to edit the audio. With virtual surround sound enabled. And I recorded all of the audio I used for mixing with a stereo recorder. This resulted in...some interesting results with the audio balance. I had absolutely NO idea that all of my previous videos sounded like absolute trash with the incredible inbalances between left and right audio.
After discovering that, I felt pretty heartbroken because I put so much work into those other videos and in terms of quality, they were awful. It discouraged me from wanting to make more. Plus, recording the audio in general is a very lengthy, time consuming process. Edit the MIDI, send it to the drives, record, mix, listen, change the MIDI, send it to the drives, record, mix, listen, etc.
This song took 4 hours of recording and editing just to get it to where I wanted it. This isn't including the time I spent time stretching the vocals (...both vocal tracks) to the MIDI I planned on using. Lots of scrapped recordings, lots of scrapped ideas on what should play what. It's all experimentation until I get the right sound, and nothing is worse than when I have to scrap an entire recording because someone talked a little too loud, or my stomach grumbled, or a car drives by. In the months between January and now, I have been collecting a number of MIDIs of various songs from NieR and NieR: Automata. I also wanted to use the vocals from the songs I was able to find, and luckily, both NieR and Automata have stems for many of the songs in their soundtracks, just have to rip them from the game files. I knew the vocals would sound haunting through the hard drives.
Hard drive audio is now substantially better because I have learned the optimal way to record them. The vocals you're hearing in this are being played back by the hard drives and recorded by my microphones. Compared to my other videos featuring singing hard drives, this is far and away the best. Actually, this entire song is far and away the best one I think I've made so far.
I've had this one done for awhile but only just now got around to filming it. I was holding out to include the tesla coil but sadly I have not been able to finish it. The electronics are all solid and ready, but the weather around here has been awful these last few months so I've been unable to complete insulating it. I just have to finish coating it in polyurethane, but I need to do it outside to let it dry and since around February it's been raining or snowing every other day. Annoying.
I decided to play around a bit with this one and experiment with some stuff in production value. It took awhile to get that cool 1980's era shitty TV look, and I felt the marching cadence fit extremely well with this song. I've also made some changes to create a kind of distortion filter on the square waves played back by the hard drives. I think this one sounds really cool and I intend to use it in future videos.
I lost the makeshift tripod I used for filming the scanner, so all the footage of it looks like it's being filmed by Michael J. Fox. Sorry about that, but it worked out well because of all the marching interjections.
I have a multitude of songs planned. I wish I had released this and the others I have planned much sooner, like beginning of the year sooner, instead of waiting on the weather to hopefully become nice to finish the tesla coil.
It's about to hit summer time so hopefully I can get a period of about a week straight with a good forecast and no rain. After I get that unicorn of a week I'll implement the coil.
I appreciate everybody for their patience, and I hope you all enjoy this one. I think this is the best one I've done so far. Stay tuned for more floppy covers!Still Alive but with floppy drives (ft GLaDOS and Steam Controller)spartan4562017-01-01 | Hope everyone has a good new year.
I had all of the audio recordings done last week but I didn't get around to filming anything until a couple days ago.
The steam controller is a new addition. I'm probably not going to use it with everything but I think it was really fitting for this cover.
I am working on a behind the scenes that goes in depth on how all of this stuff works. I am also working on building a new "instrument".
When I have this new instrument built, tested, and ready for action I will finish the behind the scenes, because the new member to the orchestra will definitely get a lot of questions asked. It is also a very dangerous and lethal instrument, so hopefully I won't die either.
Yes, Soviet March is something I am working on. But I'm waiting for my new addition to be built before I record anything. There arent any floppy drivesspartan4562016-12-30 | This is an excerpt from a behind-the-scenes video I am working on. I will definitely upload another way more in-depth behind the scenes in the very absolute positive near future maybe

This one I whipped up pretty fast, today actually. I've been working on another one for the last week but I realized I should probably do a Christmas song. It's been crunch time since about 6 PM. Finally got everything done.
I was going to hook up christmas lights to this and have a neat lightshow but I couldn't get the damn things to turn on.
Stay tuned the next couple days for my next one. I'll have to poke around on the old CCFL inverter and find out what made it stop working. Hopefully I don't die.
Anyway, here's another one. I have begun playing around with piezo/instrument pickups and I have used them in this recording to add a little extra to it. They actually make a huge difference. The Tanto is great because it has just enough range to hit scouts. If they're slightly out of range you can move up pretty quick while still aiming and shooting. It also doesn't require ammo, therefore no need to reload (which can be detrimental with taking out scouts if you get stuck mid-reload with a group ahead of you). Since it's a one-handed weapon, you can do quick sweeps with it while firing as well, unlike other rifles. This makes it one of the best weapons for eliminating Bug scouts. Shotguns work well too, but they need to be reloaded and if you have multiple packs converging on you, you'll likely get stuck in a reload and sound an alarm.
Cardio Accelerator is really personal preference. I prefer it just for being able to run fast, which is useful for outrunning pursuing enemies.
The shield generator can also be swapped for a jet pack. I prefer the shield generator because it nullifies the effects of poison while it is up, so if I do get hit by a mantis, it doesn't slow me down. The jet pack can serve the same purpose, but with the shield I can stay in one spot (like if I'm calling in a strategem or finishing an objective) while taking hits. With the jet pack, I'd have to use it and stop what I'm doing.
The Demolishers (aka C4/detpacks/demo charges) are an absolute must. I recommend them in any situation. Moreso than other anti-armor like the Recoilless Rifle or Commando 4x launcher. The benefit of these is, you can rely on yourself to deploy them. I mostly play with randoms, and more often than not none of them understand the assisted reload mechanic, so I'm left with a sweet anti-tank weapon that takes 10 seconds to reload between shots, making it useless. The demolishers remove my necessity to rely on others for anti-tank necessities. At Rank 3, they have a 45 second cooldown and 5 in a single drop. However, if you do not have access to these (as they are a DLC weapon), the EAT-17s work just as well.It just worksspartan4562015-11-20 | BRAVO BETHESDA R A V OFallout 4 features breathtaking AI that exhibits true emotions and simulates real conversationsspartan4562015-11-17 | ...Vidya Game Clubspartan4562015-10-08 | Watch me be autistic and play gamesassuming direct controlspartan4562015-02-19 | ...buckle upspartan4562013-11-03 | ...XCOM Classic Ironman (S1E27): Mutiliation Boulevardspartan4562013-08-29 | ...XCOM Classic Ironman (S1E26): ALIUMSspartan4562013-08-29 | ...XCOM Classic Ironman (S1E25): Sectopodsspartan4562013-08-29 | ...XCOM Classic Ironman (S1E24): Murder Street: Terror Editionspartan4562013-08-29 | ...XCOM Classic Ironman (S1E23): Dont Drop The Soapspartan4562013-08-29 | ...XCOM Classic Ironman (S1E22): Muton Bull Rushspartan4562013-08-29 | ...XCOM Classic Ironman (S1E21): Docksspartan4562013-08-29 | ...XCOM Classic Ironman (S1E20): Thin Man Circus: THE SEQUALspartan4562013-07-04 | ...XCOM Classic Ironman (S1E19): Highway to the Danger Zonespartan4562013-06-05 | ...XCOM Classic Ironman (S1E18): Chryssalid Book Shopspartan4562013-06-05 | ...XCOM Classic Ironman (S1E17): Independence Dayspartan4562013-06-05 | ...XCOM Classic Ironman (S1E16): 54th Street Shooting Galleryspartan4562013-05-16 | Much to my surprise, a Cyberdisk was waiting just beyond the fog of war of my squad's starting position. After some serious consideration, and an impossible rocket blast from Mina Vos, I managed to take it down smoothly with Park Liu.
And then I was assaulted relentlessly by Sectoids, Floaters, and Mutons. I guess the aliens were pretty pissed at me from episode 15 when I relentlessly assaulted three packs of Mutons.
At 3:52, I slipped up and moved Sophie and Vos near a car that was on fire. I didn't even realize it was on fire until it blew up. It's a damn good thing I had everyone in Carapace armor.
I find it rather fitting that the name of this mission is Swift Fist, seeing as how this is the shortest video of the series.
Unfortunately, it looks like some of Asia will be lost before the end of the month. I need 30 engineers to build another Satellite Uplink, but I only have 24, and by the time I had enough money to build an Uplink, I couldn't do it. I won't be able to get satellites over all of Asia until a little bit into the next month.XCOM Classic Ironman (S1E15): Muton Strip Mallspartan4562013-05-16 | This map. This fucking map. Oh my god, I hate it so much. The only way to effectively engage packs on this map when you only have basic gear is to remain concealed and stay as far away from the structures as possible.
Normally I'm okay with staying back and waiting for the enemy to come to me, but when they're dug in deep behind good cover, it takes some resourcefulness with explosives to fix that.
This would have been a lot easier if Zhao wasn't in med-bay. A lot of my tactics when I have snipers involve using an assaulter with Lightning Reflexes to get up close and establish clear line of sight, and to flush enemies behind hard cover.
But somehow, I managed.
Also, if you're wondering why the music changed after the crossfade at 6:57, it's because I had to save and quit after I deployed the smoke grenade and the aliens got their turn. When I loaded the save back up, the music changed.XCOM Classic Ironman (S1E14): The Last Thing You Never Seespartan4562013-05-16 | This was easily the most entertaining mission I've done so far. Mutons everywhere, and plenty of badass squadmates to lay on the pressure while my snipers hang back and kick some major ass. Australia was on the verge of withdrawing, and I could have used one satellite for Europe to reduce panic in Australia (making Future Combat possible in the next month). Instead, I opted for the immediate bonus of Expert Knowledge.
Fortunately for me, my last mission of the month was a Council mission to extract someone in the middle of Australia. Not only do I now have a chance to get Asia in this next month, but I also got a badass spec ops motherfucker sniper waifu for Park Liu.
I'm still waiting for shit to hit the fan, though. I can't believe I've done this well so far.
