Want to join our discord server? discord.gg/XKSxPQ8Sonic 3C Delta - New Angel Island Boss BehaviorSilver Sonic 19922021-06-10 | The other day, I learned that the Angel Island Zone Act 2 boss features some unused sprites for the cannons firing upwards. Although there isn't any code leftover for it, I thought it would be a cool thing to implement for Sonic 3C Delta. This took about 2-3 days to get working properly and was the first time I made a major change to an existing boss. Robotink can now fire diagonally and directly upward at the player from either side of the arena, in addition to all of the original attack patterns. I think that this makes the boss fight more interesting and it's sad that the idea was scrapped.
Want to join our discord server? discord.gg/XKSxPQ8Sonic 3C Delta - Updated Flying Battery Zone Parallax ScrollingSilver Sonic 19922021-05-16 | This is more or less just a small video to show a change that I've been wanting to do for a long time. After hearing some criticisms regarding the look of the indoor background parallax scrolling (which was still based on Sonic & Knuckles), I spent hours researching into how background scrolling is handled in Sonic 3. A friend of mine, SyntaxTsundere, came up with a good idea as to how the scroll rates might've been intended by original developers, and I programmed it into the game!
If you compare with the previous update video, I think it can be agreed that this is a very good improvement and much more consistent overall.Sonic 3 Prototype - Fixing the Launch Base Zone TransitionSilver Sonic 19922021-05-03 | In the Sonic 3 November 3rd, 1993 prototype, Launch Base Zone is one of the few zones to have a programmed act transition. However, the transition itself is actually leftover from a earlier prototype of the game and it reveals an interesting couple things.

Keep in mind, there are still a handful of things to refine -- a lot of time and effort goes into ROM hacking.
In the video, I also showed off the current state of two of the Bonus Stages which are based on the versions seen in the prototype.

Want to join our discord server? discord.gg/XKSxPQ8Sonic 3C Delta - New Title Screen & Super SonicSilver Sonic 19922020-11-19 | A quick update video to show the new title screen (that's nearing completion). This was one of the critiques many of you had when the hack was first announced. I tried a lot to keep the overall style of the render from 1103, while adding the refinements of the render seen in the final game. You may have noticed that some of the FMV frames are still in the old 1103 style. This will eventually be updated to be consistent with the title screen.
Super Sonic has also seen an update; the ring attack from 1103 that was theorized to have been intended for Super Sonic has been ported and implemented.

This is the Competition Mode in Sonic 3C Delta, which is one area of the hack that is nearly finished. As such, I thought it'd be a deserving candidate for an update video (after 4 months!) My sister and I played through the Grand Prix, but there's a slew of differences in each of the zones - can you spot them all?
Unfortunately, it seems like YouTube's compression has caused odd frame skips and such at certain points in the video. This wasn't an issue in the original recording.
Sonic 3C Delta is a hack of Sonic 3 that works like a complete version of the 1103 prototype. It is a mashup of early/unused content for Sonic The Hedgehog 3, and includes features such as a playable prototype Knuckles, prototype inspired S&K Zones, prototype music, and plenty more. None of this would have been possible without the dedicated efforts of the Sonic 3C Delta team:

Unlike Act 1, Lava Reef Act 2 was not so lucky and only a layout and palette have been found residing in the ROM. The only way to make this work was to use S3C 0408 data for the graphics and mappings. Big thanks to Jorge Nuno for fixing the S3 layout to work with the final chunk mappings.

Leftover data from a potentially earlier build of the game allowed the first act of Lava Reef Zone to almost be restored completely. The only thing here that was not restored was the collision, which needed to be taken from the Sonic 3C 0408 prototype.

This day marks exactly two years since "part 1" of this series. Originally it was cancelled, but a lot of people enjoyed it so I made a part 2! I started working on this in January (not consistently!) and here this is, almost 11 months later.
In actuality, this is actually the 4th part, with the previous part actually being the 2nd. Part 1 and 4 have never been finished or released, and since this series isn't meant to make sense anymore it has little connection with the unseen parts.
You probably noticed the white lines in the background while watching this video. Unfortunately, that seems to be a major visual bug present in Adobe Flash CS6 and there is little I can do about. I wanted to do accurate BG parallax effects as seen in the original game.

The glowing spheres bonus stage largely matches the one found in Sonic 3C 0408, which was somewhat different than the final version. The slot machine bonus stage however, seems to have been vastly different, hardly matching the one in S3K or the S3C 0408 prototype.
