Mostly known for its giant mall, Potomac Mills, Woodbridge is a typical suburb in many ways. Across the street from the Mall is Garfield high school where a traveling Carnival has set up shop in its parking lot on Easter Weekend. We decided this would make a great location to film the "Devil's Night" video. When we arrived the vibe was off, apropos for a carnival I suppose. A large police presence — intended to provide security and comfort for the public — did the opposite, and had the large crowds seemingly on edge. It was as if they knew something was about to happen — we just didn’t know what. We went about our business gathering footage, doing our best to enjoy the creepy carnival scene. It was after we wrapped up and headed back to the parking area when we heard the gun shots.At first they sounded like fireworks but as people began running for cover we knew otherwise. It was five or six shots in total — it sounded like they came from a 22 or another small caliber firearm.As we drove out of the scene we could see a young women had been shot in the abdomen. The police on site were helping her; later we found out she was taken by helicopter to a hospital for treatment. The suspects are still at large. We hope she pulls through. We went out that night in search of dark and eerie scenes at a local carnival. In the end, we learned that sometimes the universe gives you more than what you really want.
