Gemini - Agena [Re-entry: An Orbital Simulator] bujin1977 2023-05-27 | Docking the Gemini spacecraft to the Agena Target Vehicle (ATV), as performed for the first time successfully on 16th March 1966.Gemini 8, flown by Dave Scott and Neil Armstrong, nearly ended in disaster when a malfunctioning thruster on the spacecraft caused it to begin rotating uncontrollably. Upon undocking from Agena to avoid damage to either spacecraft, the rate of rotation increased to 296 degrees per second. Armstrong had to disable the Orbital Attitude and Manuevering System (OAMS) and use the Reentry Control System (RCS) thrusters to stop the tumble. All of this happened while Gemini 8 was out of range of ground communications, and from start to finish, lasted nearly 30 minutes. Having used nearly 75% of the RCS fuel to bring the craft under control, the flight had to be aborted and Gemini 8 made an emergency landing. Re-entry took place out of range of NASA tracking stations over China, and Gemini landed 500 miles east of Okinawa and 600 miles south of Yokosuka, Japan.

May cause nausea!A trip from RAF Valley (EGOV) south to Barmouth, once around the Mach Loop, then back out over Llyn Tegid and Bala, to Llyn Celyn, then up to the A5 Pass, and finally back to RAF Valley.Yes, I got the startup procedure a bit wrong, but at least it still flew! Also, I need a lot more practice on the landings. I need to focus more on keeping the speed above 130kts on approach.
[MSFS 2020] - Flight Recorder Test bujin1977 2021-11-19 | Trying out the free "Flight Recorder" as an alternative to the new built in recorder in MSFS, which I think needs a LOT of work. Much easier to use, although it still has its glitches (for example, it struggles with raising landing gear). But at least the cameras aren't so buggy - the UI actually works!
[MSFS2020] Testing the Sim Update 7 Replay Function bujin1977 2021-11-19 | A quick test of the MSFS 2020 replay function just released in Sim Update 7 with a flight from RAF Valley (EGOV) in a Hawk T1 (from Just Flight) over the custom scenery I created at Llanddwyn Island, Dolbadarn Castle and Dolwyddelan Castle, through the A5 Pass and back to Valley.Initial thoughts? VERY buggy and glitchy. The undercarriage on the Hawk kept glitching in and out throughout the whole flight (I assure you it was up the entire time!), and if I tried running the replay from inside the cockpit, all the caution & warning lights were flashing and the alarm was going off and there was no way to stop it. Don't know if this is an MSFS thing or a Just Flight thing to fix! The replay tool itself is quite confusing to use, but maybe it will get better with a bit more time devoted to learning it. I just wanted to show how easy it was to make this sort of film. Star Citizen is a damn fine looking game!A basic, boring package delivery mission in which I can't use the quantum drive, but it gives me the opportunity for a bit of sight-seeing!And yes, I trimmed out the bug where upon arriving at the package drop-off point, the actual building hadn't rendered in properly. Luckily it eventually did, otherwise that would have been a 45 minute flight wasted. And I also trimmed out the bit where I got lost at the spaceport and had to fly around for a bit to find the hangar. Bloody noobs.

Archery Game 2020-12-06 bujin1977 2020-12-06 | An example of what a single target in the game *might* look like, if I ever complete this game. The game will be based on UK NFAS Field Archery rules. Each target will have a red peg, a white peg and a blue peg, and the target will have a kill zone.You start at the red peg. If you hit the target within the inner kill zone, you score 24 points. If you hit in the outer kill zone, you score 20 points. If you hit anywhere else on the target, you score 16 points. If you miss, you go to the white peg, where you score 14 points for anywhere in the kill zone and 10 points for anywhere else on the target. Finally, if you miss from this peg, you move to the blue peg, where you score 8 points for hitting within the kill zone, and 4 points for hitting anywhere else on the target.For player comfort, I would like to replace the smooth locomotion system in the game with a teleport system - if you miss, you get transported to the next peg, and finally to near the target to see where (if at all) you have hit it, then finally teleport to the next target.
Archery Game Progress 2020-12-04 bujin1977 2020-12-05 | A bit better progress this evening. Still can't get the bloody TextMesh thing to work. But I have now got a new sound effect when the arrow is nocked to the bow, added back in a very basic terrain and some terrain objects, added in a bit of maths so that the arrow always ends up embedded into the target at the same depth (this may change to add a bit of variety later on, but at least the arrow is no longer passing straight through the target!), and finally, a *temporary* locomotion system has been added - mainly so that I could check that the "arrow embedding" thing was working properly! The plan in the long run is to only have teleport locomotion in the game, as it really won't need smooth locomotion.

[MSFS 2020] - Manchester to Donegal - Emergency landing (again). bujin1977 2020-09-24 | Ok, so this one was almost entirely my fault. I was enjoying a nice evening flight from Manchester to Donegal and had just passed the Wirral, heading out over the Irish Sea when I received a warning that there was a fuel imbalance. Of course, I'm not a pilot so have no idea what the procedure should be, but I guessed that switching from the left to the right fuel tank would help even it out, right? Except when I tried to do that using the scroll wheel on my mouse, it flipped too far and shut off the fuel supply completely. Bit of a design flaw, I think...No idea how to recover from that, so I head back to the coast of Wales, hoping that I've got enough altitude to glide back to the relative safety of land.My years of playing Space Shuttle Mission Simulator and F-SIM on my mobile helped me to glide into land in a field next to Greenacres holiday park, narrowly missing a pylon I only saw at the last moment.So I'm going to have to wait a bit longer to see Donegal and have that pint of Guinness and a packet of Taytos.

Tomen Y Mur, North Wales bujin1977 2020-01-18 | Tomen Y Mur is a Roman fort near Trawsfynydd in North Wales. The native North West Wales Ordovices along with the Silures of South East Wales were still actively resisting Roman occupation in AD 78 when Gnaeus Julius Agricola took over as governor. Agricola's response was particularly brutal and he effectively wiped out the Ordovices.The fort was constructed by Agricola in AD 78, but was abandoned by AD 140. At its peak, it housed a cavalry unit of around 1000 soldiers. It had a parade ground, bath house, inn and a small amphitheatre.The mound in the centre of the compound is a Norman motte.
