Chris Busby and Ditta Rietuma; re-Justifying Radiation Law in Sweden drdrwoland 2017-03-21 | Exposures to radiation cause a finite number of deaths from cancer and genetic diseases including fatal congenital malformations at birth. The current legal limits in Europe are defined by the Euratom Basic Safety Standards Directive 96/29. This law contains a suicide clause in Article 6.2 which states that if new and important evidence emerges that the scientific basis of the BSS is incorrect, all the limits have to be changed. This is called re-Justification. In the last 20 years since Chernobyl, studies of Chernobyl affected areas of Europe have shown that the low doses of internal radiation caused significant increases in congenital malformation and genetic effects in babies, including deaths. This is new and important evidence that shows the the current laws are in error by about 1000 times. Sweden is one country in Europe where the legally responsible agency must use the new and important evidence to review the laws. If they do not, then this is an infringement of the BSS Directive and of Swedish laws, and they are then subject to the full weight of the European Court and the Ministry of Justice in Sweden. This means that Sr-90 is much more dangerous than currently modelled. There is evidence for this from various published experiments and the increases in cancer in Wales. Radioactive waste: Dumped and Forgotten drdrwoland 2013-05-25 | This documentary was shown on German and French TV but not in England. For obvious reasons the English don't want anyone to see it. This is the English version which we hope you will mirror and call attention to. It discusses the effects of sea dumping of radioactive waste on the health of people living on the local coasts, like the Irish Sea and the Baltic Sea, which is the most radioactive sea in the world. The documentary focuses on the British sea dumping in the English Channel Hurd Deep about 12 miles north of the Channel Island of Alderney. Alderney is also subject to releases to the sea from the French Nuclear Reprocessing Plant at Cap de la La Hague 12 miles East of the small island. Prof Chris Busby who was consulted on the health effects of this marine radioactive pollution visits the island with the producers and makes measurements of contamination on the beach. Busby originally visited the island in 1998 with Jersey MP Stuart Syvret and found an excess of brain tumours and also general cancer mortality which was written up as a Green Audit paper and became part of a BBC news story at the time. They were both chased off the island.Manfred Ladwig manages to get Dr John Cooper, head of the UK radiological protection organisation, the HPA, to admit that they balance childhood cancer cases against the advantages of cheaply disposing of nuclear waste. Cooper also agrees that his position involves a conflict of interest since he is head of HPA which takes advice on radiation protection from ICRP. Cooper is on the ICRP committee. He therefore takes advice from himself. We also hear from Prof Richard Wakeford, ex head of research for Sellafield, but now an "independent" expert, also on ICRP, who tells us the coastal child leukemias were caused by "population mixing". Mystery of radioactive rain in Brazil; Chris Busby drdrwoland 2013-05-04 | Chris Busby says: The decay of Radon, Rn-222 which involved gamma rays over the short term is as follows:Rn-222 half life 3.8days , then Po-218 (3.05mins), Pb-214 (26.8mins), Bi-214 (19.9mins), Po-214 (164uSec), Pb210 (22.3y) Of these only Ra-222 and Bi-214 give appreciable gamma radiation. The weighted contribution is about 60 Ra-222 to 80 Bi-214. The Brazil rain samples decay with an overall half life of about 37 minutes (16uSv/h to 1uSv/h in 150 min; Four half lives 16,8,4,2,1). If we assume that the radon was generated from radium a few hours before it was detected in the rain, that suggests Bismuth 214 as the origin of the signal. Bi-214 may have a higher concentration in the rain due to fractionation (since it is a solid and Ra222 a gas; it may form some kind of Bismuth hydroxide). The reason it is high in Brazil is there is a lot of Radium in Brazil. Of course, this means that rain can be a radon exposure hazard from external gamma and also drinking fresh rainwater. Not just in Brazil. I have not heard that anyone has realised this or that the official risk agencies have stated it anywhere. Look for diarrhea and flu like symptoms after heavy rain. Chris Busby: Nuclear Test Veterans betrayal drdrwoland 2013-03-19 | Prof Busby talks about the Test veterans radiation Pensions Appeals Tribunals cases. He explains how the veterans have been betrayed by their solicitors through a complex series of changes in the nature of the hearings and the sudden withdrawal of one solicitor firm Rosenblatts and its curious replacement by another, Hogan Lovells, culminating in the removal of all the critical evidence from the cases and the exclusion of Busby's evidence collected over three years, without the knowledge of the individual litigants. Prof Busby explains how secret documents, released under Freedom of Information requests and Directions by the Judge, Hugh Stubbs, point to Uranium, the main component of the bombs, as the major cause of the health effects in the veterans and their children and grandchildren. He has decided to put all the information from his many reports, including information obtained from redacted secret sources, on the internet. This information was excluded by the new solicitors to the case, (Hogan Lovells International),which was held in February 2013. Prof Chris Busby at the European Parliament 2013 drdrwoland 2013-03-18 | Prof Chris Busby was invited to make an Intervention by the Green Group in the European Parliament on 29th January 2013 over the proposals to the European Parliament by the Commission to adopt the new Basic Safety Standards Directive, which replaces the old Directive 96/29 which is currently Member State law. Prof Busby points out that the new Directive explicitly bases itself on the obsolete and dangerously inaccurate ICRP risk model. He draws attention to a Petition sent by hundreds of individuals to the European Parliament Petitions Committee to ask the Parliament to force a re justification of all practices involving exposures. Those people who sent the petition should get on to the Patitions Committee and ask what has happened. The formal submission document was sponsored by the Union of Arab Jurists and a number of other NGOs. In his presentation in the UN Geneva shown here, Chris points out that the systematic pollution of the global environment by radioactivity, sanctioned by governments, is underpinned by the Radiation Risk Model of the International Commission on Radiological Protection, the ICRP, which scientific advances in the last ten years have shown to be wildly incorrect. The largest hydrogen bomb destroyed Bikini atoll. Fallout in the Marshall Islands resulted in serious health effects which have been systematically either ignored or covered up. The question of the magnitude of these effects has come to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva and a Special Rapporteur was charged with investigating the issue and producing a report for the September meeting of the UNHRC in Geneva. The US Health Physics Society had previously produced a biased and dishonest report arguing that fallout was too low and doses too low to have caused any effects. Dr Chris Busby: a plan to stop nuclear pollution Part 2 drdrwoland 2012-08-11 | It is currently European Law that exposure to radioactivity in the environment is permitted and controlled by the EURATOM Basic Safety Standards Directive or BSS. This has a clause in it which states that "if new and important information about the efficacy of the provisions of the BSS emerge, all radiation exposure practices have to be re-examined (justified). Since the BSS was drafted in 1996 there has been a very large number of studies showing that the scientific basis of the BSS is totally unsafe, and many studies of populations show that millions have died and will die because of this. All inhabitants of European Union countries have the right under the EU law to petition the European Parliament. As a first strategy Dr Busby is asking everyone to download a Petition document from the website of www.nuclearjustice.org, to sign it and post it in August, registered or signed for, to the Petitions Committee of the European Parliament, Rue Wiertz, Brussels, Belgium. Chris Busby: the Forsmark nuclear waste Repository plan drdrwoland 2012-06-13 | The future of nuclear energy depends on the industry finding somewhere to put the high level waste. This is radioactive for millions of years and must be isolated from the environment. The hitherto intractable problem was apparently solved by the Swedish nuclear industry who proposed a plan to encapsulate it in copper canisters and bury it in tunnels 500m underneath the Baltic sea at Forsmark. The full environmental impact report was released last year; the government requirements are that the company SKB show that the waste will not emerge from the canisters between 100,000 years and 1 million years. After studying the report in detail it became clear that the design was flawed because it did not include consideration of the Helium gas produced from the alpha emitters. The volume of gas in each canister would cause it to explode long before 100,000 years resulting in the contamination of the Baltic Sea by the equivalent of 2000 Chernobyl accidents. Increases in all disease rates, increases in cancer, death of species, includings humans with infertility, are accelerating. Very few real scientists are standing in the path of the greatest human planetary health scandal of history. Without funding, there is little hope, as the few scientists standing in the way of this destruction are increasingly unable to survive and are getting old. What is needed is funding of an independent institute to deal with this problem and call a halt to the continuous and increasing contamination of the planet.
