I just barely got into the top third (somehow) after not touching this game for at least a year, which isn't that bad imo. In the stream, some big timesaves I could've made were Y-Running before the warp, moving to the side before scaling the pyramid (instead of using a random sideflip), slidekicking down the slope to conserve speed with the quicksand/using punch speed conservation, and getting rid of the top of the pyramid. But for my first serious submission, it could've gone much worse.
TASK 3:
In Shifting Sand Land, starting from one of the provided savestates :
Start by entering the warp from the cannon to the lake, end by collecting the red coin star.
The map shows you where the warp takes you and what star you must collect.
Timing starts on the first non white frame after the warp, and ends on the frame the character touches the ground after collecting the star.
You may NOT use the Wing Cap.
You are NOT allowed to relocate objects by cancelling Yoshi's eating action with a bounce
You are NOT allowed to use the warp after time starts
You MUST use one of the mandatory savestate and the movie file. (provided below)

like in 1-1, the first jump is to get over a pipe. the second one is used to enter the upside down pipe to exit the cave. an a press could be potentially saved there by bouncing off an enemy into the pipe above, but after hours of attempts of missing the pipe/bonking but not entering, i cut my losses and settled for 2x. i may revisit this part someday
so yeah, this has been on hiatus forever because i kept running out of motivation

you can also get the motorboat to rotate with some ridiculous looking angles, i think i got it nearly upside down once
also i wont be able to tas stuff as much in the near future because school
first a press is to get over the first pipe, and the second is to hit the big egg block. a is held after each press to flutter off ledges and to bounce/flutter higher off enemies.
idk how i'd manage future abc videos of this game, so i'll probably unlist later vids (when they come out) a bit after their uploads so things won't get as cluttered (like what sharkey91 did for yoshi's island)
turns out an lj at the beginning was 2 frames faster, didn't realize this until after i finished. also ignore the fact that i randomly selected star 1

i calculated my time by taking the in game time on the first frame that it reached 1, subtracting a second, then timing from that point until the frame that the first speech bubble was at the biggest size idk how it works yet

Shoutouts to SkicoNow (for reminding me when I forgot to get rid of the water storage on my first attempt) and Really_Tall (for trying to assist me with with the first part of pulling this off).
1-2 days ago, SkicoNow decided to try to look for running hyperspeed in this stage by holding a shell as Wario, but he wasn't able to do so. After more failed attempts in the 150 server using hacking for experimentation, I decided to try to use water storage to then build up backwards shell hyperspeed underwater. However, this came with a problem. When you have water storage on a shell, you will keep hopping on slopes (automatically) when you try to build up speed. With a bit of assistance from Really_Tall, I managed to create a setup for eating a shell to spit out and mount under the water, after water storage is gotten rid of. First, I hit the ! block then waited for the shell to land on the ground (this is necessary to spit it in place later). Second, I ate the shell and quickly charged y-dash to make the later parts a bit easier. Third, I kept jumping in place without holding any d-pad input when making contact with the ground to make sure Yoshi wouldn't swallow the shell. Fourth, I jumped on the left edge of the box then off it to make it a bit easier to do a frame perfect spit to place the shell on the box without mounting it. I then hit the box to get another shell, and ate that when it hit the ground so I could then perform water storage in order to get under the water. I then went back to the shore to eat the floating shell, then made no-input ground jumps to make it to an underwater slope. On there, I did a jump then a frame perfect spit to cancel out the storage, and to spit the shell on the underwater ground to get on. From here, I was finally able to build up negative speed normally due to the absence of the water storage. Because this had worked, I had the idea of finally getting the 5 "impossible" out of bounds coins within the course (twitter.com/Really_Tall/status/821814349576736768) through the wall. I positioned myself in the spot and built up speed until my speed was under -5 million, then I started to zip around the map to try to do the teleporting objects glitch to try to get the 5 out of bounds coins (A video of that glitch by ChristianF23 can be seen here: youtube.com/watch?v=t67sIxfGUwA). Near the end, I stalled a bit to get rid of my speed to make the maneuvers a bit easier for me to get the last 2 coins. If this is used when trying to get the max amount of coins in this course, the TAS record will go from 147 to 152. This wasn't the only thing we managed to do with this backwards shell hyperspeed spot. Yesterday, SkicoNow managed to actually clip through some corners and got out of bounds, but he was moving too fast and was too low to make a proper, high enough landing. If we managed to get in a body of water OoB, then we'd be able to get both the OoB coins and the star "Inside the Cage" as Yoshi only without caps. A few guys in the 150 server (including me, SkicoNow, and Adeal) are still currently trying to find a good place and way to land for that as of now.
