UNICEF works in the world’s toughest places to reach the most disadvantaged children and adolescents – and to protect the rights of every child, everywhere. Across more than 190 countries and territories, we do whatever it takes to help children survive, thrive and fulfill their potential, from early childhood through adolescence.
The world’s largest provider of vaccines, we support child health and nutrition, safe water and sanitation, quality education and skill building, HIV prevention and treatment for mothers and babies, and the protection of children and adolescents from violence and exploitation.
Before, during and after humanitarian emergencies, UNICEF is on the ground, bringing lifesaving help and hope to children and families. Non-political and impartial, we are never neutral when it comes to defending children’s rights and safeguarding their lives and futures.
And we never give up.
Let’s not stop now. Speak up and tell leaders it’s time for immunization for all.
Let’s show the world what’s #HumanlyPossible.

When there’s a lot on your mind it can be hard to open up, even to those who care about you the most, but it's the first step to getting the help you may need. It starts with one moment, one conversation, one question: What’s on your mind?

As we reveal the devastating impact of diverted resources during the COVID-19 crisis, join us in exploring the challenges faced by health workers worldwide. In the heart of Abuja, Nigeria's capital, meet heroes like Janet Salihu, striving to bring vaccines to 2.2 million children facing barriers to access health systems.
But amid the challenges, there is hope.
Meet Bridgith from Ecuador, who walks through rivers and jungles to deliver vaccines to every child and learn how the country managed to achieve a remarkable 90% childhood vaccination rate and proving that recovery is possible.
Join us in acknowledging the urgency: every child deserves protection from life-threatening diseases. As we shed light on the critical need for investment in primary healthcare, the empowerment of health workers, and community awareness, let's unite to secure a healthier future for children everywhere.
Watch now and become part of the solution. 💙🌐 #VaccinesWork #GlobalHealthHeroes #BuildBackImmunity

UNICEF has teamed up with spoken word artist @clickfortaz on our #OnMyMind campaign, in support of the 1 in 7 adolescents living with a mental health condition and to promote good mental health and well-being for all children and young people.
When there’s a lot on your mind, it can be hard to open up, even to those who care about you the most, but it's the first step to getting the help you may need.

The triple planetary crisis of climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss is changing the planet and our children. Children are uniquely vulnerable to the impacts of this crisis because they are less able to physically withstand and survive climate shocks, are physiologically more vulnerable to toxic substances and pollution, and will suffer a lifetime of lost opportunities from the damage and deprivation they experience.
Despite their vulnerability, children and their rights are largely overlooked in UNFCCC processes and national climate policies. Less than half of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) are child-sensitive* and just 2.4% of climate finance from the key multilateral climate funds is child responsive** even though 1 billion children are at extreme high risk of the impacts of climate change***.
In September 2023 the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child adopted ‘General Comment No. 26 (2023) on Children’s Rights and the Environment with a Special Focus on Climate Change’. This landmark pronouncement establishes the negative impact of climate change and environmental degradation on all child rights, reemphasises the right of every child to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment and details the obligations, and provides guidance to every party to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) on measures to address environmental harm, with a special focus on climate change.
In all wars, it is children who suffer first and suffer most. UNICEF continues to call for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, unrestricted humanitarian access across Gaza, and immediate and safe release of all abducted children.

The video begins with a poignant flashback showing a glimpse of the moment she first tested her hearing aids. The narrative then progresses into a follow-up of Pascaline’s story, filmed one year later. We went to see how she is doing today, and ask her about the impact these simple devices have had on her life so far.
SCRIPT:
OST
One year ago
OST
Last year, Pascaline tested out her hearing aids for the first time.
Let’s see how this simple device has impacted her life
OST
Today
Pascaline Uwababyeyi - Student
“Before I received the hearing aids, I couldn’t play with other kids because I couldn’t hear what they were playing. But now, we can play together because I can hear.”
Appoline Uwababyeyi – Pascaline’s Mother
“The new thing I noticed is that she enjoys studying more than before. When she arrives in class, she can hear, whereas before, she could not and would be afraid to ask questions, saying, “If I ask, they will laugh at me.” But now, when the teacher explains something written on the blackboard, she hears and understands it, just like all the other students.”
Pascaline Uwababyeyi - Student
“The benefits I have gained from these hearing aids include being able to hear music, my friends, my teachers, my mother and even my little brother. This makes me happy.
My dreams are to become a Minister. The Prime Minister.”
OST
UNICEF reduced the cost of hearing aids in Rwanda by 94 percent, from $2,000 down to $118,
giving children access to affordable, high-quality devices.
OST
Increasing access to assistive technology empowers children like Pascaline to dream big.

His grandmother, Sahoura was worried he wouldn’t pull through, rushing him to a UNICEF-supported hospital in Niger where he was diagnosed with severe malnutrition.
“When we arrived, we’d lost hope,” said Sahoura.
Dedicated healthcare, therapeutic milk, medicine and ready-to-use therapeutic food not only helped get Laoualy back on his feet, but smiling, eating and playing again.
To stop the same thing from happening to other children, UNICEF calls for urgent investment to treat, detect, and prevent severe malnutrition.
This includes support for breastfeeding, micronutrient supplements, and access to quality nutrition services.

Her mother Amina wasn't able to produce breastmilk, fearfully watching as Medina’s strength ebbed away.
Amina and her husband had recently fled severe drought to a camp in Afar, Ethiopia.
They had already lost their home and their cattle. Now, they faced the heart-wrenching prospect of losing their daughter.
“I was extremely worried about her; she was so sick and unconscious when I brought her to the hospital,” says Amina. “I didn’t think she would make it.”
Doctors at the UNICEF-supported hospital immediately recognised signs of severe malnutrition and took urgent action.
To help her regain strength, Medina was given UNICEF-supplied therapeutic milk and ready-to-use therapeutic food, a nutrient-rich paste which she was able to take at home in addition to breastmilk.
Soon enough, she was able to sit up and smile again. Within a few months, she was back to a more normal weight.
Through climate change and conflict, UNICEF is delivering its largest nutrition response on record.
Continued funding and support are needed to make sure we can continue expanding our work to prevent, detect and treat deadly severe malnutrition.Subscribe to UNICEF on YouTube here: https://uni.cf/subscribe

To save children's lives, much more is needed.
We continue to call for a ceasefire to protect civilians and humanitarian workers, and ensure safe and sustained access to aid.
Children under the age of 5 have rapidly developing brains and any exposure to toxicants during this period can have consequences for the rest of their lives. We need to urgently protect our children from environmental pollutants because for every child that gets poisoned, we lose a piece of our future. Every child has the right to a healthy environment.

Childhood lead poisoning can result in learning disabilities and challenges that affect children’s executive functioning, impulse control and levels of aggression. A study by the Center for Global Development suggests that more than 20 per cent of the learning gap between rich and poor countries can be attributed to elevated levels of lead in the blood.
This is why urgent action is needed now to end childhood lead poisoning globally. By working together, governments, the private sector and civil society can provide a comprehensive solution that will protect children’s health today and in the future. Learn more about what you can do here.

In desperation, his mother Raneem raced him to a UNICEF- and WHO-supported hospital where he was given therapeutic milk and medicine to jump-start his recovery.
At home, he ate ready-to-use therapeutic food, a paste packed full of calories, nutrients and vitamins, which helped him gain weight.
Thanks to the medical care Sanad has been receiving, he’s now significantly healthier. “I can’t believe he’s recovered so well,” says Raneem.
Sanad’s story is one that’s familiar to millions of children and their families globally. But with the right support, change is possible.
