Blew out his right front tire and chewed up the bottom right front of his bumper.

They were slightly larger than the existing hole which was solved by a small amount of plastic trimming with a Dremel tool. Replacing the one in the console storage area is very easy. However, the outlet in the cup holder was difficult. GE washer not draining fiveyorks 2022-09-15 | GE model GTW330, but probably applies to GTW220, GTW460, GTW485 as well. The washer started not draining a couple times, and then changed to never draining. It made a low hum when it was trying to drain. Turned out it was not clogged, and needed a new drain pump. Water and gunk had gotten inside the failing motor. Ordered part number WH23X28418 for $36 from Parts Dr. (www.partsdr.com)

I believe it was failing due to corrosion on the electrical connectors. Neither of the two bolts came out using a standard socket. Had to use a bolt extractor on the lower bolt. Had to cut the top bolt. I assumed the bolts were metric, but turns out they were not. Brake Master Cylinder fiveyorks 2021-06-05 | How a brake master cylinder (MC) works. This video shows an Ate (Continental Teves (ATE)) brand master brake cylinder from a Mini Cooper (2006 JCW R53), part number 03.2122-1824.3 (non-DSC part number 03.2122-1853.3). It is a tandem style MC with two pressure volumes within a single cylinder providing two circuits of brake fluid pressure to the ABS unit and ultimately the brake calipers. Ate brand MCs are used in many other makes such as BMW, Audi, and VW. The MC is activated via the brake pedal, where the pedal pushes a shaft in the brake booster which in turn moves the MC shaft. Mushy or soft brakes are sometimes due to air being trapped in the master cylinder or seals within the MC allowing fluid to leak past them.Video shows a cut-away, a simple computer animation, and a crude idea of how to disassemble and assemble the MC. Removing broken riser from a buried sprinkler pipe fiveyorks 2021-05-23 | If you have an in-ground sprinkler system, you may have broken a head off in one way or another. The deeper the water pipes are buried the more trouble it is to get the riser out of the buried pipe so a new head can be installed. I have always defaulted to digging it up, but ran across a tool on Amazon that can help. The tool would not reach deep enough, so I modified it. Of course after installation (before turning water on), you need to remove the internal parts of the sprinkler and put pressure on the system to flush dirt and trash out. The very astute viewer will notice I used the wrong riser the first time (with 1/2" fitting instead of 3/4")! Porsche 981 GT4 vs 718 GT4 at VIR fiveyorks 2021-05-02 | From a Viofo A129 duo dashcam. Two high-performance Porsche Cayman GT4s having fun at a PCA HPDE event at Virginia International Raceway. The 981 is 3.8L 385 HP model manufactured in 2015 and 2016. The 718 is a 4.0L with 414 HP that weighs slightly more than the 981. The 981 street version was only available with a six-speed manual transmission (the 981 Clubsport GT4 has PDK standard) . The 718 has manual and automatic (PDK) available. This one was PDK.The 718 begins behind the 981, but the 981 (me) gives a point by on the next lap. Ignore the time stamp, it's wrong. Speed readout is somewhat accurate, but it lags. The 981 is stock except Fabspeed sport headers and max aero; tires were Sport Cup 2s.The video view "resets" due to the dashcam saving in 3-minute-long files and the fact that my video editor (Movavi) can't carry over zoom/pan settings from one track to the next.
Hard-wire install: dash cam in a 2016 Porsche Cayenne fiveyorks 2021-02-07 | A hard-wire install of a Viofo dash cam in a 2016 Porsche Cayenne. Should also apply for a radar detector. Prior to making the video, I had started to use the rain sensor power, which I thought was switched (via ignition), but it was live all the time. Part of this video shows a "repair" of the power wire to the rain sensor. I could have tapped into the rear-view mirror power and avoided running the red, power wire to the mirror, but running that power wire is a simple process and I like to minimize changes to the OEM wiring.Used a fuse tap on the driver's side to power a 12V to 5V converter with a mini-USB pigtail. Used the brown ground wire on the rain sensor for the ground connection on the 12-5 converter. The thick wire from the front camera to the rear was more of a challenge. I ultimately was able to physically see a path from the passenger side fuse panel to the tweeter. So, I worked the wire through there. It was somewhat of a pain, but not too bad. Going to the rear hatch from there was simple. Safelite Windshield Replacement (not done right) fiveyorks 2021-01-30 | Safelite replaced a cracked windshield on my Mini Cooper. It was raining when they were done so I got in the car and drove home. The next day I found the work they did was substandard and, in fact, damaging to the car. I contacted them via their website and go no response, so I have made this video to document their work.The front window rubber molding/seals were nearly totally removed from the grooves in which they should be installed. There was debris all over the dash I had to clean up. They unattached the headliner (material that covers the inside roof) r all the way across the windshield where the inside, roof of the car meets the windshield. I was able to push it back up and the adhesive mostly stuck it back, but it is wrinkled and stained. They scraped the VIN number off and it is now unreadable through the window. Clips securing the trim around the windshield were broken or not reattached, and trim pieces on the left/right sides were not installed properly. And I paid them to do this to the car.

KitchenAid Refrigerator Water Leak Troubleshooting fiveyorks 2020-12-13 | KitchenAid model KSC24C8EYY02. May be similar to Whirlpool and Amana models. A plastic water tube with a built-in elbow cracked and leaked each time the water dispenser was used. This video shows the failed OEM part, removal of the part, searching for a replacement, and installing the new tube. The tube is 5/16-inch outside diameter and about 25-inches long. Fixing broken dishwasher tray roller/wheel fiveyorks 2020-05-08 | DIY fix for a KitchenAid dishwasher tray wheel or roller. The video shows two types of fixes. First is when the wheel keeper fails and the tray is able to pull away from the wheel and rail, but the shaft for the wheel remains. The symptom is the tray sags down where the wheel is supposed to be attached. The second fix is when the keeper and shaft break off so there is absolutely nothing for the wheel to roll on. In this case, I used features already on the tray to hold a new stainless steel shaft that was added to hold the wheels. The wheels are moved back slightly, but that's not a show-stopper.

Disassemble/repair Dremel 4000. fiveyorks 2020-04-09 | In this video I disassemble a Dremel tool (model 4000) in an attempt to fix it. It was running "rough" and would eventually stop turning on. The fix was to eliminate a small protrusion on one of the brush guides so the brush element could move freely. The video shows how to take it apart and put it back together. I also show it running while the case was apart and you can hear the noise it was making.

Replacing rear hatch badge letters on a Mini R53 fiveyorks 2019-12-16 | Removing OEM chrome letters and replacing with black. Tape area off to help replace letters in the exact same location. Heat letters and remove with dental floss. Remove glue residue. Carefully install new letters. I don't recommend rubbing glue off with your fingers - causes significant blisters!

DIY solution to a 2000 Explorer broken hatch (tailgate) latch fiveyorks 2019-07-08 | There is a small, plastic part that connects the latch, which is pulled by the person opening the hatch (tailgate), with the unlocking mechanism. This plastic piece can break (which mine did), and so I made a replacement out of aluminum. This video shows how I did that and, more importantly, how you should do it if you decide to try this method of repair.So, *after* I did this, found out some Ford dealerships have the part for $5!!

In addition to flattening the strut mount, I had to remove the strut and straighten the studs so it would fit after flattening the strut mount.
