Alexis PhoenixHumility I'm learning has less to do with counting yourself out or not giving yourself enough credit. It's understanding that even at your best and most knowledgeable, you're still a human being on this Earth trying to figure out what the hell is going on. It's messy and difficult. You're going to say the wrong things or be misinterpreted and be terrified. You can also be right for one moment and one existence and wrong for another. It's a whole bunch of mess, but the work is showing up.
The work is being okay with having the smallest impact that only really touches one person. The work is making sure you're okay enough to make it to the next day. The work is work but that's deal that we make as people.

I'll see yall in 2025Your elitism is eating your progressive politics aliveAlexis Phoenix2024-11-17 | This is a short compilation of videos I made on tiktok over the past few days on tiktok and, of course, isn't a fully polished researched and scripted selection of videos but it has been plaguing me as of late because I understand where these issues were birth from and they have so much nuance but it's like inherently how can you not feel this type of language clash with your spoken politics?
The picture I'm referring to was actually in the 3rd video, which is actually Oklahoma and Massachusetts. My point still stands. It's actually really disturbing to see the alleged party of the people or people who claim to be progressive but will spit in the eye of everyone they think is beneath them. They're very proud when it comes to speaking about how their education makes them so much better than the uneducated people in the south or the working class people in their neighborhood who don't have that same education without any critical analysis of why they are in the positions they're in and why others aren't.
I'm not talking out of my ass either, I had to confront this in myself as well. If I say my ideals are progressive and I actually care about poor and disenfranchised people, what does that mean? Obviously, there's so much nuance in this conversation that can't be addressed in a 2 minute video. Speaking on how social systems in different environments, but speaking broadly if you aren't able to speak to the people who are uneducated or you feel are hopeless then what are you doing other than sitting in an elitist echo-chamber reminding each other how much better you are than other people while simultaneously saying you care the most about peoplePerceptions Of Self: Gathering My Soul Back TogetherAlexis Phoenix2024-05-23 | I was rewatching my tiktoks over these past few months of being unemployed and I thought about the various things I was telling other people, but also I was really telling myself. I really needed the words when I spoke them and I needed to be reminded of them again and I just had the pieces I need to put together. Sometimes growth is trusting yourself enough to believe the words you say
Letter To My 13 Year Old Self- Laufey "I'm so sorry that they pick you last Try to say your foreign name and laugh I know that you feel loud, so different from the crowd Of big blue eyes, and long blonde hair, and boys that stare But, baby, know that You'll grow up And grow so tough and charm them"
Remember The Rain- Kadhja Bonet "I've got remarks that torn us all apart I'm still tryna put back the pieces to my heart"
Build Me Up- Cleo Sol "Forgive me, I'm not what you want me to be But I was raised under a roof of unfinished dreams How to love, how to trust without a fight Finally, learning how to live my own life"
FEAR- Kendrick Lamar "I'm talkin' fear, fear of losin' creativity I'm talkin' fear, fear of missin' out on you and me I'm talkin' fear, fear of losin' loyalty from pride 'Cause my DNA won't let me involve in the light of God I'm talkin' fear, fear that my humbleness is gone I'm talkin' fear, fear that love ain't livin' here no more I'm talkin' fear, fear that it's wickedness or weakness Fear, whatever it is, both is distinctive"
Fence- Son Lux, Moses Sumney "In the morning light, you look Disappointed like You finally see me While you were sleeping, I Built a fortress 'round the porch outside As long as you stay wrapped inside Don't have to be mean The sky, still borderless You could still access your free If you just look up at it How you once looked at me"
Godspeed- Frank Ocean "I let go of my claim on you, it's a free world You look down on where you came from sometimes But you'll have this place to call home, always"
Atoll- Nai Palm When the damn thing breaks I'll be there to take you home When the damn thing breaks I'll be there to take your pulse"
Bless Me- Moses Sumney "You must be an angel Your conscience is clean Why would you soil yourself With a monster like me? If the good lord sent ya The good lord can take ya back I hope when he comes for you You illuminate the path"
My Song- Labi Siffre "This is my song And no one can make it a lie It's been so long Since someone Could make me cry"
Is this a ploy to put yall on to Moses Sumney? Maybe, but this is a very Moses Sumney poem. If you made it all the way down here, you should comment a duck emoji, Just for fun, you'll be in the not-so-secret duck club. Doesn't matter which duck emoji.
This is my big show of affection to Mark Lee apparently he likes those idk I'm also doing it for all the kids who were writing gay emo poetry in their high school english classes. we see each otherK-Hiphop (currently) Is Not Going To LastAlexis Phoenix2023-12-28 | This is a short video that I made on tiktok that address the current state of K-hiphop and why the culture is dying. In this video a question the responsibly of a non-black artist participating in black art without reconciling with their own anti-blackness and the anti-blackness in their listeners and cultures around them. This is not about taking hip-hop away from people who are not black or does not share the black experience, but asks can you hold the responsibility of performing an art derived from the systematic oppression of a people you don't belong to?I need debates with integrityAlexis Phoenix2023-12-20 | ...Theyre trying to ban face coverings and hoods in AtlantaAlexis Phoenix2023-12-05 | ...Your content is worth it, simply because its yoursAlexis Phoenix2023-12-05 | ...What Do Idols Own: A Chungha Analysis and The Workings of CapitalismAlexis Phoenix2023-11-27 | This is a compilation of Tiktoks that I made in regards to the situation that happened with Chungha and her old company as well as the predatory nature of Kpop companies in general and what it means to "own" your body when your body is the product being consumed. This started a conversation on the clock app, so I thought I would compile all the videos I made and put it on here as well.
Some of the criticism I have gotten has been "they just need to be smarter" or " that's just what comes with being an entertainer" and I think that's horse crap. Just because that is the norm doesn't make it okay nor does it mean something can't be changed. Also you cannot outsmart a system that is designed for you to fail. It's deeper than kpop y'all.
Also I know the color grading on these video is questionable, bare with me. I love you dearlySurviving Kpop: Anti-Delulu Starter PackAlexis Phoenix2023-10-30 | Are you currently despairing about a kpop member and feel like you're going crazy? Or feel your heart about to burst because you love this person you don't know even though it feels like you know them so deeply? I wrote this essay and made this video for you. Just sit back, craft your ear to my voice and let me take you on a journey of introspection.
For the record I don't think Mark is easy to pull. Controversial opinion I'm sure
