Once in operation later this year Hywind Tampen will deliver power to the Snorre and Gullfaks oil fields, and Equinor will operate near half of the world’s floating wind capacity. Now the first of 11 turbines, Karoline, has arrived at the field after a rather informal, energetic, alcohol-free sparkling cider-filled naming ceremony led by graduate Karoline Rivero Bernacki.Hywind Tampen – Assembly of the world’s largest floating wind farmEquinor2022-05-12 | Hywind Tampen is an 94.6 MW floating wind power project developed to provide electricity for the Snorre and Gullfaks oil fields in the Norwegian North Sea. It will be the world’s first wind farm to power offshore oil and gas platforms, reducing CO2-emissions by 100 000 tonnes annually from each field.
Once in operation it will also be the world’s largest floating offshore wind farm and an essential step in industrialising solutions and reducing costs for future offshore wind power projects.
Hywind Tampen will be a test bed for further development of floating wind, exploring the use of new and larger turbines, installations methods, simplified moorings, concrete substructures and integration between gas and wind power generation systems. It consists of 11 turbines with a capacity of 8.6 MW each, based on one of Equinor’s floating offshore wind technologies, Hywind.
In the spring of 2022, we’re assembling the 11 turbines at #Wergeland base in Gulen, on the Norwegian west coast. The crane from #Mammoet, which does all the heavy lifting, is the largest land-based crane operating in Norway. The tower sections, nacelles and blades are delivered by #Siemensgamesa, while the concrete substructures are constructed by #AkerSolutions.Johan Castberg arrivalEquinor2022-05-06 | It’s quite a sight when giants meet! 8 April 2022 the Johan Castberg Floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) arrived Norway from #Sembcorp Marine in Singapore on board the world’s largest transport vessel, Boka Vanguard owned by #Boskalis. The FPSO is 313 meters long, about the lenght of three football fields, and has a production capacity of 190 000 barrels per day. After float of the FPSO was towed to #AkerSolutions at Stord, and shortly after the world’s largest crane heavy lift vessel, Sleipnir owned by #Heerema Marine Contactors (HMC) arrived to install the lower part of the turret, delivered by #SBM and #Dubai Drydocks.
During the summer of 2022 the process modules, constructed in Egersund, Stord, Verdal, Sandnessjøen and Hammerfest in Norway will be installed by Gulliver from #Scaldis. The future is now - steel cut for Northern Lights project at StordEquinor2022-04-27 | The Northern Lights project is progressing. Northern Lights will transport CO₂ from industrial customers by ship to Øygarden on the Norwegian west coast. Here it will be stored temporarily before it is transported via pipeline for permanent storage in a reservoir 2500 metres below the seabed.
On 26 April we cut the first steel at #AkerSolutions Stord for what will become the pipe rack between the ships and the storage tanks.
Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is an important technology to reduce emissions, and the Northern Lights project is part of the Norwegian full-scale CCS project Longship.
#NorthernLights is owned by Equinor, #Shell and #TotalEnergies.Njord A back on the fieldEquinor2022-04-27 | The Njord A platform is yet again safely anchored on the Njord field.
