Elgato Facecam Pro 4K60 via Antelope Audio Edge Go and Juan Fernandez Utrera 2021 Cypress Cutaway Ramzi El Rumbero 2023-09-12 | Flamenco involves fast right hand movements, so I figured it'd be nice to do 4K at 60 FPS from now on. To do that, I got an Elgato Facecam Pro webcam (because DSLRs would be much more expensive). Takes more time to render, but oh well... This microphone really does sound solid, to be quite honest. Placement is everything, as always. :) Better to mount it upside down as you see in the video so you can get the capsule closer to the source. I like to mic the bridge because it sounds dryer, crisper, and more percussive. This guitar is an absolute killer, and I would highly recommend this maker. Oh, and by the way - a new composition (still in the early phases) at the end. Stretchy! :P

It's very freeing to play flamenco guitar without having to be plugged in (both the guitar and the headphones into the audio interface). These products, for me at least, *very* effectively solved this problem. And FYI, this is a "dual-source" instrument, so I am using *two* of the NUX transmitters/receivers, with zero interference. The HyVibe pickup is active, and the LARS pickup is passive. (by the way, I used decreasing levels of reverb in the recording, so each time you see me reach for the mouse, I drop the amount of reverb. KNA NG-1 pickup on a flamenco guitar Ramzi El Rumbero 2023-08-23 | I fully back this pickup because it is very high-value. For about $70, this is super-affordable compared to the competition. Also, this requires zero "permanent" modification of the instrument (no drilling, no glue), however, once you install it, you can keep it on so you don't have to deal with putting something on / taking it off after each use. All you do is just plug in, and you're good to go. Given all of the above, this sounds very, very, very decent and if you're looking to make your nylon string guitar (flamenco or classical) louder for a performance, or you want to record at home (in a noisy environment) and you don't want to get any of the background sounds into your recording, this is a go-to solution. Keep in mind that this is mounted under the strings on the tie block and is held into place by the loops/ties/knots of the strings, so if you use ball-end strings, or string ties/beads, this *won't* work likely (I don't expect it'll stay in place otherwise). I feel it is a fragile device, so if you smash the case onto it, or push/pull on it too hard, it will likely break. I have had zero issues in that regard myself, but I think that will likely happen if you are too rough in handling it (such as being lazy and not wanting to totally loosen the strings while trying to push it underneath them, or not holding the head of the pickup with one hand to stabilize it while plugging in the cable, etc.).

I am using it here on my Journey Instruments carbon fiber guitar (you can see the microphone in the sound hole on the rubber mount) which is equipped with a HyVibe under-the-saddle piezo pickup. This is all going through a PreSonus io24 audio interface. The first section of the video, you are hearing purely the wireless microphone. The second section of the video, I blend in the HyVibe through the CloudVocal receiver. I am *seriously* impressed by how good this system sounds, how easy it was to set up, and how well-thought-out the design is. I think I'm going to sell my LR Baggs Venue DI and start using the DI in this system instead. It has *a lot* of clean gain. Amazingggggggg! (and so compact)
