He notes that is is "an irony of the modern world that the fate of the world is being determined by some senators in the US Congress," and suggests that President Obama earn his Nobel Peace Prize by addressing the greatest threat to humanity and to security: climate change.
Tearfully, he concludes: "The fate of my country rests in your hands."

Sandy [TV spot]climatebrad2024-10-09 | 10/31/12: Climate Silence ad produced by Forecast the Facts juxtaposing GOP Republican candidate Mitt Romney's mockery of global warming with Superstorm Sandy hitting the East Coast of the United States.
Beginning October 31, the ad ran on cable in Ohio (Columbus area) and Virginia (Loudon, Franklin, Prince William Counties).
The ad appeared on November 5-6 on broadcast news on the three major networks (WBNS, WSYX, WCMH) in Columbus, Ohio.
“Sandy is without question the October Surprise of 2012, and it has pushed climate change to the forefront of a campaign where it was previously almost entirely absent,” said Brad Johnson, campaign manager of Forecast the Facts.
Press release:
Millions of Americans are still reeling from Hurricane Sandy, a horrific, fossil-fueled storm. Climate scientists agree that global warming pollution was a key factor in its destructive power, so Mitt Romney must hope we forgot that he mocked climate change at the Republican National Convention, to the raucous cheers and applause of the GOP delegates. We didn’t forget.
We’re putting out this video to remind every voter struck by Sandy that Mitt Romney thinks the poisoning of our weather is a joke. Climate Silence members have been leading the charge against climate silence for months. But in the final week of this election, the most powerful climate messenger turned out to be the harrowing reality of a freakish Frankenstorm.
Sandy is without question the October Surprise of 2012, and it has pushed climate change to the forefront of a campaign where it was previously almost entirely absent.
As families recover and voters head to the polls, we want the American public to remember this cold fact: less than two months before sea level rise devastated New York City with more powerful storm surges, Governor Romney laughed at the very notion of rising seas.
Our next President must be someone who is prepared to forthrightly address climate change disasters like Sandy. The tragedy of Hurricane Sandy has made it crystal clear: it’s time to end the climate silence.

“Vigilance is probably the best definition of ‘woke’ as [Republicans] are using it… The opposite of a vigilant, woke investment strategy is a negligent and inattentive investment strategy.”

Joe Manchin's (D-W.Va.) "permitting reform" legislation to expedite fossil-fuel and other projects and limit community and environmental review, citing "leading environmentalist" Bill McKibben's recent call to action in favor of building clean energy infrastructure.
Manchin's "dirty deal" is strongly opposed by the environmental movement for environmental racism and questionable climate benefits. The scientific community has clearly indicated that continuing to build fossil-fuel infrastructure would violate national commitments to limit global warming.
Transcript:
Here's the bottom line: if we can't build some new things in a few backyards, the climate crisis will destroy everyone's backyards, along with the livelihoods, communities, wildlife, and biodiversity we want to protect. I may not be popular among my friends in my environmental movement for saying that, but that is the reality. "The general tactic used by opponents of projects, delay it until it goes away, is in effect a form of climate denial." Those aren't my words. That's what Bill McKibben, one of our nation's leading environmentalists, wrote in Mother Jones last month. He then said, "When you're in an emergency, acting at least gives you a chance. Not acting guarantees an outcome, and not a good one." It's time that we act, it's time we confront crisis with pragmatism, to go from stopping things to building things again. And with pragmatic, bipartisan action from Congress, we can build a secure, resilient, affordable clean-energy future together.Biden in 2020: No more drilling on federal lands. Period. Period. David Scott Plugs For Keystone XL, Gets Told Offclimatebrad2022-03-08 | 3/8/22: Rep. David Scott (D-GA), as the House Agriculture Chair one of the most powerful members of Congress, went on a semi-incoherent rant at a Financial Services hearing on inflation to claim that Russia's invasion of Ukraine means we need to build the Keystone XL pipeline, which would have transported Canadian tar sands oil to the Gulf Coast for export. Scott seemed unaware of that fact as he equated construction of the climate-destroying tar-sands pipeline with increasing domestic oil production. He was gently corrected by witness Mark Zandi, who pointed out that U.S. oil production already matches or exceeds current consumption.Saule Omarova Hectored By Steve Dainesclimatebrad2021-11-29 | 11/18/21: Saule Omarova, in her nomination hearing before the Senate Banking Committee to be Comptroller of the Currency, is attacked by Sen. UN Deputy Secretary General Amina Mohammed offers an even more blunt criticism of van Breundel's argument that we can drill our way out of global warming: : "You can't be talking about new [fossil-fuel exploration and production], when the science tells you have to reduce that production 6 percent per annum and you're increasing by 2 percent."Cathy McMorris Rodgers: Im A Young-Earth Creationistclimatebrad2018-09-28 | 9/19/18: When asked whether she believes the earth is 4.5 billion years old or 6000 years old at a town-hall debate with Democratic challenger Lisa Brown, Rep. The Clinton campaign did not publicize this ad to the press.
The ad ran over 200 times cumulatively on Albany, Rochester, Syracuse, Watertown, Elmira, Binghamton, and Utica stations from April 13th to the 19th.
NARRATOR: China. India. Some of the world's worst polluters. As secretary of state, Hillary Clinton forced them to the table, making real change by laying the groundwork for the historic global agreement to combat climate change.
As president, she'll invest in a clean energy future, and the jobs that go with it. And stand firm with New Yorkers opposing fracking, giving communities the right to say no. Because our future depends on getting this right.

As of October 27, the Koch super PAC Freedom Partners Fund has spent over $3,158,815 for Ernst, and the Koch 501c4 Americans for Prosperity has spent $250,954, according to FEC records compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics.

Joni Ernst fervently warns of the United Nations Agenda 21 conspiracy to take away Americans' rights.
Note: the United Nations has not actually imposed anything on Americans.
Transcript:
Q: 20 years ago, the general assembly of the United Nations met in South America and 178 world leaders signed this document that has come to be known as Agenda 21. How do you view Agenda 21, and do you believe it would not be beneficial to the United States? If the latter, as U.S. Senator, how would you extricate the US from this agenda?
ERNST: I don't support Agenda 21, and no, I don't believe it is good for America. I don't believe it is good for Iowans. The United Nations has imposed this upon us, and as a U.S. senator, I would say, ‘No more. No more Agenda 21.’ Community planning — to the effect that it is implementing eminent domain and taking away property rights away from individuals — I don’t agree with that. And especially in a place such as Iowa, where we rely heavily upon our agricultural community, our rural communities. We don’t want to see things like eminent domain come into play.
We don’t want to see a further push with Agenda 21, where the Agenda 21 and the government telling us that these are the urban centers that you will live in; these are the ways that you will travel to other urban centers. Agenda 21 encompasses so many different aspects of our lives that it’s taking away our individual liberties, our freedoms as United States citizens. So I would adamantly oppose Agenda 21. I don’t believe it is responsible, not for United States citizens. Thank you very much.Does U.S. Senate Candidate Joni Ernst Support Armed Insurrection?climatebrad2014-10-22 | 8/25/2012: In the wake of the Aurora, CO, massacre, Iowa state Sen.
