Black storks - finally together (4k) denkhaus.photo 2020-04-04 | About six weeks ago the male black stork returned from his winter resort. Usually the females follow two weeks later. This year - for unknown reasons - the return of the female black stork took three times that long. Luckily the male black stork waited patiently for his wife, restoring the eyrie in the meantime. That's true love as I would say.
Juvenile Kestrel gathering for attention (4K UHD) denkhaus.photo 2020-07-19 | Being out for littleowls in the early morning on a farm run by friends of mine my interest got triggered by repeated shouting of a kestrel. I knew that there was a breeding box for kestrels in the top of the old barn but so far it was only the adults that shouted when returning there. Taking a closer look I had to figure out that one of this year's kestrels made it out of the box and all the way down to the ground. This 4k-video produced with a Canon EOS 1Dx Mark II + Canon EF f4/600mm L IS II USM shows the youngster moving along the wall of the old barn, gathering for attention of its parents. In fact it got my attention first ;-)ENJOY!

A grey Heron and a toad (4K) denkhaus.photo 2020-03-01 | When being out to shoot pictures of black storks at a small lake I instead had the the opportunity to study how a grey heron consumes toads. Until then I thought they only swallow the toads like e.g. fishes, but here we see that the toad is literally squeezed out and the washed a couple of times before they disapperar in the heron's throat.Canon EOS 1Dx Mark II, Canon EF600mm L IS USM II + 1,4x Extender @f7,1 EV -2/3 stops
