A Big BEAR on the Mt Wilson Trail was Heading Towards Us! Peter Genovese 2023-07-01 | As we were almost done hiking our 14 mile roundtrip Mt Wilson Trail hike and with about a mile or so left until we were done, we came upon a big black bear (yes, a brown colored black bear) that was walking up the trail and blocking our path down. What a sight to see! I yelled at it to get off the trail and within a few seconds of me doing so, it actually got off the trail. I then lead the group of hikers that had been waiting, and made sure the coast was clear, as the saying goes.

2021 - Mt Whitney Hike Trailer Peter Genovese 2022-07-02 | This is a short compilation of videos, a trailer of sorts, of my solo day-hike of Mt Whitney on August 7th, 2021. The last 2 miles are notoriously the hardest due to being tired from hiking 9 miles at that point already and dealing with a lack of oxygen at 13,645 ft with about another 860 ft to go (peak is 14,505 ft and the tallest mountain peak in the continental United States of America). Did I end up suffering from AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) which is a common reason why many people turn back before they reach the peak? You'll find out once I release my full video of the hike!

I TOUCHED the Hollywood Sign in the Middle of the Day Peter Genovese 2021-10-30 | I was able to receive special permission from the LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) to hike up to the famous Hollywood sign from the front side where it is always illegal to hike from. I was fortunate enough to get this special permission to hike up to the sign on a beautiful day and as my friend Christine and I hiked up, we had a police helicopter fly by watching us but since we had prior approvals, we were cleared to continue the hike up to the sign. Almost Side Swiped by Insane Driver on Freeway / Highway Peter Genovese 2021-08-25 | As I was driving in moderate traffic heading west on the 101 North freeway, passing Balboa Blvd., I was aware enough to move out of the way of this driver who was flying through traffic in a very unsafe manner. He was so close that I’m sure he would have hit me had I not moved out of the way and had the awareness around me that it was safe for me to move over halfway into the lane to the right of me to avoid this guy hitting me.It pissed me off that he put me in danger so I attempted to pursue him for a few seconds until I quickly realized that I was going to put other drivers in danger with that action so I let it go, and let him go. Road to Mt Whitney - My Hiking Adventures Leading up to the Biggest Hike of my Life Peter Genovese 2021-08-03 | I've been hiking off and on for many years, but much more over the past few years. I stepped up my hiking game and got serious in the gym which ultimately lead me to the decision in March (2021) to go for the highest peak in the lower 48 states; Mt Whitney (near Lone Pine, CA).I wanted a day pass and was able to secure one for August 7th, 2021. From the time I've uploaded this video today, that hike is 5 days from now.This video showcases highlights from various hikes I've done over the past few years, leading up to this big adventure. Well, as I pull over, the girl behind me who I was mad at for driving so close, slams on her breaks and then a 3rd party, the Mercedes G Wagon, slams into her which then sends her car slamming into me from behind. The guy in the G Wagon must have been texting and not paying attention to the sudden slow down.After more than a year dealing with the insurance companies for both parties that were behind me, my brother and I eventually came to an agreement on a settlement.

Peter Genovese 2020-11-22 | I was at the Loew’s hardware store in Northridge, CA and as I was walking out to my car, I noticed black smoke in the night sky (I’m hyper vigilant, I can’t help it!) and so I drove across the street and behind the 24 Hour Fitness building that was there to check it out and see if anyone was in danger.I came upon a homeless encampment next to the train tracks that was fully engulfed in fire and a woman screaming right at the start of the video. As I get closer, several of the homeless were frantically trying to grab what they could. No one was there yet when I arrived aside from one security guard who was calling the fire department.
Surprise Birthday Visit to Mom after 8 Months - Look how Shocked She Was! She had NO idea we were coming. I called my older brother who lives near my Mom and had him join us for the surprise.The shock and surprise on her face when she first saw us was priceless. Mt Baldy - Hiking to the Summit - 10,064 ft Peter Genovese 2018-01-08 | I decided to go big with my first hike of 2018 by hiking to the tallest mountain (10,064 ft) in Los Angeles county, Mt Baldy.To date, this is the highest mountain, in terms of elevation, that I've summited. My Mt Wilson hike was more in terms of elevation gain (4700 ft) while this Mt Baldy hike was about 4000 ft elevation gain.I hiked a total of about 14 miles on this Baldy hike in 6 hours and 30 mins.

It looked like they were just practicing some mountain landings.

I moved it out of the parking lot where we saw it so that it would get run over.I also had to avoid a bee swarm, saw many lizards, a large beehive, and a coyote on our way back to the trailhead. The hike up to the top of the damn was well worth it as there was a beautiful view of Lake Ramona with hardly anyone around.
