I had hoped to try, for the first time, a go fund me type of thing to help with the mere budget to make this better than I usually make... But eh, I am deterred. In two years the controversial and abhorrently named "Mental Asylum of Aberration" (aka, the BlackRaven State Mental Hospital)will be shut down. But two of the remaining patients have decided to escape the facility to find their way out. Sadly, they get lost through the vast property, through the winding eerie paths. Though they try their best to avoid detection by the few staff roaming the grounds. On their trail is an Orderly, he's made an effort to find lost patients before, and this time he aims to prove he can find these two. ADVISE: The language in this short feature is very Harsh by today's standards. Not appropriate by any means and definitely NOT condoned for use. This is NOT an exploitive project. NO ONE is mocked. The actions of any Bullying are NOT at all condoned. It took a year of researching the actual site, stories, some history of the Metropolitan State Hospital in Waltham, Ma. It is disturbing to know what had happened as with other Mental Hospitals. The untold abuse of patients, how many were unwanted. How SOME went missing (look up Ann Marie Davee. A patient who was murdered by another patient in August, 1978. Staff got rid of the evidence and kept it quiet until 1980 when the case was finally investigated).HARSH: In trying to keep everything authentic for the story. Some items and buildings were recreated via photoshop (I know, not the best at all, but okay for no budget). The use of language, particular terms was to keep it more real to the timeline. Such phrases were spoken of then without issue. And in order to portray this disgusting part of history, it is better NOT to sugar coat it. And the reason why this was made... To point out the neglect. To point out the horror of bullying. None of these characters were based on any real individuals. But it is well known that many Mental Hospitals had frequent abuse of patients. Some disappearances. There was a need to try to capture a "possible" moment of "what could have" happened anywhere. And if it is Disturbing? Good, that means the point is made. Because such a thing was/is awful.
