No Spark Issue on a Kohler Courage Engine Grampies Workshop 2023-07-25 | My Estate Car is not working – Sell all your Stocks and Bonds!!!Well it's not really the 'end of the world' but I have to say, it sure is an annoyance. I bought this old ride on mower a while ago and re-worked it to become a daily driver for me to get around the property here at the lake. I use it all the time and it sure is nice not having to walk down the hill to the lake, or back up the hill too. Especially with my knees being half wore out and half not working!! LOLThe Estate Car was working great and then one day it wouldn't start. I tried everything but I couldn't get it to start and I had to walk back up the hill to the camp!! I was not happy!!! The next day it started like nothing ever happened. But then it wouldn't start again the other day and so I figured I better get it back in the shop and have a look see.So in this video I try and diagnose why it won't start. The first thing I found was 'no spark' Hey, I figured this is going to be easy. But there I go thinking again. At the end of the day I couldn't find anything wrong. Intermittent faults are bears to try and track down. I guess I'll have to wait until another day to chase this one. A day when the fault comes back, and it will !!If anyone has any ideas what might be causing my Estate Car not to start please let me know in the comments. Installing Fascia Boards Part 11 Grampies Workshop 2023-07-21 | I have progressed to the point where I can install the Fascia Boards on the Boat House so let's go!!I spend some time planning the cuts to the fascia boards. I did this for a couple of reasons; 1 – I have a phobia about cutting wood and making a wrong cut!!!2 – the fascia boards were expensive and I don't want to waste any wood!!!But once I get the cuts figured out this job went pretty smooth. A bit of an issue fitting the front fascia under the drip edge, but other than that, I was happy with this project and the results.Let me know what your thoughts are on it. Do you think the fascia boards are too wide? The boat house build is going pretty good all things considered. It's taking a lot of time, but that's because I only work about 2 or 3 hours a day now!! Soffits Lets Put Some Up Part 10 Grampies Workshop 2023-07-18 | Progress is continuing on the Boat House Rebuild. Today I'm putting up the soffits!!!Have a look as I remove some of the old soffit pieces and then establish a nailing line for the new soffits. Then I install some 2 X 2 nailer pieces to make a ledge.Of course the soffit isn't the same width the whole length but it's something I can work with. The reason for the width differences is mainly traced back to the front wall of the boat house not being square!! :-(After I cut the new piece of soffit I cut and install a soffit vent with a screen backing to help keep unwanted bugs and stinging insects out!!Then I install the soffit. It didn't turn out too bad really. I didn't show putting on all the pieces. It was pretty repetitive. I did run into some issues doing the front soffit as I had to trim it to fit around the door casing. The boat house build is going pretty good all things considered. Samsung Galaxy Tab A Battery Change Grampies Workshop 2023-07-14 | Here's an interesting project!! I have never tackled one like this before.Let's change the battery in a Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablet!!!Have a look and see how I go about removing the back from the tablet. A little fussy but I got it. Then I move onto trying to remove the battery. Man it was stuck in there pretty good. Putting the Gable End on the Boat House Part 9 Grampies Workshop 2023-07-11 | Well it's time to fish or cut bait!! Let's do this!!I have a plan on how to put the grooves in the new sheathing and I have a hole in the gable of the boat house. Only one thing left to do, put a gable end on the boat house!!In this video, I don't show it, but I took extra time to make sure I wouldn't make a mistake when cutting the sheathing and guess what? I made a mistake with the very first cut!! Oh well.After that I ended up being pretty lucky because the other pieces I cut, except for some minor tweaking, all were cut correctly!! Yeah for me eh!!I got all the pieces of gable installed. The grooves lined up and they don't look too bad either. Husqvarna Mower Deck Repairs Grampies Workshop 2023-07-07 | The Husqvarna YTH21K42 Lawn Tractor needs attention!! There's trouble on the Mower Deck!!!After Hurricane Fiona went through there was lots and lots of branches, sticks and brush all over the property. I never did go to work and clan that mess up off the lawn. So when I was mowing with the lawn tractor I mowed over all this and some times it got chipped up pretty good, but at least one time the mower took a hard hit. Well I should have known better as the broke one of the mower deck spindles.I ordered a new one from Amazon. Making New Sheathing Groovy Man Grampies Workshop 2023-07-04 | I'm getting ready to replace the sheathing on the lakeside gable end of the boat house and I have a problem!!!I can't get an exact match for the original sheathing that was on the boat house but I was able to get some that was close.The new sheathing I got was about the same as the old stuff, but it has no vertical grooves in it. So guess what? I'm going to put vertical grooves in it.I'm going to make the new sheathing groovy man!!!Have a look as I do some experimenting to try and find out how I can best match the old grooves. I ended up using my router for the job. The results are not as good as I had hoped for but from a distance they aren't too bad. Check them out and let me know what you think. Whos Up for Sheathing & Shingling Grampies Workshop 2023-06-30 | Sheathing and Shingling. Sounds like a Law Firm eh, but it's not!! It's hard work!!!This week I get the sheathing on the roof. And after some 'creative' adjustments the sheathing went on pretty good. I put it up my myself but used a system where by I could pull the sheets up onto the roof. It took some time to set up but then it went pretty easy really!!Then the really fun part!! The shingles. I swore I would never do shingles again, but that was 4 roofs ago!! LOL Thankfully, my son Chris came out and more or less did the job alone. I tried to help but was more in his way than anything else!!It's nice to finally get the roof on the boat house again. Now to move onto finishing the gable end and then the soffits and fascia and trim boards. Putting Rafters on the Boat House - Part 6 Grampies Workshop 2023-06-27 | It's taken a long time to get to this point, but here we are. Let's get some rafters on this puppy!!My sons and I have spent a lot of time trying to get the boat house back in condition to receive a new roof. Well today is a big day in that journey.In this video I make the bird mouths bigger on the rafters and guess what? Then I put up the 1st one on the gable end facing the lake. And it fit just about perfect!! Then my son Chris came out to the camp to help me with the rest of them.Between Chris and I we were able to get all the rafters up and secured before the rain got too heavy! Now we wait for a day when it's not raining too hard and the sheathing will go on and then the shingles and then the trim boards and then paint and, holy cow, we're finished!! I know I can Make this Better Grampies Workshop 2023-06-23 | I know I can make this better!! So let's try and one more time to get the Boat House square and true!!I kind of pull out all the stops on this try. I use the come-a-longs (with the new anchor points) and the Massey GC2300 (with the home made logging winch) and I even beat on the side of the building with a 5 pound hammer!!And you know what? Not much improvement seen!! :-( Ugh!!But it is a little bit more square. I couldn't get the lake side wall as plumb as I wanted, but I think it'll be alright. This was a challenge from the giddy up go, but I really wanted to try and get a good understanding of what and why the building wouldn't come back to square and true. Being Well Anchored is Important in LIfe Grampies Workshop 2023-06-20 | To get to someplace important, we need to be well anchored!!Words to live my I suppose. In my case I wanted to get to a more square boat house and in order to that I certainly did need to be well anchored!!I was trying to “re-rack” the wall so it would be more square. Notice I didn't say 'square'. I think a wall being square is a myth!! I was using my come-a-longs to try and re-rack the wall and the anchor point I was using was not too good. In fact it pulled out and off the wall twice. So I decided I needed some better means for anchoring the chains and making a pull.Have a look at what I made to be better able to secure a chain or a hook to a point where I wanted to pull from, yes an anchor point!! LOL These 'anchors' could have been made from heavier metal, but this was all I had. They seem to work pretty good too. But the story doesn't end well. I couldn't get the wall to 'square up'. And without removing the exterior wall panels I don't think I can get the wall back to 'square' any better than what it is, Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoyed the video. Lets Change Our Winter Tires Grampies Workshop 2023-06-16 | Here's a project I haven't done in a long while!! Let's change our winter tires!!When I bought this car, an 2018 Escape, I bought a total maintenance package with it. My idea here was to try and get the operational costs of my car to be constant as I can have it. So aside from gas every week, the monthly expenditure for my vehicle is unchanging and won't change until the maintenance package expires.This maintenance package was pricey I suppose, but since I bought my Escape I have had front end work done, many flat tires repaired and my tires rotated and changed from summer to winter and vice versa. Both front and rear brakes repaired and a rear strut replaced, plus the engine was bad and had to be replaced. And I have had regular maintenance and oil changes completed on time and by the dealer. And all this work didn't cost me anything. So I think I made out OK.But now my maintenance package has expired so here I am changing my winter tires. I haven't done this in a long time, so have a look at how I made out. Plumbing the Boat House Grampies Workshop 2023-06-13 | The Boat House rebuild continues and today I try and get the building a little bit more plumb in preparation for the roof rafters and sheathing.The boys did a fine job last weekend getting the front wall back in place. But the corners of the building aren't plumb. It's been my experience that if you start off with a building that isn't square or plumb, the roof will be pretty messed up too!!So I try and get the building a bit more square and try to get it as plumb as I can. The poor boat house has suffered a lot of racking and twisting from the tree that fell on it and then sitting like that for so long didn't help either.I did manage to get it a bit more plumb, square and true, but it's far from where I would like it to be. Not too sure if more work could help it or not. We'll see I guess.Let me know what you think. Have you ever tried to re-square and re-plumb a building? Grease Gun Mod Grampies Workshop 2023-06-09 | I have a problem every time I use my grease gun. Today I address that problem!!!Every time I use my grease gun I end up with this problem. The problem is the gun is hard to hold and the grease coupler is hard to hold and then it's hard to pump the gun. I end up with grease every where, and it makes me cross.So the other day it was raining and I couldn't work on the boat house so I was doing some maintenance on the Estate Car. The grease gun problem reared it's ugly head again and I decided to do something about it.My solution was to make a little foot of sorts, to support the grease gun in a stable position. This way I could still hold the grease coupelr on the fitting and still be able to manage the gun in a half ways decent position to pump it and get the fitting greased.This didn't work out quite as good as I was expecting, but I can't expect all my brilliant ideas to be earth shattering eh!! Making Hybrid Roof Rafters Grampies Workshop 2023-06-06 | The Boat House Rebuild is progressing. It's time to make the Roof Rafters.I have decided to make a hybrid style roof rafter. Instead of cutting rafters and fitting them against a ridge board, I will just butt the peak cuts of the rafter boards together and support them with gussets on each side.Logan and I spent some time the other day cutting out the roof rafter boards. In this video I cut the bird's mouths and then make the gussets. Then I take the rafters down to the boat house and assemble one and try it on the roof.I was very happy to see how well it fit. So now I can finish making the rest of the hybrid rafters so the next time the boys are out they can install them.The boat house is starting to come together and it'll soon be back to it's old self!!Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoyed the video. Rebuilding the Boat Hosue Part 1 Grampies Workshop 2023-06-02 | It's time to start rebuilding the Boat House!!I have my 3 sons, Gerry, Chris and Derek and Derek's oldest boy Logan, all at the lake today. A great crew and they tackle the first step in the boat house rebuild – taking the roof off.But to start off they take the boat rack off the back of the boat house so they can get easier access to the roof.Then they peel the roof sheathing and take the roof rafters off.Then the problem!! The front wall of the boat house won't sit back down on the floor properly. We thought that once the roof came off the front wall would push back in place and all would be dandy, but this wall is being stubborn. No way will it sit down tight to the floor.After a lot of head scratching and the use of some 'persuasion' they do finally get the wall back in place. Then they discover the wall isn't plumb. But that's when the Mighty Massey comes into play. They use it to push against the opposite wall and 'voila' the walls are plumb and for the most part square and true!!A great job done you guys!! And let's not forget all the work Logan did. He was busy all day pulling nails and sorting out the pieces being removed and then he helped me as we started to make the roof rafters. Loader Forks Improvement Mod Grampies Workshop 2023-05-26 | What is the problem with Grampie's Workshop bucket and forks? This video will answer that head scratching question!!!Check the video to discover what is the problem with the bucket and shop made forks, or at least what the problem is that I was addressing today. I want to congratulate and acknowledge Gator from 'Gator's World' (youtube.com/@gatorsworld). Even though this wasn't a competition or contest of any kind, Gator nailed what the problem was. Atta boy Gator. You can't get much past him for sure!!Well the problem was; every time I pick up a log I have to set the bucket on grade to push the forks under the log. While doing this the bucket will most often pick up gravel, dirt, or what ever is there. Then when I unload the log on the pile, all the dirt and gravel falls out of the bucket and onto the log pile. This is a real pain when it comes time to saw the logs. Gravel is everywhere and you can't help but hit it with the saw and that does in the chain pretty quick.So in this video I try a wooden 'moldboard' of sorts to prevent the debris from getting into the bucket as I pick up a log. And as a bonus, even if I do still get gravel in the bucket, when I dump the load off the forks, the 'moldboard' will hold that gravel in the bucket and prevent it from spilling out onto the log pile!! Using the Shop Made Logging Winch Grampies Workshop 2023-05-23 | So check out my shop made logging winch in action!!!It works pretty good for what I want. I don't have to make any long pulls and none are all that heavy either, so this winch is just the ticket for me.I also have some forks on my loader bucket that I made. I made these forks especially for picking up logs. But there is a problem with them. I have a solution and I will make a video about that solution soon. Hurricane Fiona Clean Up Update Grampies Workshop 2023-05-19 | Last September Hurricane Fiona blew through and she sure left her mark here at the camp.Nannie and I were sure blessed that we escaped serious injury and damage. The only major damage done was to the boat house. But it could have been much worse. Nannie and I weren't hurt and the camp wasn't disturbed at all. Thank you Lord for the blessings given!!Since then we have been slowly but surely making gains on cleaning up the mess. We have had trees cut and removed off buildings, then the trees on the property cut and then the stumps and brush chipped and/or removed.This video is a kind of review of all that we have done so far.The clean up is far from finished but it certainly is coming along. A Shop Made Logging Winch Part 2 Grampies Workshop 2023-05-16 | Wow!! This is a long video today. I hope you can watch though to see how the logging winch turned out!!!I have to say I had some 'issues'. The winch cable fouled up on me and I had to change it. The snigging chain was too long. The winch controller didn't get wired up the way I first thought I would do it. But when the old lady sang, the winch did do the job!!I have been using the winch for a few days now and it really is helping a lot. Sure makes getting the logs a lot easier. My biggest disappointment though is with the speed of the winch. It is dog slow to say the least. But I guess I kind of expected that. A Shop Made Logging Winch Part 1 Grampies Workshop 2023-05-12 | It's time to pull some logs out of the slash and mess left from Fiona. In order to that I need a logging winch. Let's make one!!!You know you can buy really nice logging winches for tractors that operated off the PTO and the 3 point. But there's no fun in buying something when you can make it right!!I had a small 2000 pound winch as a spare for the ATV and I thought I should be able to put that on the GC2300 tractor somehow to make this 'shop made' logging winch. I also have a back blade just begging to have a winch added to it. So that's what I'm doing.Check out the video to see how I go about making this 'Shop Made' logging winch. Muffler Hanger Repairs Grampies Workshop 2023-05-09 | My Ford Escape has a broken muffler hanger and I need to DIY the repair!!!I had a total maintenance package on the Escape, but that has expired now so I have to pay for repairs. Not my favorite thing to do!!The county road we travel is a dirt road. If I said the road was in 'terrible' condition I would be wrong. It's was 'terrible' last fall. This spring it has reached a high in low when it comes to road conditions!! The pot holes and rocks are so deep and big that it's quite the adventure traveling on it, and not in a good way. And so this spring the muffler hanger on the Escape fell victim to the demon pot holes. The muffler and tail pipe are hanging and bouncing around and banging up against the chassis. The noise is something else. So I need to make a DIY backyard emergency repair. This repair need only hold me for a week or two as I will order a spare hanger and make a proper repair but in the meantime it's hay wire to the rescue!!Have a look and see how I make the repair and let me know in the comments if you have ever used hay wire, or baling wire, to make semi-permanent repairs to your vehicle!!Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoyed the video. Yarding Up Some Logs Grampies Workshop 2023-05-02 | With lots of logs laying around the property, I need to yard them up into a pile to clean things up a bit.I have hardwood and softwood logs. I want to keep them separate so I make a spot for the hardwood. I had to move the trailer and then get the GC2300 out and put her to work.I have by bolt on forks on the bucket to help pick up the logs. I then pick up a couple of the larger ones and lay them out to make a bunk for piling the logs. The bunk keeps the logs off the ground and helps to keep the them from rotting.I thought this would be a pretty easy job, but the hardwood logs in the pile the guys left after cutting all the trees was kind of a snarled up mess. So that made picking the logs off the pile a challenge and then unloading them on the bunk needed some intervention to keep the pile half ways straight and level!!Have a look as I yard up the hardwoods. Ohh You Dirty Carb Grampies Workshop 2023-04-28 | The carb on the Estate Car is acting up and needs some attention. Have a look as I remove the carb and discover the reason why the engine was surging at high speed. Surveying the Boat House Grampies Workshop 2023-04-25 | It's time to survey the Boat House to see what I'm faced with to rebuild it.Last fall when Hurricane Fiona blew through, we had a big old black spruce tree blow down and it landed on the boat house. And the boat house lost that battle!! LOLIn this video I tour the outside and inside of the boat house and try and make some kind of plan of attack on how to rebuild it. My welding skills are not good to say the least so I wanted to check and see how the wear surface made out over the winter. We didn't get a lot of snow and I think I only plowed about 6 or 8 times. Refurbishing a Chair Frame Grampies Workshop 2023-04-04 | I need to refinish the wood frame on a straight back chair. Come on along and see how I make out!!!The chair is needed for Nannie. She is scheduled or hip replacement surgery and the recoup regime says having a straight back chair with arms would be ideal. Since the only chairs we have that meet that criteria were in the lake room and in kind of rough shape, I decided I would try and refinish one of them and see if the end result would be suitable for our needs.So here is my attempt at refurbishing a wood frame on a straight back armed chair. I should probably have put more than one coat of polyurethane on it but since we'll only need the chair for 6 to 8 months, I figured the one coat would be OK. Its Garbage Day at the Lake Grampies Workshop 2023-03-31 | Every week I'm sure most of us do this .. take care of the garbage!!!Our garbage pickup in winter is at the end of our private lake road. So that means we have to take the garbage about 2 kms out to the county road for pick up. And we do this once a week. One week it's garbage and the next it's recyclables. But it has to get done and guess what? When we take the garbage out to the road, then after it's picked up, we have to go get the garbage cans and bring them back!! The good thing about all this is that I use the ATV for this weekly trip. So that kind of makes it a bit more fun. In this video I take you on the weekly chore of retrieving the garbage can from the end of our lake road. Some exciting eh!! It's a chore that gets done and this channel is all about what we do here at the lake in our daily lives. Just like plowing or repairing a leaking toilet, these things happen and we address them. Setting up a Shop PC Grampies Workshop 2023-03-28 | Well I can't put this off any longer, I have to clean out a corner in the shop and set up my Shop Computer.Cleaning is never any fun eh. But sometimes we have to decide to either fish or cut bait and today I'm going to fish!! I go to work and clean out the corner where the desk is in the shop.Then I take the old computer I was using in the camp and set it up on the desk so that I can have access to a computer in the shop. Having a computer in the shop is pretty helpful. I have maintenance and parts data bases on there plus when I need to look for a part or check to see how something is 'normally' put together, I can search that too. Oh and don't forget you can watch YouTube videos here too like Grampie's Workshop for example!! I also install a large 22” TV screen and use that for a computer monitor. Is This Job Worth Doing Grampies Workshop 2023-03-24 | I spent an afternoon fixing this shovel. Do you think is was time well spent?There is always the option of going to town to buy new, but I had all the parts and pieces kicking around the shop from old shovels that have broken and were destined for the garbage. So I re-used the parts and made what I think is a decent shovel for clearing out the fire pit and moving small amounts of gravel. Let me know what you would have done. Were These Gloves any Good Grampies Workshop 2023-03-21 | Were these winter wind waterproof gloves I bought any good? That and some more updates coming up!!!In this video I talk about the trials and tribulations of trying to heat and/or work in a an unheated shop inn the winter, what I tried for heat and the results I experienced. The bottom line is: insulate your space and heat it with a vented heart source or electric based heater. You'll be a lot happier with the result and the building will thank you!!The I give my thoughts on the ATV tires I bought last fall from Revco.com. This is a Canadian supplier that I found online quite by accident really. But this distributor has been around for years and they offer some great prices and have many many different brands and types of tires in stock. I am very pleased with these tires and they performed great so far through the winter. They are definitely Grampie's Workshop Approved!! Here is the link to their site: www.revco.ca. I am not sponsored by them but I sure would go there again for tires!! Delivery was super fast too.Then I explain what happened when I tried to repair my Canon Vixia HF R800 camcorder. The display was intermittent. After I did my 'magic' on it, the display worked for about 2 or 3 weeks. Now it doesn't come on at all. So this repair was a definite fail!!! The camera is useless now. And finally I talk about the winter gloves I bought last fall. I have to say these gloves sure were water proof and wind proof. My hands stayed pretty warm in them too. In fact my hands would sweat when I wore them and the resulting stink that came off the gloves was terrible with a capital T. And for this reason alone I would not buy these gloves again. Doing Some Catching Up Grampies Workshop 2023-03-14 | I want to give you all some updates on some things going on here at the camp.In this video Nannie and I give some update on Nannie's progress. It's an emotional time for her and she is pretty brave with the way she is dealing with what is going on. She is scheduled for a hip replacement and we have some concerns about her osteoporosis and if a replacement surgery can actually be done. But the surgeon, a very well ranked surgeon too, says he thinks she can have the replacement surgery and he is aware of her condition and will take necessary precautions during the operation. Please continue to pray for her as this is weighing heavy on her mind and mine too for that matter.I also give an update on the tractor Rear View Camera system I installed last spring. Yep, Ive Got Frost Heaves Grampies Workshop 2023-03-10 | Winter is getting on and the frost is sure settling in the ground and my porch is 'rising' to the occasion!!!The porch on the camp is just built on what was a deck. The deck was only on blocks on grade. So when the frost goes in the ground the porch goes up and this causes the door to jam and get drafty.In this video I climb under the deck and show how I manage the frost heaves and try and keep my porch more or less level so the back door will open and close without jamming up.It's a winter ritual and over the years I have made some improvements to make this task a bit easier. The Wood is Gone Grampies Workshop 2023-03-07 | There were a lot of trees blown down and damaged by Hurricane Fiona, but they're all gone now!!!In this video I show the guys cutting down the big spruce that was hanging over top of the wood shed. They got it down pretty slick and with no damage. Way to go!!Then I show the loading of some of the logs onto the truck and they are hauled away to the mill. It's a sin that all the trees got blown down or damaged but they did and so I had to deal with it. This was the best way I could think to get the work done. It was way more than what I could handle, even with lots of help, without having the proper gear. These guys did a great job and also looked after getting rid of the logs. They will be back at some point to get the stumps and some of the brush. Until then I can pick away at it with the chipper and the GC2300.Let me know in the comments if you have any ideas on what you would do down front between the lake and eh camp if you had to redo this area. Reworking a Computer for the Shop Grampies Workshop 2023-03-03 | My PC in the shop is toast. What to do? What to do?Well as it turns out my PC that I use in the camp for editing and doing all my computer stuff was not keeping up with the demand I was putting on it either so I decided to replace the computer in the camp. I had my brother Steve, a computer expert, spec out and build me a PC that could handle the rigors of editing and CAD programs that I use. So that means the PC from the camp was available to replace the PC in the shop.But wait, that's sounds too easy right? Since the PC in the shop had a lot of the programs and data bases that I access a lot already on it's hard drive (HDD) I decided I would remove the hard drive from the old shop computer and put it in the old camp computer and then it would be the same as the old shop computer except it would have a better computer operating on the old shop hard drive. There does that make sense? Fiona Clean Up Gets Serious Grampies Workshop 2023-02-28 | After Hurricane Fiona last fall there is a ton of clean work to be done.Well I tried to do some but I can't do this kind of work anymore. There is just too much for me to handle.So I had to call in the big guns!! I hired a contractor to come in and cut the trees and pull the stumps and clear it away. This should set me up so that come spring time, when the weather breaks, I'll be able to tackle the landscaping with the GC2300.In this video I show some of the work that is being done. I was very surprised at the number of logs that were harvested and this is only about 1/2 the job so far!!Have a look and see the clearing taking place. Checking Out an Electric Chain Saw Sharpener Grampies Workshop 2023-02-24 | My chain saw needs to be sharpened. Let's check out this new electric chain sharpener!!I was in Princess Auto a while ago and they had these electric chain sharpeners on special for $49.99. I had to get one. Here's a link:princessauto.com/en/120v-bench-mount-chainsaw-chain-sharpener/product/PA0009063579I have heard lots good and bad about these rigs so for this price, I thought I could try it myself and just see what all the hub-bub was about.Have a look as I unbox the sharpener and set it up. Then I take an old chain and set up the sharpener and try to sharpen the chain. The chain was not much good to start with, so I wasn't going to be out much if the sharpener didn't do a good job.I have to say I was pleased with the result. I don't try the chain in this video but I have used the chain since I made the video and it cuts like new!! Nice big chips and the chain clears itself really well. No bogging down the saw. Replacing Battery Cables on Estate Car Grampies Workshop 2023-02-21 | My Estate Car is hard to start. Here's why!!The (+) battery cable is frayed at the connector is not making good contact. I have a heavy gauge piece of wire with stak-on ends on it already that will work here just perfect. So I'm changing the positive battery cable on the Estate Care today.Ah yes, but all jobs don't go so smooth or so easy eh. I noticed that the (-) cable is also in bad condition, so I decide to change it too. But even this little easy job comes with it's challenges. It turns out both the positive and the negative cables have accessory wires attached to their connectors, so the change out of the cables hits a bit of a snag. Nothing too serious though.I mange to get the accessory wires hooked up and the new battery cables seem to work fine, so this is another little job done. Plowing Snow at Night Grampies Workshop 2023-02-17 | Any body like night time snow plowing? I do!!!Have a look and see this night time snow plowing video. We haven't had much snow this winter. At least not yet, but there is still lots of winter to come.There is something about plowing snow in the dark. A New Crash Bucket Grampies Workshop 2023-02-10 | I need a new helmet for my ATV. Man it's hard to choose a good one.In this video I look at some of the safety requirements of a helmet and why we should wear one when ever we ride our ATVs or snow machines or whatever.Then I talk about various different helmets and then I show the one I ended up getting. Lopper Location Locator Grampies Workshop 2023-02-07 | Oh Man!! Where are my loppers? Well now I know!!!When chipping I often have to trim down a branch to get it to be pulled into the chipper. When this happens I always have to go looking for the loppers because I usually just drop them where I last used them. So I have to find them, bend over and pick them up and then go back to the chipper and trim the branch. This doesn't sound like a lot of work but I'll tell ya, when your age is starting to get higher than your IQ the less bending and less steps the better!!Check out my video about making a scabbard to hold the loppers at the ready on the side of the chipper.
