ISIS mix neutrons by accelerating protons does super high speeds, then smashing them into a tungsten target towards the end of the video, you can see the team, pulling the target and other equipment back into place around the moderatorBut when they first generated, the neutrons have far too much energy to be used for research.The coupled moderator slows the neutrons down by bouncing them off extremely cold protons, so they share out the energy.Now they are ready to be used in a range of scientific instruments, used to study everything from aeroplane wings to chocolateThis timelapse is just a snapshot of our technicians is amazing skills we can't run or science facilities without them!

Professor Nathan Mayne of the University of Exeter, working with local SMEs and funded by The Science and Technology Facilities Council, pioneered the use of virtual reality (VR) in the communication of cutting-edge exoplanet research, developing an innovative and immersive VR Exoplanet Tour. This unique resource has reached a huge worldwide audience; attracting over 12 million views and over 5,000 comments, making it the most viewed science-based VR resource on the entire YouTube platform, while also winning a prestigious Lovie award.The VR Exoplanet Tour, has since been screened to over 18,000 people through international exhibitions and over 1,000 students across Devon and Cornwall.
