「信義」 IN MEMORIAM | amv xAnicsi 2021-07-29 | Here's the video I edited for the finals of POE last year. I put a lot of time and thought into the execution, and was really happy I won the contest with it! The theme for this round was 'time capsule', so pretty self-explanatory. In the end it became quite a personal video for me (as it usually does it seems...) My great-grandfather was a French soldier stationed in Germany during the early stages of war. It was unthinkable, of course, to fall in love with a German woman. They vowed to escape together - to leave the country, to somewhere out of reach, where rank and nationality wouldn't matter. The day they were meant to meet at the train station, she saw him standing in the hall, waiting for her. Just when she was about to call out to him, she saw military officers approaching. Shocked into silence, she could do nothing but watch as he was led away. It was the last time she would see him. She was already carrying his child.What sounds like the scene from a movie is the bitter truth for so many families out there. Just because the fighting ends at some point, doesn’t mean the surviving get to reunite. My great-grandmother was a strong woman. Even after the war, for years and years to come she tried everything in her power to find him, to know at least, if he was dead or alive. I wanted to bring that feeling across - being left behind in a war torn world, unable to let go or find closure, just never 'knowing'. Violet in my story is not a war machine, not a soldier bloodied in endless fights – she is just a woman in the aftermath of war, forever wishing and waiting to see his face once more.I used a crossover of two anime and quite a bit of tweaking to make it work. I had a tough time deciding how to end the video. Originally the final clip was left out, and I ended it at her smiling through tears. But Alicia and Amy were like 'no way, you cannot end it like that!', so, there you go, haha. I decided to keep the background white for it to have sort of a 'dreamy' ambiance - an open ending if you so will.That was a long description, kudos if you made it this far, have a cookie! 「信義」Silent Melody | Koe no Katachi AMV xAnicsi 2021-05-20 | I edited this video for Round 1 of POE back in October. I had planned to change a tiny little thing with the text, but I have simply no time and my editing macbook is already 9 years old and the rendering for this particular project took forever, so... I'll just leave it be. The theme was 'parts of the body'. I had so much fun editing this video and I am eternally grateful this movie exists. I asked my cousin to teach me a little bit of sign language, but as the editing was progressing, I realized that it really is entirely different in each country, sometimes including several dialects. So the sign language I included, albeit correct, is a mixture of several sign languages across the world. I'd also like to mention that I took liberty in adjusting the storyline quite a bit. 「信義」Am I (Not) Human, Too? xAnicsi 2020-12-09 | "No space in your arms is made for my nature..."The theme for this round of POE was 'Gadgets and Gizmos'. I thought of artificial intelligence, androids and robots, and Metropolis came to mind. It's a very powerful film with some of the most beautiful animation I have ever seen. Unfortunately, besides the main girl, the character designs are really not my style (aka, ugly), but I wanted to focus on the robots here anyway, so... Also, I am absolutely in LOVE with Woodkid's new album. This was one of the songs that stood out to me as eerily beautiful. The Japanese children's choir, paired with lyrics about reactors, and a feeling of isolation and segregation seemed almost too good to be true. While editing, I felt like the song was written for this anime. THEME"The citizens of Metropolis build and use robots for their convenience, and won’t hesitate to dispose of them the second they don’t fulfill their purpose.The android girl in this movie is but a tool to greater power, in a war between robots, second class humans, and those god-like figures standing above all else. The moment she realises she is not human, should not be able to feel love or be loved in return, is so heartbreaking. The theme this time around was 'Dynamic Duo', to focus on two characters that form a team of sorts. I was immediately reminded of this movie, and when I heard the song, I actually startled by how matching the lyrics are. I mean... not giving up on your dreams, falling into the sky and worlds reappearing - all that literally screams Patema Inverted haha For a while I've been meaning to make a video about the ambiguity of dreams. They can lift us to higher grounds, but they can also become shackles when they get too overwhelming and seemingly out of reach. It can be comforting to know that there is someone out there who shares your goals and visions. Both characters are tied down by their search for ‚something more‘ in their confining worlds, but only together they learn to overcome their fears and carry the burden to achieve their mutual dream. 「信義」Festival of Souls // AMV xAnicsi 2020-11-01 | Hi guys, as promised, here’s my first ‚new‘ video after about 5 years! (At least the first one I am uploading, hehe…) I decided to participate in the Project Org Editor contest again, because back in 2015 it inspired me to create some of my most cherished videos and with everything that’s going on, when would I ever find enough time again, right? There is something about pushing yourself to edit a video to a certain theme within a week that’s both challenging and inspiring. Admittedly, I enjoyed the experience more the last time around, but I am trying to find the passion and momentum I had for editing back in the day, so this is helping me tremendously. Theme for this round was ‚‘tis the season’ and focused around holidays and seasons. Obon in Japan is a buddhist festival during which the souls of the deceased are said to return back to earth. It is one of my most cherished memories from visiting Japan, and I wished we had a similar tradition to honor our loved ones. During the festival, families traditionally send their ancestors' spirits back to their dwelling place under the guidance of fire and dance. It is sad because it makes us think about people who passed, but it is also fun and happiness, and a bit of mystery and magic. While editing this video, I had so many fond flashbacks of experiencing this festival a couple of years ago, and I tried to include everything I loved about it back then.Today is All Saint’s Day in many parts of the world, a day when we visit the graves of people who passed before us, so I thought it would be more meaningful to upload the video in their memory. This video was for the Grand Finale of POE, and unexpectedly I even won the contest with the video. I am so thankful for all the positive feedback I received, although I lost a lot of points because the theme was too ambiguous haha The theme was 'Wheel of morality' and we were supposed to show a morale or life lesson through our video. I started with a very ambitious video that I have had in mind for a very long time, but I realized I wouldn't be able to finish it it time. We held auditions for this MEP in December 2010. Which means it has been over 5 years since then, and I am sure, about 99 percent of you thought it would never be finished. Well, here I am to prove you wrong! Looking back, there were many moments where I just wanted to drop this baby. I literally cringed every time someone mentioned the POTF MEP (#TheMepThatMustNotBeNamed) and having it completed really lifts a weight off my shoulders. On the other hand, I AM SO PROUD, EVERYONE! You have to make the right choice.' - Mr. NobodyWe're often faced with regrets of our past. What if we had taken the chances that we let pass by?Sometimes, we need a second chance in life. Sometimes a third or a fourth. And sometimes, no matter what we do, it's just not meant to be. The video was heavily influenced by the original music video to this song, as well as the movie 'Mr. Nobody' and my own experiences. I wished I had had more time to fix some of the things, but I am still happy as it is the first time for me editing anything of this scale. A day when we can be together, without being captive to our social status or clan!""Then, until that day comes, I wish I could sleep as this cicada does..."This amv was inspired by a Merlin MV (which I cannot find right now) with the same song and thematics. Without ever having watched Merlin, it actually made me cry, and I immediately had to think of Haru wo Daiteita, and the included story Fuyu no Semi. I had only read the manga back then, and sadly I was quite disappointed by the OVA of HWD (seriously, it's SO bad, it was so hard even just scraping a few scenes together for this video) but in the end I was rewarded by the beauty that is Fuyu no Semi. I cannot say I like the OVA more than the manga, but they did a fantastic job with the Animation. There aren't many stories that made me cry as much as Fuyu no Semi did. In all honesty - it's one of the most tragic love stories ever written. I hope you will enjoy this video, even though it's not supposed to be anything special. I just wanted to give that sad story some sort of hopefulness, I guess. Lastly, I want to dedicate this video to Kate and Pola. I had intended to make a happier video for you some day, but this will have to do for now. I hope you know that you're two special people to me, and that I am not mad at you in any way. It's just the feeling of sadness and frustration that pushed me to react the way I did. Even though we don't get to talk that much, I have always so much fun when I'm with you. Now, not many people will know this, but I once said I would never ever watch that Anime, because it is heartbreaking as fuck and I knew it would make me cry endlessly, and just - argh. But then I heard this song last week, and you know this moment, when you know two things would fit together perfectly? Well, it was like that with the song and this anime (which doesn't seem to make sense, because I hadn't seen it yet, but trust me, it does.)For those who don't know the Anime, a short recap: It is about a couple of childhood friends who lose their friend Menma, after an accident. They all blame themselves for her death, for different reasons, and start drifting apart afterwards. Menma's ghost comes back to tell them they must together fulfill her wish, so she can go to heaven. Sounds tragic? Yep, it is. I'm sorry I made it look like they do nothing but cry and run in that anime. They do other things, too! Occasionally....It was fun watching you all go crazy because I wouldn't tell you the Anime, haha. Even though I am sure you figured it out by now :3 I made this video for a few people which I am very happy and grateful to have in my life: Talz, Mero, Siny, Justin, Moo, Amy and Alicia. The past months have been really draining, and I cannot say how much your company keeps me from going insane. You are all so important to me, you cheer me up when I'm down, I know I can rely on you, and I thank you so wholeheartedly for just remembering me. I don't know what I would do without you. 「信義」Forever (Cloud & Tifa) xAnicsi 2012-05-22 | 'You gave me so much more than I could ever ask for...'Another old video of mine, but I have to say that I still love it, and I am really proud of it, too. I think it's story-wise the most complex video I have ever edited. Even though it sticks closely to the original story, I played a lot with colors and masking to manipulate the scenes so they'd fall together seamlessly. I hope you ilke it! Story: After Zack and Aerith died, Cloud is stuck in the past longing for a life with both of them. He isolates himself from the outside world and even his best friend Tifa. Both begin to walk a different path, fighting for the sake of their friends and the world that is still in danger.Cloud is searching for something that he can't seem to get a grasp of, but Tifa sees that he cannot fight anymore, that the revenge from when he killed Sepiroth does in no way make him feel better.She decides to fight in his place, putting her life on the line for the one man she loves... IMPORTANT: While the story is quite simple, the flow of the video is not xD You could say all the chorus take place after the verses and pre-chorus. I know it's sort of shitty, but it fell together like that ^^" Deal with it xp The storyline is actually as follows: -- Prologue:Cloud awakes after having a nightmare. When he sees that Tifa is still sleeping, he heads out, recalling his dream. -- verse 1 & pre chorus 1:Cloud unsettled, remembering Aerith and Zack, flashbacks have a black frame :D -- verse 2 & music part & pre chorus 2 :While Cloud is unable to fight Kadaj, Tifa faces Loz for the sake of Cloud. Cloud doesn't know anything of the fight, looking for something to finally settle down. While still feeling the pain of losing his friends, he thinks of his inability to fight and about Tifa who cared so much for him. Having suddenly a bad feeling he heads back to the church, where she's still struggling. -- Chorus 1:Tifa, defeated, screams out for Cloud, while he's on his way, trying to get there as fast as possible (It is evening by now, the sun is setting...). When he discovers her unconscious, he remembers their fight against Sephiroth. Being alone again afterwards he thinks about their relationship and Tifa being angry at him for blaming himself etc. blabla xD (It is night, means blue colours and stuff :D) -- Chorus 2:Cloud is still out, remembering what happened in the church after finding Tifa. He finally drives home, unsure what he should do. -- Bridge:Cloud arrives early in the morning and finds Tifa still sleeping, so fragile, yet strong in her desire to help him. Once again he recalls his fight against Sephiroth, whom he killed to avenge Zack and Aerith. He thinks of all Tifa has done for him and sees that he no longer can suppress his feelings. When she wakes up and everyone gathers in the church, he tells her that he is ready to fight because she reminded him of the true reason to fight: Not for revenge but to protect what is dear to him. The both of them head out to fight the demon. -- Chorus 3:Well, one last fight and happy end xD lol just as in the movie, only that Sephiroth is long since dead. 「信義」Never Enough | NANA amv | Big Contest 2012 xAnicsi 2012-05-11 | "'Never Enough' is a song about friendship, sisterhood, and the perils of loving someone that takes more than they could ever give"- Michael RunionWhat should I say? I guess the biggest inspiration for this video, as you may guess, was the song itself. The moment I heard it for the first time, I had already fallen in love with it.Watching the original music video along to it, was moving, heartbreaking, and yet so inspiring. I immediately had to think of NANA. There are some scenes that are so strikingly similar in the 'Never Enough' music video and the Anime, that it is almost surreal. There were many times while I was editing this, where I was thinking: 'That can't be, this is a too perfect match.'I had a lot of fun working on this, yet it was also quite stressful, due to me having to work 50 hour weeks for the past month. I struggled hard to finish it in time, and still having it the way I wanted it to be, and I think it was worth it in the end. I really wanted to touch people's heart with this video, as well as let some of my own experience flow into it. Nana's and Hachi's friendship is so strong, and yet it is never enough. It's an endless cycle of loving and hurting, when in fact all you want to do is be close to that person. And that, I think, is something very tragic, and worth every second of thought and time put into.I hope you'll take something with you of this video. Hold your friends close, and never forget they will be the ones walking though life with you. Share your feelings. Don't be afraid to make the first step to apologize. I'm so sorry I haven't been around much, but I'm so busy with work T__T Next Tuesday is actually a national Holiday here, and I have to work fml.Anyway, I re-watched this the other day and I thought I could upload it again. I'm a little proud of it because it was only me second MMV ever, so I like it, despite the song xD I'm not really a big cross-over fan, but this video was a challenge, as well as fun. I edited it back then for the Magic Manga Beta Battle Tournament, second round, and the theme was cross-over pairings. I picked Kyoko from Skip Beat and Usui from Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama. There is actually a story behind this. The girl is the same in all the pictures, even though she has different hair styles xD Kyoko is heartbroken after being taken advantage of quite a few times. Usui is in the same school as her and she catches his eye, she's so lively when she's with others. They become friends eventually, even though she doesn't do to well with boys, and he helps her to move on.However, when Usui makes a move on her, Kyoko is really shocked. She thought he had understood she didn't want any relationship, or even think about it. After the fight, they're both lonely and sad about not seeing each other. Kyoko recalls all the memories with Usui, and that in fact, he had never done anything to upset or betray her. One day, Usui waits for Kyoko outside her apartment. Uhm, so I was sneaky and didn't write in the title that it was my third MEP Collection. I worked really hard on this one, but I know that many people don't watch MEP Collections because they are so long and only have MEP parts anyway.So I wanted to make it a bit more interesting, especially when I found that I have like 70 MEP parts and only a few of them are already in my collections. This is different from my usual MEP collections, it's a fluent video without any interruptions. You can find ALL THE ANIME AND SONGS IN THE CREDITS, so please don't ask or mention any of them, I already got a strike for the collab I uploaded last.You will have to pause because the credits go really fast, but the video was already very long. CONCEPT: Basically I had a rather specific image in mind, especially for the intro, but also for the MEP in general. It has all got to do something with fighting, struggling, loss, trying to protect the ones you love while committing sins, because there is no other way. I won't go into detail with the intro, because it is really complex, and I am pretty sure nobody will be able to tell exactly what I had in mind, anyway haha. But I am really curious, so just go ahead and tell me what you think the concept of the video was. It's a basic thought, but it branches out into many strands of their own.You might have to rewatch the intro a couple of times with and without reading the text. But just when she finally believes to have found the right one, her 'Real Life Fairytale', and decides to confess to him, she sees him together with Sheryl. Feeling betrayed and lonesome, Ranka understands that she was never able to really get through to him, that her songs never reached Alto's heart. Even though he was the one, she wished to reach so badly. She decides to leave for the sake of her memories, leaving Alto behind. I don't really remember when I noticed just how perfect this song would be for the Anime. But the lines 'my hero crying, as we stood out there in the cold', 'that smile I lost, well I found somehow' - 'you still live on in my father's eyes' - just scream Tamaki and Haruhi and so I had to use it. I think the theme of the video is pretty obvious. Both, Tamaki and Haruhi, lost their mothers somehow, and they're struggling with this loss, each in their own way. Even though they are so different, there is this one thread that connects them, and in the end, they might be able to give each other comfort. I really love that aspect of the story. One of the reasons for me being a bit down is actually related to this video. It is dedicated to a very dear friend of mine, Patty, whose birthday it was yesterday. (yeah, only one day after me :3)I know that she will never watch this video, nor will I tell her that I made it for her. I don't even know why I am writing this down here, probably it is my way of expressing my feelings, since I know I won't be able to keep it all inside.When I heard this wonderful song for the first time, it felt like I was listening to our story. I cried countless tears over this song and this video, since it makes me realize how wrong everything went. I met Patty when I spent a school year abroad in Venezuela. We only got to spend some months together, but from the first moment on I felt like we had known each other our whole life, and I knew we shared a certain bond. She is one of the most important persons in my life, and I love her so much. As my best friend, my sister and my 'amiga de alma', my soulmate. During this time in Venezuela I felt like without her... I would simply disappear and I know she felt the same way about me. I had a really, really hard time there, but she gave me strength. I don't know what would have been if I hadn't met her back then.But everything comes to an end... The day I had to leave her on the airport... The day I returned to Germany and left her behind... was one of the worst days of my life. I had never cried that much in my whole life and it tore me apart.Almost three years have passed since this day. She also came to Germany for one year, and we spent our 18th birthday together. It was wonderful, and so good to see her again. But ever since then I have had the feeling that we are chasing each other, unable to let go. But on the other hand I know there's no way it could be like it was before. She lives on the other side of the world, this is not a distance you can cross easily. It hurts so much that I don't know when I will see her again. It hurts so much that I can't be part of her life anymore, at least not how it used to be. In the end... I am bound by the memories I have of the time we spent together. I haven't talked to her in months. I know, I should call her. I know, I should write her and let her know how much she means to me. 「信義」Growing Up Goes Slow xAnicsi 2011-12-04 | "I'm so sorry, it's not like me It's maturity that I'm lacking So don't, don't let me go Just let me know that growing up goes slow" ~*~ I didn't really think I'd muster up the energy to edit anything at all this year, but I've been in love with this song for a while, and I just felt like I needed to put it into... well, not words obviously, but a video. I am dedicating this to everyone who can relate to the truth this song holds. It is about the struggles of youth and adulthood, about growing up, but still being bound to home in a way. It's not like someday you're just an adult, it's a process that needs time, and I, at 21, often find myself thinking that I am not mature at all. There are moments where I'd just like to go back in time, where I am childish and moping around, and all these problems that are building up around me make me sick to my stomach, and I just wished I wasn't an adult already. That I could bask in the naiveté and security of childhood and push all my worries away, because - let's face it - our time as kids is the most untroubled we'll ever have. Even so, I know it is not possible, so I just allow myself to be sad and miserable when I need it, to be snappy to my family and act as the daughter that I am - because, the song names it, growing up goes slow. And nobody can expect us to make a change too fast. I chose the Anime, because, firstly, I am in love with it, and I can relate to it a lot and it will just forever be one of my favorite shows. Secondly, because it is mature and realistic, and the characters are all standing at that step between youth and adulthood. Thus, it is pretty much perfect. There isn't much of a concept behind it, other than the song, and how they all try to deal with their problems. Each of the girls has a different color for her memories, though. Anyway, I hope you like it, and it might give you some comfort when you feel like everything is just going too fast - you're not alone in thinking that, and one day you'll be grown up and struggle with different problems, but that will also be okay.
