00:00 - Intro
02:29 - X-Cure
1. Farm to 160g, charge up a key glitch during the process
2. Go to the weapon shop in Topple once you're done farming
3. Store the shopkeeper from the weapon shop.
4. Walk to one of the two Topple women, and purchase an X-Cure from them (I chose to go around to the bottom-left one for safety reasons).
06:07 - Iflyte
1. Once you leave Topple, head left and kill the fused goblin (it will be the one that's moving more erratically).
2. Reload the screen and do key glitch to store the goblin, then re-enter Topple
3. Get the goblin-woman to walk into you
* This updates the woman's properties and gives her the goblin's contact damage. Without this, she wouldn't damage you and would instead break out of her infinite walk later on.
4. Move to a full tile from the top edge of the screen, then perform key glitch
* Be careful when mashing for the key glitch here, as it will most likely affect your count for step 5
* The woman will need to get stuck infinitely walking for this strat to work. If she doesn't cooperate, kill her and redo the setup from the start of this segment.
5. Count 194 B presses
6. Stand in the exact spot shown in the run (shown at 7 : 35) and face any direction except left, then get bumped by the goblin-woman (you will get sent to the right).
* facing left will knock you upwards instead
7. Pull up the pause menu a couple of times until your knockback ends, you should end up directly above the bridge.
* Menu pulls can be used reduce your knockback, as is the case here
* All the menu pulls in the following steps set up your invulnerability timer to run out as you step onto the warp tile, allowing you to perform snowmanless.
8. Buffer an up press when closing the menu, pull up the menu again as soon as you begin walking
9. Buffer a down press when closing the menu, pull up the menu again as soon as you begin walking
10. Walk down onto the warp tile, make sure to stop as soon as you're fully on top of it
11. Move up half a tile
12. Smack the goblin-woman without moving from the warp tile, start holding down during your sword swing
13. Walk down to the next screen and activate key glitch by mash the remaining B press(es) on the way
* This key glitch will fuse the dying NPC onto Iflyte. The amount of time you get to perform drôle menu varies slightly depending on how long it takes for the explosion to begin
* If you react fast enough when NPC vanishes, you can do step 14 before entering the boss room. This will give you a little bit of extra time to get drôle menu.
14. As soon as the boss spawns in, pull up the item menu and equip the X-cure
15. Get Drôle Menu

It's almost certainly faster to get projectile storage on J2 to skip this fight. I opted not to do it just to guarantee that this run finished.

This route was drafted after the discovery that projectile storage could be activated on regular enemies. It became speedrun-viable after the discovery of a rather complicated addition to storage involving temporary chocobo.

09:27 - Sword Warp
10:14 - Sanctuary of Mana
10:59 - Julius 1
12:01 - Projectile Storage
The full sequence for projectile storage goes as follows:
1. Begin with an escape from the arena using the Julius clone's movement, then go to one of the rooms adjacent to the snake/shadow zero room.
2. Store Chocobo using key glitch, then walk into the snake/shadow zero room before he reappears. Chocobo will get fused with a snake. Walk back to Julius's arena. Julius will have a glitched object lodged inside him which needs to be destroyed.
3. Hit the glitched object with your sword a couple of times to destroy it. It will now become an even more glitched object? (I'm not entirely sure if it's even an object at this point)
NOTE: Since Chocobo normally wouldn't be destroyable if fused with Julius directly, we needed to fuse him with the snake first (any enemy we can damage works for this).
4. Perform Key glitch on the garbled mess.
NOTE: it is critical to get key glitch while the boss is in a state where he fires projectiles -- in J2's case, it's when he is floating around with his legs tucked in.
5. Perform Key glitch on the garbled mess a second time. The same restriction applies as with the first time.
NOTE: It seems that it's possible for the glitch to work while Julius is diving as long as any of his projectiles are still on screen.
6. Confirm that you have projectile storage. the visual cue is that one of the lightning bolts that Julius shoots (probably the left one) will instantly vanish instead of moving.
7. Leave the arena and go to the Sanctuary of Mana. You will need to do a fully charged sword attack to remove airship mode.
All objects that are affected by key glitch will now be treated as a projectile, while retaining their original properties. This does mean that you can still interact with them (provided they don't just blink out of existence).
13:32 - Julius 3
Julius is a projectile, projectiles get deleted when they collide with things.

Streamlined the process of moving the egg to Topple. I realized that you don't need to reload the egg room at all, so you could do one continuous mash to warp and reload the egg.
You need to wait for the egg to "settle" into place, it will visibly shift left a couple of pixels when it fully warps back onscreen
During my first bit of testing I must have screen transitioned before it settled, which is why I thought the room reload was a necessary step
05:42 - Axe
08:10 - Snowfield
I dismount slightly before entering the cave here to begin charging the Will bar sooner. Optimally this would be done as soon as possible, but enemy spawns make that difficult to do efficiently.
09:25 - Sword Warp
I began loading the room from below to encourage the enemies to drift downwards instead of upwards.
10:36 - Sanctuary of Mana
The level grind is mostly skipped, instead I fight a couple of elephants on the way.

I decided to add bit of quantum entanglement and over 1500 B button presses to the mix
00:00 - Intro
02:35 - Chocobo
Key glitch is used a grand total of 4 times (1024 B presses) to move the egg to Topple and get it into a state that can be interacted with. I got unlucky with the key glitch on villager at the start of the sequence, so I had to do one extra.
06:06 - Axe
Mandatory to farm 150g to purchase the battleaxe, key glitch is used again (another 256 B presses) to skip Bogard and the subsequent movement
08:40 - Snowfield
Since the Chocobo running across the screen isn't real, I save and reload to be able to ride him. the Axe is used to cut down the trees to enter the snowfield, its only use in the run. Chocobo is useful in this segment because he ignores enemies completely.
09:56 - Sword Warp
This sword warp room is terrible.
10:46 - Excalibur
Chocobo once again proves his usefulness. Instead of performing snowmanless, you get to just ignore the warp tile and dismount on the next screen to enter the Mana Sanctuary.
11:26 - Level grind
Since this route fights all three forms of Julius, a farm in this section is pretty much mandatory.
15:50 - Julius 1
I enter the cutscene while riding Chocobo, this bugs the game out a little bit.
The game assumes that I entered the battle as Sumo. once the fight begins, it sees that I'm supposed to be riding a chocobo. it decides to pull in the closest object as my mount, in this case it happens to be Julius. This essentialy fuses Sumo, Chocobo, and Julius together.
I remain in this partially fused state until I either walk to another screen, or use a fully charged sword attack
I need to dismount Chocobo to end phase 1, since I'm currently one of the Julius clones (or maybe the real one)
14:07 - Julius 2
I need to remount Chocobo to end phase 1, since I'm once again part of the greater Julius
15:11 - Julius 3
I want to separate from Julius at this point for a few reasons:
1. I want to regain control of my character, fighting for control of the character is especially annoying during this phase, and it runs the risk of Julius teleporting to the waterfall on either side (for some reason these count valid ground), effectively softlocking the fight.
2. I need to avoid having to charge my Will bar at the very end of the fight
3. The credits lock up after a bit. The game does count as being beaten, but I prefer having the full ending sequence play out.
To escape the arena and separate from Julius I wait until Julius (me) starts walking on his own. his walk gives airship mode for its duration, which is long enough to walk down the edge of the screen.
I perform one final key glitch here, just for fun

Introducing the brand-new Key glitch. If you mash the B button with certain items equipped, it has a chance to unload objects. You can then change rooms while objects are unloaded to stack object behaviors onto each other. If you spam B you can continuously respawn and unload the phantom object. this second effect can be used to glitch out the screen scroll.
00:00 - Intro
02:37 - Kett's
A visit to Topple is necessary to pick up the key at the very first shop.
Set up the glitch two screens to the right of where you meet Girl/Fuji, a crowded room seems preferable.
Once you're set up, mash the B button until you see a goblin vanish.
Reload the goblin by mashing the B button some more.
scroll the right screen from the top strip, then walk left to screen wrap. You need walkable tiles from OOB to reach the other side.
06:50 - Cave of Marsh
Because Bogard's cabin is skipped, the Mattock needs to be farmed from either the land leeches or slimes (the mage is necessary for the latter).

an X-cure is immediately purchased from Watts to set up for the drôle menu bug. If Man was recruited to help in Cave of Marsh, a save is strongly advised after the purchase, since loading any save will revert the companion to Man instead of Watts.
18:08 - Drôle menu bug
X-CURE MUST BE SET TO THE ITEM SLOT WHILE PERFORMING THE GLITCH
This is where the magic happens, I pull up the status menu (main menu works as well) on the last frame of the explosion to activate the drôle menu bug. once the glitch is active I modify my item slot from the X-cure to a blank item (full sequence: X-cure195, Heal195, blank, *blank*), which allows Boy to become invincible and ignore collisions.
18:41 - Julius
Invulnerability needs to be reapplied after the first cutscene, and again after J2.
23:11 - Credits
I did a save-reload after J2 to fix the credits. If J3 is killed immediately the credits will softlock after running for a bit.
